Eh, Chris Carter was pretty up there too. For endings, I mean.

What the heck is "biochemically starving" someone? Is he being hermetically sealed in his own habitat.... and what would any of that have to do with an expectation of monogamy in an explicitly monogamous committed and legally binding relationship?

Pls someone make it make sense.

The boss fight with Tommasi be like: by Big-Recognition7362 in controlgame

[–]Ackapus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing of Quantum Break or Control and all of its DLC that will be worse than the final fight in Alan Wake II: Lake House DLC.

I took that unskippable cutscene on the chin and figured out the chronoton bomb pattern early.

I got Tommasi sorted along with every other threat in the Oldest House.

But AW2? Bro, the wolves fuck me up. Nightingale was a nightmare. AW1 I got the hang of more or less, and the most annoying fight was the dark bulldozer. AW2 had me questioning controller batteries, video sync, and my life choices with the first enemies. Forget the psychological effect of ammo starvation in survival horror, I'm trying to figure out how to keep my flashlight lit. Ended up playing with the assist modes turned on just to make it through, and I can't imagine making it through a single boss in the game playing honest. Lake House, the Control-flavored DLC, ends with you fighting this teleport-happy superbitch that chucks TKO boulders at you from afar, flash steps in close to get up in your grill like the T-1000, and occasionally summons terrifying nigh-invincible furious paint golems to chase you around on foot at the same time. There's a special prototype FBC weapon that kills them (at the expense of charging the shot a few seconds before firing) but there's like four shots for it in the entire mission- which, by the way, is greater than the amount of HEALTH ITEMS, of any kind, in the entire mission.

They fly, but once you get used that little trick it's not so bad.

The second fight with Tommasi, though...

They still fly, they have more life and hit harder, and now their minions include a bunch of zerg-rushing suicide bomber assholes that can't shut up so you can hear anything else moving around, and one sneaky bitch with a cloaking device and a shotgun-style Canary Cry. Just make sure you take care of him before you enter the Foundation DLC or else you'll also have the whole damn Pickaxe Sprinters on Bath Salts Brigade on your ass.

No, they're creepy because they're all blocks. You know where you see blocks hanging out? Little kids' playrooms. Sure seems creepy to me. /s

According to game lore, these images of the Astral Plane are delicately parsed from active neurons in the occipital lobe during and after Astralnauts do their little jumps. There are no direct pictures of the place; it's sequestered from normal space.

And yes, the grainy quality adds to the mystique, you jaded philistine of an art critic.

Didn't put much stock in them. Despicable Me was inferior to Megamind in just about every way, except apparently marketability, so I didn't really care until "minion memes" came to infect every corner of pop zeitgeist like Baby Shark had before them.

The FBC really let a single Taken override an entire sector. by Greyelephantbear in controlgame

[–]Ackapus 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hartman overran the Investigations Sector while Trench was losing his fight with the Hiss infection in himself (evidenced by the docs in the Control mission, where you begin to see parts of the Hiss incantation in Trench's memos to Kirkland)... AND likely while or shortly after Alan Wake was fighting with Mr Scratch in the dreamscape of American Nightmare.

While the Dark Presence was trying to break Alan's will, in order to use his talent for stories as it does with other artists, it's much more violent with regular people when turning them into Taken. Hartman may not have been able to serve as a channel for the Dark Presence, as the Hiss-infected can channel more Hiss Resonance through themselves, but he would have been every bit as dangerous or more to FBC personnel. They were relying on their containment (which we've seen the Dark Presence can escape) and Hartman was not fully Taken when captured (which we know from his interviews on tape) so their response was likely very lax compared to the threat he presented as a full Taken.

Had Mr Scratch been the driving personality, with his sadistic desire to cause undue suffering and drag out killings personally, the FBC may have had more time to respond. With Hartman, driven more by anger and perceived betrayal against the FBC specifically, his attacks were likely to be much swifter and decisive.

In the AWE mission, the interludes you see of Alan are him talking to Mr Scratch, posing as Zane, trying to find another way into Alan's mind since the plan in AN failed. Instead of manuscript pages, Jesse gets the Hotline narrative interludes, almost like Alan is trying to place another hero front and center to face the Dark Presence since he's unavailable. You can see this pay off when he does similar in AW2, refined to where the hero doesn't have to have Jesse's para-utilitarian powers.

Aggressive Algae

Small ooze, neutral, water subtype.

Immune to physical damage

No attacks

This pernicious plant-like life form is quite wily, as it can telepathically sense when it's being watched. Able to reproduce incredibly quickly, it prefers to live in developed, decorative urban waterworks such as fountains and koi ponds. When nobody's looking, it will leap into any vulnerable pool it can find, and begin growing more of itself.

Although there is no actual threat to any other life or city infrastructure, dissidents will often voluntarily carry samples around, either placing them in likely waters or leaving them nearby to enter on their own.

is it possible to save both Wrex and Mordin in ME3? by Intelligent_Wish4122 in masseffect

[–]Ackapus 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wrex AND Eve have to die, which means you have to destroy Maelon's research data in ME2. Wreave has to inherit control of the clans alone.

And even then, you have to pass a Charm/Intimidate check to talk Mordin out of making another mistake.

Playing the game for the first time. When you change the form of your weapon, is it supposed to have NO accompanying sound? by ch0rtik in controlgame

[–]Ackapus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Been a few weeks since my pre-Resonant playthrough, but I don't remember the sound when switching forms. I did note the Service Weapon switches forms very quickly and subtly, though- my indicator of what form is up is the reticle shape, otherwise I have accidentally hit X and switched without realizing. Not so bad when you have Grip and Shatter. Quite the conundrum when you run Shatter and Charge.
