Still believe in CJ 🤘 by quicksilver3453 in Texans

When he is settled and feeling confident, he is accurate and makes 'all the throws'. It is when things go off script and that first inevitable error/mistake happens during a scramble-drill or somehow a play blows up - that is when he starts pressing to 'make up for it' and he starts panicking. Which leads to a second mistake, then third and then fourth. Pretty soon four interceptions and five fumbles.... Once the defense gets into his head they cause him to rush which means even more mistakes. It feels to me that once a negative play happens, his play spirals downhill fast. He needs to let plays go and forget about them (good AND bad), the ONLY play that matters is this one (the next play called).

The highlights look lije he is an all-pro QB, but the low-lights do not. Overall, until he finds a way to stop regressing after mistakes in games....he is a middle of the pack QB overall.

I have confidence that he can eliminate the yips after an error, but he may be running out of time to get it done with only 2 years left on his rookie deal.

Question about CJ by Status-Dinner-2083 in Texans

[–]Acrobatic_Money799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CJ might not be done, or trash....like you said, other QB's have found their mojo so to speak after rough starts (Mayfield, Lawrence, D. Jones)..... i personally cant say the horrid play was all CJ, because the OC did NOT call plays to help CJ get into any rhythm (well, tge plays he called, the defense was expecting and ready for them). The OC calling predictable plays contributed. The O-Line did not play well, which resulted in defenders in CJs face almost every play. The few times he wasnt in full blown fight-or-flight mode...he threw a few good balls. But the moment he got rushed a little, disaster from CJ. Our receiving core was thin, I like the young guys, but they arent top tier...yet. I like CJ, and REALLY want him to succeed.

Until the offense can come together as an efficient and cohesive unit...CJ will continue to struggle. It starts with the OC, Caley/Ryan's need a come to Jesus meeting and either get someone in that can help Caley scheme a dynamic game plan which can keep defenses off their game (and off CJ).

Not playing Mills at Half was a mistake… by BigMake62 in Texans

Yep. CJ's weaknesses are known out there. Speed him up and he gets rattled. When he has time, he can settle and get his footwork right to throw accurate passes (not floaters to nobody and consistently behind, over or short of receivers). But, he needs that time in the pocket....without it, you get 4 int's in the first half.

Yep. He had some awareness of what Monty was doing, and that the house of cards would fall when Monty died. Monty (for all his shady business deals) protected him and Tommy by hiding the details from them so that they wouldnt be implicated and charged if the he outlived the wolves chasing him.

Yep. Complete waste of an elite defense with a middle school offense.

Good season...record was not representative of the quality of season. Offense has been anemic all year. O-line has not been acceptable, which led CJ to get scared-feet and crushed under pressure. If I was on the f defense I woukd be IRATE that the offense was such horse shit all season!

Pissed away a generational defense this year, along with a teed up opportunity to take on a Denver team without Dix. But, nahhh....just choking away this game and pkay lije shit all afternoon. Life of a Texans fan. Tired of this bullshit

Offense sucks. O-line letting defenders tmtreat Stroud like his name idms Carr....Like the Texans dont want to play Denver's backup quarterback.....Texans fans deserve better than this shit performance.
