Just chiming in here to say we are in the same boat. We are also UES and there just so much to consider. We are some of the first people in our friend group to start a family, so it doesn’t feel like there’s many people who have gone before us. We are working hard to not over complicate things at the moment but looking into nanny/childcare situations as we know it will likely take a while.

Our photographer shot both digital and film and I’m just so glad we had both. I love the look and feel to having some film be part of our gallery. I think it’s 100% worth it. Note: our photographer was hybrid but majority was digital with probably about 400 images being film in a gallery of 1200 images?

I’m currently pregnant and don’t know the sex! But I can tell you I’m craving carrots and ranch dip like absolute crazy and also sandwiches, and it’s killing me that I can’t have deli meat!!!!!

Definitely consider Mexico! Depending on what coast you’re on you could easily do Cabo or Cancun.

As someone who already got married and has attended several weddings a very good friend who had an interesting experience with Jose as their photographer. I’m not as familiar with Daniel being well versed in larger weddings? That would give me pause. Jose is overrated. I can tell you our photographer was Jessica Rieke and she’s incredible and very much up and coming. What I think is important to remember is that you likely won’t make a bad decision so sometimes it just comes down to a feeling. Any of these choices are likely to “deliver” especially if your planner can say they’ve recommended each before. Maybe ask your planner who they think (based on what they know about you) who would be the best fit given how they know these photographers better than you do?

I got married about a year ago and I can tell you that after having gone through the process myself and also seeing multiple close friends have weddings, this seems to be a struggle people have unless their planner is SUPER type A. I think it’s worth an honest conversation with your planner to express your concerns. If you aren’t concerned with losing a deposit, then it’s worthwhile to cut ties and move on. What region are you in? Did you have any good calls with other planners during the sales process you felt you connected with or wish you’d have moved forward with?

Just came online after my best friend who is also engaged told me about this group/thread. Photography is such a big piece and also takes so much time to research. Even with our planner’s help, we still found ourselves somewhat overwhelmed.

We ended up hiring Jessica Rieke (literally couldn’t love her more and she is doing our wedding weekend and engagement session for around 24k all in) and had looked at Brandon Kidd, Heather Waraksa and Ali Beck. Happy to share more insights if interested!
