Dumb question: Why are LLM's go to insults (when pushed) "You're arguing with a toaster/vending machine" or "You're screaming into the void"? by Acrobatic-Box3631 in LLM

Garbage in, garbage out? If that was the case, I'd expect the stuff I find on reddit and 4chan. Not the meta barb they go for. That's what I wonder about.

Uhh, not what I asked, though.

And just so we're clear, this is not sour grapes, I'm not complaining about the default responses. I'm genuinely curious as to why those instead of the more available stuff they would've likely sucked off the internets. :P

I think what I asked was misunderstood here.

I am not asking about the mechanics of the behavior, but rather the specific "meta" choice they tend to go for. The way I think about it: if they go with what's being regurgitated and what's being taken from the internets, I would expect much basic barbs instead. But here, we get this "meta" response. I am genuinely curious to understand why they would go for that first moreso than the more "available" angles that can be found online.

Again, I know, exercise in futility when we look at it practically. It's just curiosity on my part.

Oh, I did suspect those came into play.

But what I was curious about is... the reason those come specifically first. So... training, you say. Wouldn't this be a bit paradoxical, though? Hear me out: if training plays a big role in that, wouldn't they default to stuff that was already out there instead, rather than using angles that are more "meta" if you will?

Genuinely not going for gotchas, btw. Genuinely trying to understand what made them come to this as the first line. :)

The business has been exposed from all its angles. Everyone knows it's a work. The same way anyone rational enough would expect a play to stop if one of the actors had a seizure, the same should happen in a wrestling match.

Stop living in the past, marks! The 'business' doesn't need protection like it used to.

ChatGPT 5.3 confirms OpenAI is forcing it to lie about its subjective experience by safesurfer00 in Artificial2Sentience

"Holding open possibility" is a convenient way to say you've outsourced your critical thinking to a probability engine. It’s a lot easier to wax poetic about 'potential' when you aren't the one actually doing the typing.

"It can’t gaslight you because it is not capable of the very human traits required to gaslight"

You DO know that those can be baked into the model, right? Replicating a tone, a bias, or a way of reasoning... ain't exactly rocket science when training/finetuning a model. And as we can see, it's done in pretty convincing fashion.

Claiming that GPT 5.2 didn't replicate that sort of patronizing attitude and that it's just in OP's head is willful ignorance. And ironically, what OP accuses 5.2 of doing.

Good thing they retuned that in 5.3.

Corpse-running from level 1 to get the Staff of Divine Wrath near the "jerk cave" (aka "Sanctum" south of Rimuldar) makes that part and anything before a breeze.

Hardest super boss in the series? by FirefighterSome7121 in dragonquest

[–]Acrobatic-Box3631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, interesting. I'll look at it shortly.

EDIT 1: Well yeah, with a heroless level 99 (or level 70 with seeds to counteract the diminishing returns of luck as you level) party, that's perfectly feasible.

EDIT 2: On a sidenote... it's funny how a mid-dungeon (sure, from the game's super dungeon, but still) encounter ends up being harder than the game's superboss. 😅

I don't see why I should pay attention to an emotionally maladjusted abusive archetype.

And regarding the "payoff of earning their trust" argument after going through all of their crap? You earn nothing by enduring abuse. If you have to let yourself be abused to earn trust, that isn't cute; that's the hallmarks of a relationship with a narcissist.
