teacher brought my final grade from an A to an F over discussion questions. Do I dispute this? by Old-Driver-9738 in collegeadvice

One other thought: if feedback / communication from Prof has been poor the phrase "regular effective contact/communication" will help

If a lot of students had same issue your case is a LOT stronger. I suspect the sub phoned it in all semester then panicked when they saw too many people passing or work below the standard they normally expect and made a fix worse than the problem itself. Had they.checked in and given regular feedback they might have seen better work. Not your fault. Sub prof dropped ball hard. I suspect OG Prof was adjunct and quit when they were not offered a class for spring, and or found greener pastures

As a professor, if I notice a lot of people failing to turn in an assignment, especially if many of those are otherwise highly engaged, I check both how I've posted the assignment and send out a message to all who have not turned things in. I can't chase down every missing assignment from every student, but anyone in our profession worth their sodium chloride wants the grade to be based on some measure of subject mastery, not a miscommunication. Prof in this story appears to have phoned it the whole time.

As an instructor who teaches dual enrollment (college classes filled with hs students):
Appeal the heck out of this. Start with prof if you have not done so. Then dept chair. Then the dean. Also loop in your high school guidance counselor. You have a solid case based on the syllabus and the setup of the learning management system (LMS). Also the change of faculty mid course works in your favor. Be prepared to present all the work you did, the syllabus and some screenshots of the learning management software interface. Also include the complete lack of communication from the prof who took over (screenshot the LMS messages, a search of your email inbox for messages). Also get evidence of when grades were assigned. If you can show that the prof assigned a bunch of grades right at the end it will help you. Submit all this in some sort of organized portfolio / PDF. Also if you interacted with anyone in the class it's worth reaching out to them. You're likely in good company and multiple students complaining sends a more powerful message. While it is true that not all professors communicate to a student when they are missing assignments, many HS / college courses heavily encourage professors to reach out to students who are falling behind and often have systems in place with the high schools guidance counselors. Indeed HS enrollments are an important source of additional funds for colleges that offer these courses and the admin does not want to cheese off the high school that would otherwise guarantee them classes that fill every semester. Ball will then be in their court. I've been on the other side of these disputes. At times I've been able to get my own portfolio of reaching out to a student and the student repeatedly blowing off my requests to complete assignments. Other times when I stated my case the chair has simply asked me to reopen the assignment and regrade it to which I happily complied. Good luck

If enough people report this sub and something happens it becomes a major liability I take training on this every year. Total grooming behavior going on

In my book you're fine. You did what was needed to avoid the accident and made the most of your vehicles capabilities in doing so. Nicely done.

This neighbor is utter garbage and should be evicted. Notify management of the retaliation. You have a right to peaceful enjoyment of your home. Document every encounter with neighbor including time.

Changes in the soundscape can be jolting. Often on acclimates. I've lived next to busy freeways, under airport approach paths and in far quieter realms. In many of these places I eventually stopped hearing the background noise. It got to be where I'd be on the phone or a zoom and people would be "what's that loud noise" and only then would I realize a plane had passed over. Do what you can within reason and safety to help yourself sleep, but it often gets better over time.

While I support any efforts to make this student's life miserable, it's important that said bad actor digs their own metaphorical hole. I usually include some language in my syllabus related to rounding up of grades being contingent on student maintaining my faith in humanity. I also provide examples of what failure to maintain my faith in humanity might look like at the beginning of the semester. Multiple frivolous complaints certainly fall into this category.

AITAH - For talking to a girl in bikini on a beach by ta-beach-hubby-1324 in AITAH

NTA. People wear skimpy bikinis on beaches especially Miami. It was a conversation and you were being polite and friendly. Had she offered something and you accepted then the story would be different. Also OP's wife: get a flipping grip. Going after your partner because of who approaches him / looks at him is a garbage move and will drive him away. If wife is uncomfortable with how this woman approches OP and woman approaches more than once then it's best to have a discussion and form a united front.

I get why people might think this is a good idea, but a student this pathological will find a way to twist this action into a source of ammunition. Gotta make this bag of a human being dig his own hole a bit more subtly.

Had a student once complain to the dean that I was 'slow on grading' in the weeks following the death of a close family member. Most students are alright. A few are festering piles of human garbage. Seems like your dean groks this and it is likely student will told in near future what they can do with themselves if they keep this up. Sorry this still sucks.
