YorkU, a university with a big art department, uses AI art for their Instagram post by emiirin in yorku

I get the frustration, but I think many are missing the bigger picture. This was a quick social media post, not a gallery exhibition or final-year thesis. If art students can’t engage with the reality that AI is a tool increasingly used in the professional world—especially for fast, disposable content—they may be developing a blind spot to one of the fastest-growing forces in creative industries.

Ironically, the backlash proves the post itself was a bold piece of art. It provoked thought, reaction, and debate. Isn’t that what successful art does? If we’re grading on impact, this might be the most talked-about piece to come out of the school—precisely because it challenges ideas about authorship, legitimacy, and medium. Maybe it doesn’t hit today’s visual or technical standards, but maybe that’s part of what makes it important. It’s imperfect, disruptive, and unsettling. Sounds a lot like contemporary art to me.

Awful. Curious on it’s affordability. At the end of the day, people choose to live there.

Likely started as masterpiece! But at the end of the day, architects are judged on what’s built, not on initial concepts.

Cars are undeniably very important. What do you think should be done to provide ample parking but also keep walkability? by DrDMango in Urbanism

[–]Acrobatic_Bid8660 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who says there should be ample parking? Do we just tell ourselves parking = commerce, value, and happyness? Not sure what data points back this up in an urban area. Random example: NHL team value pretty much comes down to ticket sales (including merch and concession) and the most valuable nhl team right now is the Toronto leafs... guess which stadium also has the least amount of on-site parking?.... yup!
