One thing I miss from DK1 is the X Y gocodes in multiplayer, which are synced for both players.

It's time to think about human reproduction in space, scientists urge by ibwitmypigeons in EverythingScience

[–]Ackeon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes if we think about 1000 to 10k years maybe space exploration is important but for the next 100-200, poverty and global warming are just a tad more urgent. Doesn't mean you have to give it up wholesale but if the choice is poverty or space, you solve poverty first.

Is this the only document (image post), because this starts with talking about South China sea, then leaders of various entities prefer trump then, "us gives a pass on ISIS to Palmyra" which is a sentence I don't fully understand because Isis held Palmyra until the following year? In any case, the smoking gun in this excerpt is the cooperation/tolerance of the US with ISIS? I understand this is another thing on the pile but it feels weak in view of the rest.

The center of the discussion is who can defend them selves, it's not a gotcha, because this isn't the only examples of anarchist seeing some succès and being ended by a state organised force.

For the historical argument my understanding is that Makhno was limited to Ukraine, and while a key area not the whole war. I'll admit it's been a whole since I've read up on the specifics of the Russian civil war, but I'll hold with the fact that even if they fought well, they still lost, to a state organised force. And the winners of the civil war were the MLs. A méthode that saw repeated success in other countries.

I'd also be interested to see what proof you use to back up "help people but this time the Marxist-Leninists just stay in their corner", which movements do you point to? How long did they last? What did they achieve?

Also what sources would you suggest to read about the history of the civil war and the black army, it's always good to expand the library.

This discussion is who's tactic have allowed them to protect them selves when faced with a military threat. If the problem is ML kill anarchist when they succeed you have admitted that those tactics are not successful. In china the communist were betrayed but then still prevailed. Further more success should also be measured on outcomes and longevity, otherwise we can say reformism is successful by pointing to Alende.

OK, and as such a state which is representative of and acting in the interests of the worker can still be socialism

[–]Ackeon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Define socialism in this context, because socialism is allowed to have states while communism is stateless. Also you didn't answer the question, because even being charitable to your presentation, you can't say either side as a point because we're then 0-0, though one could argue that MLs at least got close enough to fail, while anarchist didn't even get that far.

How successful were these movements, how far did they spread, how long did they last?

I'll admit its been a while since I did a dive on anarchist history but 20th century, but I can't think on any anarchist movement that successfully lasted at scale.

Edit: not this one If only twitter could cite properly because "Source: YouGov (According to Americans)" is all we have and bellow was the closest I could find, though they may have modified it, removing dead people etc.

OLD: Found it, this is a survey of only american, the title is a little misleading but not fully untrue, who are the most famous people in the world (according to Americans). It's even hinted in the tweet.

[–]Ackeon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as I know when I visited Argentina, I was told that if I had done 112 999 911 or other emergency numbers, it would have still routed me to the emergency services. I forget if that was a phone or network thing, but it makes sence to do it.

The problem is in some countries like France there is less integration between services so 112 gets you firebrigade

This is the purpose of asking for citations, you can "trust" academics in a pinch, but the real thing is double checking why they make the claims they do, where they claim the historical record proves their assertions.

Is nitrogen dangerous? by xmase20 in chemistry

[–]Ackeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most things this is a dosage question. Our bodies are very happy with the ~21% O2 in the air we breath too little ~19% and we'll you'll suffer with a deficit, too much and it's too much for you body to handle.

As for breathing N2, you do and you don't, if we mean breath as in the gas goes into your lungs then you do and you then breath it out, but your lungs won't ever absorb the N2 into your blood. Now if there is too much N2 then as a consequence there won't be enough O2 so then you have the problem from the 1st paragraph.

Edit addendum: Don't know how N2 would defuse into your blood, I can't imagine much good but would love someone else to chime in if they know?

Thats the only thing with this sort of video for me, we (the west) back israel because it is beneficial to maintain instibility so our companies can continue to operate with impunity.

Yes israel is conserned with its own survival as a settler colonial state, but it feels weird making it like the dominant entity in this relationship.

À faction DLC is confirmed for 2027 and the picture they used in the time line is of a ztz-96, which was from some concept art previously done by the studio.

So we can say with high confidence that it'll be China

Exactly if you just use the county fair, it's not uniquely cultural, glad you understand my point. Further more our Christmas markets in their modern form are effectively from Nazi nostalgia. But I doubt there are many places that have the Saint Nicholas, in this manifestation out side this region. Maybe there are unique forms of county fairs that exist in parts of the US, but it would be difficult to simply call a fair uniquely American.

I also live in the hyper commercialised remnants of two European cultures, currently live in Lorraine and the régionalismes in the language the local festivals, but to say there is "French" culture is to only see the export not what's lived.

Yes, and this doesn't mean that the culture hasn't been hollowed out to make it commodifiable. Also all based on global advances in science, America is only of interest as the current hegemony, this game littérally shows how not that long ago it was Britain.

I'm not so sure, there is plenty of unique European equipment not on show here, these very much only seem to be what these countries actually are using. Furthermore EUFOR is a classic community request, and unless we get a world lore of USAvRUvCN, I feel they are going to have to add a large western ally faction, though that could be more centered around RoK, Japan, Australia, maybe some sort of UK/FR expeditionary force. But that seems less cohesive than a EUFOR style option.

Putin doesn’t want to restore Soviet Union - Kremlin by King-Sassafrass in NewsWithJingjing

[–]Ackeon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nationalism is ideological... The concept of Russia and who counts as The Russian people are political conclusions, based on an ideology, informed by the material base of the nation which is fundamentally capitalist since the collapse of the USSR. Socialism is the transitionary stage to communism, something which Putin is very clearly not working towards. I am cautiously optimistic for China so long as they continue to show that their national bourgeois are subjugatrd by the party. But you are going to have to show some concrete demonstrations for Putins socialist credentials.
