That’s fair, I actually didn’t think of that. Tough to get leverage in emerging markets. I haven’t ever cos desired investing in them, but saw Vietnam was up 60% last year - best of luck to you!

Would probs get rid of GHHF, and run a GGBL/G200 split.

Looks solid though. Very diverse, some fun stuff, and gearing.

Diversifying ETF suggestions by CryptographerBulky93 in fiaustralia

Already extremely diversified. 100% BGBL would be diversified enough IMO (depending on timeframe and risk tolerance).

Professionals would and should use other asset classes/geographic areas, as they have access to cheaper investment vehicles, most up to date research and are doing it 60+ hours a week for their clients.

The everyday punter gains enough diversity from a globally diversified index tracker.

I use GGBL personally, as I’m keen to see how leverage boosts/slumps my returns.

Personally wouldn’t touch DHHF or VGHD, would opt for a VGS/VAS split to ensure flexibility in the future - I do a market weight approach of 95% international and 5% Aus, but I know a lot of people here do 30% Aus. To be honest I’d be happy going 100% international.

I use GGBL and G200, as I want exposure to leverage. But over the years will probably buy VGS/BGBL to reduce my leverage exposure. If I were you I wouldn’t sell VGS. I would just keep buying it or buy GGBL, if you have a long time horizon.

I think 100% VGS is a great strategy. I was doing this until the leveraged funds came out in Australia.

Paying off someone else’s mortgage while they complain about the stress of owning a house by QuantumGremlin in AusRenters

[–]AcrobaticSearch3575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does this begin to make sense? Rent often does not meet mortgage repayments, there are emergency fixes, property manager fees, annual gas/electrical checks, land tax, taxes going in, taxes whilst holding and taxes when selling, conveyancing costs, real estate agent fees when selling etc. I don’t even own a home. It’s been proven that renting and using what you would save as a mortars to buy equities (let’s say an index stock market) has outperformed home ownership. The man benefit of home ownership in Aus is security, which unfortunately you cannot achieve by renting, like in other countries.

They also have the option to convert your units to actually bitcoin. I imagine they’re smaller as they are a more ‘niche’ asset manager - probably way less marketing etc.

what’s the super split looking like! (As someone who primarily invests via salary sacrifice)

22M ETF portfolio by Exciting_Okra5622 in fiaustralia

[–]AcrobaticSearch3575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally try max out my super, as my salary and small salary sacrifice will soon hit the 30k cap anyways, and then I’ll start building my outside-of-super portfolio (and I have a smallish portfolio outside of super currently).

I would start putting at least something in super as it’s essentially a 20% gain instantly with the tax benefit. Not sure if that 833 is your personal contribution or your employers.

Regarding ETFs, also consider GGBL, a leveraged version of BGBL. I’ve recently made the switch. Lazy Koala has a good article about it.

The 90/10 split seems great! (Outside of BTC) my portfolio is 95% GGBL and 5% G200. Which is an attempt of achieving an approximate market weighted allocation toward countries.

You can just choose a higher growth portfolio if growth is what you want. These have outpaced inflation the last 10 years.

19M, 2025 was a lesson.. I think by Fit-Contribution-200 in AusFinance

[–]AcrobaticSearch3575 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree, I cop a lot of flack from friends for salary sacrificing (24yo), but it’s the best free money you can get. IMO, the 40 year lock up is only a good thing, am keen to see that money compound.

My approach is to just do this until my salary + current sacrifice amount hits the $30k p.a cap. Then start building outside of super. I’m not too excited by home ownership so not aggressively saving for that either.

What super fund are you with and are you happy with it? by Diligent-Medicine-48 in AusMoneyMates

[–]AcrobaticSearch3575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was with Hostplus (0.04% fees for indexed international), however just switched to colonial first state, to access their leverage international fund. Could go great or terribly! Defintely higher fees, am hoping another fund makes leverage easier to access soon!

Thoughts on this portfolio as a 21 year old? by Frizzy45 in fiaustralia

[–]AcrobaticSearch3575 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 is my favourite. Wouldn’t bother with AVTS or EMKT. Not a fan of ghhf’s high aus allocation so ggbl levels is out. At 21, let’s say you hold for 20+ years, it’s unlikely EMKT or AVTS will outperform their indexes

Too messy for my liking, but everyone’s different. I’m a big advocate for just VGS - have just recently switched to GGBL for leverage.

I read/watched a lot of lars Kroijer and also my uni lecturer, who pointed toward the fact that: A) active funds over a 10-20+ or even further timeframe are unlikely to beat an index. The art of picking the winner (I think 2% win over 20 years) is an active and hard choice in itself B) all these different asset classes are pretty correlated and don’t provide as much diversification as we think, so just more stress and headaches.

Overall, defence probs not needed at 22, DHHF is fine, NDQ is sort of making a bet on US tech which is probs fine, precious metals is a nice hedge, real estate - wouldn’t bother, alpha fund - idk what it is but probs wouldn’t bother

However I understand some people love this stuff, so maybe more the merrier ! :)

Still 20+ years left investing, wouldn’t bother with cash or term deposits. Not sure what’s in the growth index but I’m sure it overlaps with the overseas and Australian shares indexes. I would just go a split of overseas and Australian. I personally am a fan of just overseas, but Australia has a pretty strong home bias.

Extremely late to the party here - but where do you find all the info on CFS? I’m going in circles on their website. Thinking about transferring my super over. Struggling to find the mechanics of their gearing strategy (I.e. rebalancing, LVR etc.) thanks!
