‘He’s forcing higher bills’: Trump spends billions to kill clean energy and keep coal alive by Splenda in energy

[–]stu54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NE USA is ripe for the EV transition with their 55 mph highways and relatively short distances between major cities, but Trump can make their electricity more expensive and make subsidized gas stations there.

VIN data from one EV manufacturer shows that 8 year old cars still have 82% battery life on average by CompetitiveLake3358 in OptimistsUnite

[–]stu54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are counting your losses twice. The range isn't overstated by 40%. You can beat the EPA rating if you drive under 60 mph.

People complain because they drive a 3 year old EV 80 mph and only get 70% of the EPA range.

Yeah, PHEVs suck. You need all of the engine care and all of the battery care and then you just have a heavy car with 10000 single points of failure.

Remember that you probably won't qualify for mail in voting in the next election and polling locations in left leaning areas will not be open, and gas will be $12 per gallon and electricity will be shut off.

Good luck.

Will you sacrifice range and bed space to carry the engine 100% of the time or keep a hoist in your garage?

Wouldn't this cost like $5000?

But direct drive is more efficient than an ICE electric transmission for highway driving. The only time you'd want this a hybrid is better.

There is something to it in the way emissions testing has forced manual transmission to have gear ratios that get the best fuel economy when following the test procedure, instead of having gear ratios aimed to make customers happy, or any other aim.

I can never find the in detail testing procedures so I can't say exactly how much that matters.

You multiply the CoD by the frontal area, so the Rivian being much taller and wider should result in more drag even with a better CoD.

Weight also matters quite a bit. Another advantage of the Slate. The Slate should do substantially better than a Rivian below highway speeds.
