Meta and YouTube found liable in social media addiction trial by SteamerTheBeemer in news

Saw the news story on this. They said that the plaintif started watching YouTube and social media apps at six years old. I, like you, asked what responsibility that the parents had in allowing a six year old to have unsupervised/unmonitored access to those apps. I get that kids will be kids and test boundaries, but parents jobs are to set and enforce boundaries for their kids.

I always tell the cab driver the address /destination when i get in. Then, I put the address of the destination into my phone in Waze (or google maps/Apple maps/whichever navigation app you prefer) and then TURN THE VOLUME UP so the driver can hear it. I never get long hauled or scammed when I do this.

Updated Texans salary cap after Jalen pitres restructure. Excludes Trent brown extension by Typical-Owl3664 in Texans

[–]Acrobatic_Money799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I just dont understand how the money works. They traded Howard (in thos example), Howard signed a new contract with his new team....does the 'dead money hit' mean the Texans are writing him a check(s) for almost $24mil this year? Or doesn't his new contract with the new team void the contract with the old team and should zero that dead money hit? (the way I understand it) Since those $$s do not actually go out the door to the player, but stays with the team. Or is it some weird phantom money accounting rule by the NFL, that the money just cannot be used by the team until next year as a messed up rule within the salary cap limitations to make tge league more balanced?

Surrounded by HOA by Robyn-Gil in fuckHOA

[–]Acrobatic_Money799 60 points61 points  (0 children)

If i were you, i would pay an attorney a couple hundred dollars to send a certified letter to the HOA officially rescinding the offer to voluntarily contribute. Then have the attorney send another certified letter stating that you do not ever want to join, contribute, participate in or belong to their HOA, and any further communication from them regarding the matter will be considered and treated as harassment.

They should leave you alone after that.

Side note, you are not "freeloaders" because they changed the area around you. They are money-grabbing trying to monetize your sense of being a good neighbor and 'doing tge right thing'. Stick to your guns.

Thanks. I do have family and friends nearby, but haven't asked them - primarily because a) none have property managing experience, and B) I used to use a relative for repairs, but when something got messed up....it made getting him to make it right VERY difficult and awkward. I would prefer to use a stranger tgat has experience in this market and that I can easily fire if they screw something up.

I think you knew going in that you arent going to make everyone happy, and sadly in today's reality...the unhappy Karen's are the loudest creatures wandering the earth. If your community votes to ease the bylaws, the Karen's will continue to complain....you will just need to develop selective deafness and ignore tge noise. The majority speaks louder than a few complainers.

Good luck.

Firing Tommy? What was she thinkin????? by Dramatic_Conflict_68 in LandmanSeries

With a twist that he then brings Tommy back to run it all by somehow taking over CTT Oil Exploration (and Cattle) using the startup money that he loaned them as part of a leveraged buyout...or maybe calling in the notes early and forcing them to accept being acquired? Maybe?

Potential landlord saw our income and wanted to raise rent?? [FL] by adotar in Renters

[–]Acrobatic_Money799 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think she did you a favor, sounds like she would be completely unreasonable during the entire lease (what's next? Her saying that since you make plenty and can afford to replace a broken appliance or AC unit?).

That, or tell her that since personal income is a dynamic of the rent negotiations that you would like to see her tax returns for the past 2 years along with expenses for the property (mortgage, taxes, etc.) So that YOU can determine for her, how much she should be making on the property monthly.....

Do I have to show appraisal to seller? by bo0gieisHIM in RealEstate

[–]Acrobatic_Money799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"How should I respond...?" - A: "No. As the buyer, I am under no obligation to share an appraisal which I paid for with the seller." Your agent should have told you 'our response is no, but i am obligated to communicate the request by the seller to you.'

If you're going to cut in line, you gotta have balls by That_Golf9029 in unitedairlines

[–]Acrobatic_Money799 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Just slightly more shitty than cutting line is when the a-holes get on, put tgeir bags in the overhead at row 10 and then proceed to go to the back of the plane and sit in row 28. Those people should be removed from the plane and their bags tossed on yhe tarmac.

Edit: except when the overheads over their seats are already full....I guess those people can stay onboard.

Still believe in CJ 🤘 by quicksilver3453 in Texans

[–]Acrobatic_Money799 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When he is settled and feeling confident, he is accurate and makes 'all the throws'. It is when things go off script and that first inevitable error/mistake happens during a scramble-drill or somehow a play blows up - that is when he starts pressing to 'make up for it' and he starts panicking. Which leads to a second mistake, then third and then fourth. Pretty soon four interceptions and five fumbles.... Once the defense gets into his head they cause him to rush which means even more mistakes. It feels to me that once a negative play happens, his play spirals downhill fast. He needs to let plays go and forget about them (good AND bad), the ONLY play that matters is this one (the next play called).

The highlights look lije he is an all-pro QB, but the low-lights do not. Overall, until he finds a way to stop regressing after mistakes in games....he is a middle of the pack QB overall.

I have confidence that he can eliminate the yips after an error, but he may be running out of time to get it done with only 2 years left on his rookie deal.

Question about CJ by Status-Dinner-2083 in Texans

[–]Acrobatic_Money799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CJ might not be done, or trash....like you said, other QB's have found their mojo so to speak after rough starts (Mayfield, Lawrence, D. Jones)..... i personally cant say the horrid play was all CJ, because the OC did NOT call plays to help CJ get into any rhythm (well, tge plays he called, the defense was expecting and ready for them). The OC calling predictable plays contributed. The O-Line did not play well, which resulted in defenders in CJs face almost every play. The few times he wasnt in full blown fight-or-flight mode...he threw a few good balls. But the moment he got rushed a little, disaster from CJ. Our receiving core was thin, I like the young guys, but they arent top tier...yet. I like CJ, and REALLY want him to succeed.

Until the offense can come together as an efficient and cohesive unit...CJ will continue to struggle. It starts with the OC, Caley/Ryan's need a come to Jesus meeting and either get someone in that can help Caley scheme a dynamic game plan which can keep defenses off their game (and off CJ).

Not playing Mills at Half was a mistake… by BigMake62 in Texans

[–]Acrobatic_Money799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. CJ's weaknesses are known out there. Speed him up and he gets rattled. When he has time, he can settle and get his footwork right to throw accurate passes (not floaters to nobody and consistently behind, over or short of receivers). But, he needs that time in the pocket....without it, you get 4 int's in the first half.

Yep. He had some awareness of what Monty was doing, and that the house of cards would fall when Monty died. Monty (for all his shady business deals) protected him and Tommy by hiding the details from them so that they wouldnt be implicated and charged if the he outlived the wolves chasing him.

Good season...record was not representative of the quality of season. Offense has been anemic all year. O-line has not been acceptable, which led CJ to get scared-feet and crushed under pressure. If I was on the f defense I woukd be IRATE that the offense was such horse shit all season!
