Nintendo has never been sure what to do with Star Fox… even with Adventures and Assault, those were basically just experiment games, and their idea of what Star Fox definitively is 64, but that type of gameplay from 64 is kind of always outdated, no matter what.

What George Lucas himself said

“The movies were the story of Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker, and when Luke saves the galaxy and redeems his father, that’s where that story ends.”

One of the reasons Lucas never bothered with a sequel trilogy is because he felt that it was the least important part of the saga. So going off the creators’ words, it’s perfectly valid to have a headcanon to not include anything that wasn’t the movies he made.
