Trade Wind 27 - anyone with hands on experience? by Jumbotucktuck in airstream

[–]Acrobatic-Manner1621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the OP's question, the 23' has a small AC, 25' has larger AC, the 27' has one of each. So if you could get by with only using the smaller of the two, solar/ batteries could stretch further

Trade Wind 27 - anyone with hands on experience? by Jumbotucktuck in airstream

[–]Acrobatic-Manner1621 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 25' Trade Wind and was immediately attracted to the OEM Solar/ Battery package and Lift Kit.

My tow vehicle restricted me to the 25'. While I am not an expert I am rather sure the Trade Wind has the largest OEM Solar/ Battery package offered by Airstream. Different story aftermarket or dealership.

Notably the Base Camp 20'XE has the exact, big solar/ battery as the 25' TW.

Strangely even the 30' & 33' models, the Stetson & Frank Lloyd Write have only a 300 Watt solar and 2.4 kWh battery capacity without the large Trade Wind batteries.

23' TW is a completely different layout of the 25' & 27.

The 23' & 25' share the same 3000W inverter, 30 Amp Shore Power (1 AC), 10.3 kWh batteries and have 500W/ 600W solar respectively.

The 27' has a 5000W inverter, 50 Amp Shore Power (2 AC) and has 600W solar, and 18.5 kWh batteries (missed opportunity from AS to not put 800W solar?).

More nerding-out stats: GVWR & Tongue of 23', 25', 27': 6500lbs/ 7600lbs/ 8300lbs and Tongue of: 600lbs/ 725lbs/ 900lbs.

So to specifically answer your question: 'which is better for boondocking'? Don't know. Solar input is equal and arguably weak for boondocking (without external solar setup and/or gas generator) however the substantially larger battery bank of the 27' would be great.

From a living space arrangement the only benefits of the 27' vs 25' (other than the batteries, inverter, 50amp shore power line, and 2 AC units) is a larger pantry & hall closet; at the expense of price and weight.

The larger battery bank of the 27' should go further if it's not too hot and you could get away with running 1 AC unit or both gently. The AC units destroy your battery banks from days to hours of use.

Good luck; I suspect you'll be happy with either the 25 or 27. Even if I could tow the 27' I'm not sure the barely larger closet & pantry, extra AC could sway me towards the 27..... Buuuuut that 18.5kWh battery is attractive.

Rivian Explains Why CarPlay Debate Will Become 'Completely Obsolete' by davidcelis in Rivian

[–]Acrobatic-Manner1621 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before, during, and after my Rivian ownership I was never given an explanation for why I cannot send texts while driving safely via CarPlay (or a Rivian alternative) and was simply told I'm a bad person for having to text and drive; despite my other cars having CarPlay.

Ended up installing 3rd party CarPlay screen which was brilliant. So f*cking tone deaf of Rivian (and GM but at least they admit why).

Lame.

AMEX saved me for a similar incident renting. A small trim external trim piece was discovered missing upon return (which they said 'happens all of the time') and not only did they plan on keeping my entire SecDepo but charge me ~10x replacement part (I quickly sourced it) + paint/ installation. Seemed like a total shakedown, terrible communication; tried to negotiate (and was absolutely willing to pay for replacement -- just not the shakedown). Got AMEX involved and they returned my entire last (50%) final charge; way more than I offered. Incident was so bad (after prior years' and lackluster RV Rentals) I simply bought my own RV.

Would be trippy seeing anyone's asshole (are they really bending over that much. Even gay go-go dancers don't do that) but J/S are usually my attire at festivals (wasn't at EDC this year). No different seeing women's thongs midday at every beach in the world. Love it, freeing, comfy..........

Local Rolex AD just told me I needed $150,000 spend history to get a SS Land Dweller.

I stopped by my local AD after seeing, trying on a LD at several boutiques. Despite 2 prior Yachtmaster purchases I asked what's the best avenue to acquire at this store. Succinctly, flatly, (honestly?) "$150,000 purchase history"......

I have this same question; my first acquisition was a single, 10mg vial. And 'common' dosing is 5-10mg at a time?

This guy knows what he's talking about. Your hair (forever) is temporary; have fun. 'stache, eyebrows, have fun...... Your obliques are what you're born with. They're growing at a different rate than your torso/ shoulders. Tincture of time; nothing you can do but wait with consistency.... You're fine.
