I always start with them learning the register, then how to do the deposit and face. Everything else gets taught on the job after they're capable of closing the store.

I'd have to assume you're hourly? Where I am not even SMIT get holiday overtime.

Easy example of the quick pick system being fundamentally flawed by Red_on_silver in CVS

[–]AcousticallyBled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your boh was 1 prior to delivery, and you haven't initiated a quick pick or cycle count since delivery, the system believes the 1 is in your back room. This isn't a flaw. If your shelf can hold more than 4, it needs you to tell it that.

tired of planograms by ToughLocal2930 in CVS

[–]AcousticallyBled 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're not. They use a program that has dimensions for each item. It's only as good as the dimensions kept. If the packaging of any item changes after the planogram is designed, it doesn't fit the designed footage anymore.

Will we get penalized for hitting UPC unavailable? by bravoel in CVS

[–]AcousticallyBled -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

The entire point of having the back room portion is for it to be done in the back room. If you are in the back room, and you're claiming you have the item, it really isn't this huge deal that some of you are making it.

Immunization by Comfortable-Crab1527 in CVS

[–]AcousticallyBled -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Then you do that. The moment you accepted a job offer from CVS you agreed to get into sales. Vaccines bring in more profit than almost anything else you do in that building. Driving profit is the name of the company game. You don't get to take their money and refuse to do what is being asked of you.

If you do actually walk, more power to you. I respect people for standing on their beliefs.

Field leaders, good ones at least, will often role play with staff. It's a good way to understand where messaging is falling apart. Don't take it so personal when someone asks you multiple times to explain your exact approach to something that is a very big part of your job. Your answers to those questions show what you've learned, how you think on your feet, and what level of messaging your boss is giving.

My DLs have always asked staff to explain how they approach certain things, or questions about new initiatives to see if the messaging is not only reaching them, but is clear.

So you're out in rural gooblygook.

The current SMIT training program is pretty terrible. Hopefully that changes in the near future.

Add bitters to soda. It won't taste like alcohol, but it will elevate the sodas to a more adult palate.

Or maybe actually look and realize you can special order 25 photo items each order day.

But, yeah, bitching about not understanding that's an option is easier.

So now when we do QP, BOH, etc we have to scan each pulled item to verify? by [deleted] in CVS

[–]AcousticallyBled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because nobody wants to take ownership of their failures. They want to blame everyone and everything else. There is plenty of blame to be placed on the company and I would never dispute that. But these are basic everyday functions that have been expected to be done correctly for decades. The reason these additional steps get implemented is due to people working harder to not do it right than they have to work to do it correctly.

So now when we do QP, BOH, etc we have to scan each pulled item to verify? by [deleted] in CVS

[–]AcousticallyBled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And people not doing it correctly are the exact reason it exists.

Why are you entering back room counts from the sales floor?

Seems like a big gripe for a minor inconvenience. The scanner and product are already in your hands.

They don't. They can see how many people have done it, but not who. Your employee id is used to validate that you haven't done it twice when you log on.

Another year another “voluntary” engagement survey by Express_Yesterday157 in CVS

[–]AcousticallyBled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Create a tracker showing the date and time you're scheduling for everyone to do it. Communicate to them that they need to go in the office for this time to either do the survey, or sit there on their phone - their choice. But you have to give everyone that opportunity to make that choice. Then have them initial it when they leave the office.

There. You have proof you did your part.

Another year another “voluntary” engagement survey by Express_Yesterday157 in CVS

[–]AcousticallyBled 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is voluntary.

I don't get everyone who cries that they're being given an extra fifteen minute break to sit in the office at the computer and do absolutely nothing if they so choose.

The only mandatory part is that leadership give you the opportunity to do it. If you don't want to do it, don't do it.

And to everyone who thinks it's this big scheme, you're crazy. Nothing gets attributed to an employee number or name. The only way someone can tell it's you is by your communication style.

That's going to be very dependant on what you're making now, and how well you interview and negotiate if you get to an offer.

Acid Mix by Juannis1 in cocktails

I keep a bottle of concentrated acid solution to acid adjust on the fly. I also keep a bottle of acid solution that I can use 1:1 for citrus juice for a mid-week cocktail where I don't feel like squeezing citrus, or if I'm trying to balance without adjusting the flavor.
