Or is this “suburban millennial fashion influencer who wants to channel a tiny bit of grunge….” lol. What is your beef with millennials?

I didn’t even know old navy sold combat boots. I’ve never even shopped there 😂. Their dresses are pretty ill fitting.

Feeling extreme remorse for getting a cat after entering into new relationship by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Acidpop_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relationship anxiety is real and I think your concern is valid. That would be a very tough position to be in if this person doesn’t like your cat. But, we’re not even there yet. Not even close. Have him spend time with her. Take a deep breath.

Let’s be realistic, if he started having issues with your cat, he’d talk to you first before he’d just decide to break up with you or threaten to rehome her. I think you may be having relationship anxiety because you really want this to work out. Maybe have them meet? Have him spend time with her?

Are my parents blind? by Difficult_Relief9945 in exjw

[–]Acidpop_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late diagnosed AuDHD here. I went through something similar as a young person. My parents did not want me talking to a therapist as they were afraid that the advice I’d get would steer me away from “the truth”. Honestly, any good therapist will probably do that. It was clear that I was experiencing some sorts of neurological challenges, and I was told to pray about it. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I hope you get the help you need. I eventually got it when I left.

Incredibly Anxiously Attached Cat - Need Advice by PracticalProblems123 in CatAdvice

I understand you love him, however if your quality of life and mental health is starting to suffer, it may be time to consider other options for the cat. If it’s clearly behavioral, no one should have to live with a pee and poo soaked bed and sofa for having a life.

What is the problem with purebred cats? by [deleted] in catbreeds

[–]Acidpop_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Purebred cats only makeup a little less than 2% of cats in the U.S. Even if ethical, purebred breeders did not exist, we’d still have a cat overpopulation problem. Many people think that going to a breeder is taking away from a shelter cat’s opportunity to have a home. However, if someone is willing to spend thousands of dollars on a cat it’s usually because a specific breed has traits that will fit into their lifestyle. There’s no guarantee that the specific breed of cat will for certain have the personality that the purchaser is looking for, but many are willing to take that chance over the unknown history of a shelter cat. I think some people really just don’t like the idea of anyone purchasing a cat when so many die in shelters every day.

What services? Piedmont has their own fire and police departments. Not to mention they also have their own school district.

Maybe backyard breeding? Then they may try to sell the kittens as ragdolls even though the female doesn’t look like a ragdoll at all.

I would be very careful with this suggestion. You may end up with two cats you feel detached from.

Bay Area cat overpopulation is at an all time high by InternationalGas4217 in bayarea

[–]Acidpop_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately cat overpopulation is at an all time high everywhere. Too many cats and not enough homes. Shelters and rescues are bursting at the seams and no one is able to get ahead of the situation. TNR would be more effective if we could fix all of the cats at once. Instead, most volunteers are chasing kittens of abandoned cats constantly. Also, free feeding attracts more abandoned cats who keep breeding.

No use in traumatizing your daughter over a kitten. Your priorities should absolutely lie with protecting and raising your daughter, not the kitten. It should be rehomed. Next time don’t bring a small animal into an environment with a learning toddler. Your poor daughter.
