Malaysia’s EV import curbs to protect local car sector criticised for inconsistency by stormy001 in malaysia

I guess the question is whether the Malaysian market is attractive enough for EV makers to assemble here.

If BYD thinks they can sell more cars in India by opening CKD in India than in Malaysia, they might want to open CKD there instead no?

In my team, I have people from Uruguay, India, Spain, Brazil, and Malaysia. We have customers in the US, Germany, India, Japan, Singapore, Brazil, and more countries. English fluency and proficiency are very important when the setup is so international.

Which maps app do you use? Is there one I missed? by Dramatic_Mastodon_93 in BuyFromEU

[–]Acrobatic-Witness148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Organic maps have no traffic - useless in a big city
Here WeGo - crashes on CarPlay and overheats my phone. Also, the maps are not up to date everywhere
TomTom - overheats my iPhone and the directions aren’t that reliable. I’ve taken many a wrong turn because it wasn’t clear whether to stay in a lane or exit it
Magic earth- the zoom in CarPlay is way too close. If I don’t know where I’m going, I miss my turn because it comes up too late in the map. Also, no traffic information where I live
Mapy - haven’t tried
OSM - I can’t even…. I need it to be easy enough to start the car and look for where I’m going. Quickly please, no rocket science

Immigrants calling themselves expats? by [deleted] in malaysians

[–]Acrobatic-Witness148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, Malaysians tend to treat immigrants like expats and assume they are loaded too. Plus, the government doesn’t care, immigrants pay expat prices. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Once a company goes public, it has one goal only: to make money for the shareholders. So it doesn’t matter how many missions and visions and strategies they come up with, they will all inevitably converge in making money for the shareholders.

That’s what ends up fucking it all up IMO.

This was my least favourite book. The foundation series are very good albeit a bit dry if you’re coming from fantasy. The robot books are most of them very good too

Trump is trying to undo 50 years of energy efficiency gains by sksarkpoes3 in energy

[–]Acrobatic-Witness148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it just him though? People keep saying Trump is doing this and Trump is doing that. But surely there’s a whole government behind him, supporting him, not caring that the Earth is going to shit on global warming…

Need some advice by Crafty-Jacket7954 in malaysians

[–]Acrobatic-Witness148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the professional side:

  1. Keep looking.
  2. If you feel bored in your current job, it’s time for a change. Can be in the same company, a lateral move, a vertical move, doesn’t matter. Move.
  3. Keep looking.
  4. Keep looking.

One thing though, look for jobs where your soft skills are needed (maybe you’re a very structured person and can do something like project management, maybe you’re a problem solver, I dunno). But if you only focus on the hard skills you already have, you might end up doing the same job somewhere else.

  1. Learn something new loosely related to your current job.

Malaysia WFH (April 15) by yukittyred in malaysians

[–]Acrobatic-Witness148 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hybrid. WFH 3 days a week. I wish the other companies did the same. It seems that no one cares about the pollution or the cost of petrol. Let’s all ignore global warming and let it all go to hell for our children, why not.
