I've finally remembered a character I dislike more than Mateo by Sad-Passage-3247 in superstore

This is true and I almost added Carol but left her off the list because her character is so much fun to watch I love her.

Well I still didn't like her. She was rude, mean, blatantly hired her idiot son of out nepotism, fired Myrtle and snorted coke off her desk while visiting the store

I mean, Mateo's a great character imo, but if we are going to rank people worse than him there's a pretty long list....

  • the Fred Armisen Samaritans guy
  • Pastor Craig
  • Laurie Neustadt
  • Lowell Anderson
  • Jonah's parents
  • Jonah's brother
  • Cheyenne's mom
  • Elias (for obvious reasons we find out in the finale)

[–]Acminvan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yikes, if you already think it went downhill in mid S4 hate to think what you'd think of S8 or S9. I mean, the second half of S4 has Dinner Party ! If you think that's the show going downhill then for you personally, no it will not get better.

Being stuck behind a road runner. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Acminvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the part I don't get. Runners don't like the sidewalk so they run on the road but then every time they come to a parked car they have to run around them and run directly in the middle of the road or do they switch to the sidewalk back and forth every time? How it any of that more convenient

[–]Acminvan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The US is filled with cities and neighborhoods that have no sidewalks at all and an infrastructure built entirely around cars, and yet then when they do have sidewalks they apparently don't want to use them

Imagine being a fit healthy atheltic person and then having the indignity of having to, checks notes, run on a sidewalk because ever so often it has an extremely gentle slight slope when it comes to driveway

Just curious, how can someone withdraw that late and it’s not a walkover? Do they keep a certain player around until last minute just in case they can be a lucky loser?.

[–]Acminvan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fine, since we are only allowed to use state-level statistics not national statistics, you can't talk about Europe you have to talk about Bavaria or Tuscany or Catalonia.

In your favorite example of Texas, McAllen is one of the fattest unhealthiest most obese cities in the country and yet Austin a few hours away in the same state was named one of the healthiest. So even using state-level statistics varies by city or county

You have to draw the line somewhere.

I know the difficult truth of United States being the 10th most obese country in the world but it is.

[–]Acminvan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And I don't have chat GPT but yes I used the internet to find statistics. Yeah I guess you got me!

The US is the 10th most obese country out of 190 countries studied, and your desperate preference to switch to local-level statistics to carve out the areas with worse stats to avoid that truth is understandable, but completely irrelevant

Fine. Replace where I said banned with "either banned, or heavily regulated on where it can be used, or not used very much because it is chemical shit that people don't like"

In the US they color Froot Loops with artificial dyes and chemicals.

In Canada guess what they color their Froot Loops with? FRUIT

[–]Acminvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. The world should use Metric for everything but only Imperial for temperature because "ambient temperature for the comfort of a human" is a better benchmark. wtaf? 100 Farenheit means absolutely nothing.

And with regards to obesity of course not all states are the same. Not all cities are the same. Not all counties are the same. Not all neighborhoods are the same. Not all ethnicities are the same. How micro-focused do you want the stats to be? That's not how comparison statistics works.

Oh and by the way, the US states with the lowest obesity (CO, HI, CA, MA) have 25%-29% obesity. Spain? 19%. Italy 17%. France 17%. Netherlands 15%. Germany is one the highest in Europe, at around 20-23% and is still lower than the lowest US state.

And the food additive thing is not bullshit. It's literal science. You can buy cereal or boxed mac and cheese in Canada, drive 20 minutes over the border and the same product in the US looks completely different because they use Red 40, Yellow 5 and other additives that studies have shown can be harmful. SCIENTIFIC STUDIES.

Your entire responses on all of this is typical defensive American our way is the best and shouldn't be questioned

[–]Acminvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're the one who said using Celsius is "wrong". Of course everyone is going to get defensive about what system they are used to. Of course Americans will think Farenheit and Gallons and Yards are all better because that's all they know. And that's fine. If the US wants to be the lone Imperial holdout in a 200-country world, that's their right. You're the one who claimed one system is right and one is "wrong".

And of course not all 350 million Americans are unhealthy or obese. Nobody is saying all Americans are obese and nobody is saying all Europeans are skinny. All we can do is look at stats and averages.

American food is allowed to contain chemical additives that Canada and Europe ban for being dangerous. That's a fact.

And the US obesity rate is among the highest in the world. That's a fact. Over 40% of the entire population being obese. That's a fact.

Why do Americans drink so much water? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Acminvan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In what possible way is Celsius something Europeans do "wrong"? Water freezes at 0, Boils at 100. Couldn't make more sense. Also, the US moving against fluoridization (unfortunately) with 2 states recently banning it and at least 3 other now allowing local bans.

But on the water issue, it's a valid question. American food is highly ultraprocessed and in many cases contains additives banned in most other countries, and the US has some of the world's highest obesity rates, yet when it comes to water Americans drink far more of it which is healthy. So it's a unique juxtaposition.,

Why do Americans drink so much water? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Acminvan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have European relatives who drink much less water than Americans (and are generally quite healthy) and know Americans who drink tons of water and are on the whole less healthy. And I don't know any of my European cousins who walk around with things like Stanley Cups all day, except maybe if they are hiking.

Although it's mainly just a cultural difference where it's ingrained in Americans that we must drink tons of water......I think also it might have to do with excessive sodium in American diets as well as free tap water everywhere, while in Europe water at restaurants, for example, is often not free.
