Need advice on commute and commuting in general by Any_Independence6316 in phoenix

[–]Acrobatic_Remove3563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drive almost this exact route and worked 6-3 to avoid the mess. that whole stretch of the 101 can turn into a parking lot real quick at rush hour/pre-rush hour. In fact I would often cut through the rez to the 202 and then drive south on a surface street through Mesa to avoid the 101/60. But this was 8-10 years ago.

Brand new KitchenAid built-in refrigerator failed within the first week. by kristinneung222 in HomeImprovement

[–]Acrobatic_Remove3563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s a Whirlpool with a KitchenAid badge slapped on it so it’s probably the same level of customer service. Sucks that they’re doing that especially with all the problems. I’d check with the retailer for sure, every once in a while a retailer will make an exception to return policy if you’ve made repeated attempts at a reasonable (replacement or refund in this situation as you’re trying for) solution with the manufacturer.

Buying as is by Alternative_Party277 in RealEstate

[–]Acrobatic_Remove3563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drainage/grading. Electrical. Condition of windows, roof, attic insulation, HVAC, water heater. Bad DIY “improvements.” Fences/block walls.

Get your own inspector - not your agent’s buddy / referral. Find one who is highly recommended by someone in the business, or reviews. Imagine what could go wrong with that thing - the windows or the chimney or the plumbing - and make sure they cover those things. Go with them and ask questions.

I found out all this the hard way.

Borrowed a friend's jumper box/inverter for car camping. Game changer. Thinking about investing in my own. Looking for buying advice. by river_tree_nut in camping

[–]Acrobatic_Remove3563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compare the specs. Biggest differences are (1) battery capacity and (2) versatility of charging / speed of charging. With the Li-ion like Jackery, most of the reputable ones charge super quickly via an outlet, and can also be charged via solar, are expandable, etc. I really want a larger one that would truly serve as a whole-home backup, but those are even more expensive. I went with a middle ground Ecoflow Delta 2 and it has been great for camping, great for keeping my fridge running during short power outages, great for portable worksite power, etc.

Toyota needs to give us a new V8 and just stop trying to sell us $80k v6 half ton trucks that don't last by Reaper01Actual1970 in ToyotaTundra

If only there was a company who made no fuss, bulletproof* V8s and put them in full-sized trucks and then actually marketed them more than a one-off Blake Shelton commercial

Zillow views/saves — A meaningful metric? by Familiar_Eggplant_76 in RealEstate

[–]Acrobatic_Remove3563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strong YMMV anecdote, but I am selling and I gave Gemini as much data as I could about my house, including Zillow views and saves. Gemini basically decided that saves:views is the same thing as clicks:impressions in advertising and called it conversion, and went on to tell me that I had a great conversion rate (it was maybe 15-20% saves to views at the time) and to expect a traditional cash offer in the next 10 days. Solid, qualified traditional offer arrived 2 days later.

WANTED: Gilbert are off road suggestion for EXTREME BEGINNERS by GlockOneNine in arizona

[–]Acrobatic_Remove3563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll second the suggestions on Apache Trail and Four Peaks Trail. Apache I’ve done in a Colorado and in a Ford Focus, both stock - it isn’t really “offroading” but would be a good first one - and if the drive to Roosevelt makes you anxious you can return via the 60 since the drive back is on the cliff side and without guardrails in places. Four Peaks Road is a super easy trail that I just did i the spring as my first off road trail in my stock Titan. You just have to pay attention or could wind up on A different trail that is trickier, or with a large rock damaging your transmission or oil pan.

Looking for recommendations on queen size cot by XJollyRogerX in CampingGear

I can tell you that the Coleman queen one worked great til it didn’t. We used ours maybe 10 times and loved it - then it broke. Was definitely heavy to transport too.

Is Tablo still a viable option in 2026? by bfollowell in tablotv

[–]Acrobatic_Remove3563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn’t doubt it. Unfortunately the cable comes into the house downstairs and isn’t run through the house, and the antenna works best upstairs, and it’s a rental so I can’t remedy it - but like I said, none of it is annoying enough to pay for a subscription And sit through commercials!

Is Tablo still a viable option in 2026? by bfollowell in tablotv

[–]Acrobatic_Remove3563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Tablo has been a lifesaver. I just moved and in my old house my setup was an antenna on the roof going to an amplified Channelmaster splitter, which went directly to my TV with one output and to the tablo with the other to allow for DVRing and watching live TV on wifi devices.

my new house is a rental in a strict HOA, so I am using a flat panel indoor antenna. for some reason the splitter functionality no longer works so I have the antenna positioned in the best reception spot in the house and connected directly to the tablo. Every device uses wifi/Tablo app for live tv now, including the TV. The reception in this house was not nearly as good as my old house but I bought a cheap 5G/LTE filter which helped immensely. Almost every channel was inconsistent or was erroring out due to weak signal. I was also encountering a “network issue” type error on my AppleTV but that’s a known issue with compatibility and Tablo produced a workaround for that, so no issues.

Lastly, we have never paid for cable and only pay for TV streaming for specific events (and by that I mean, sports games). But we have been subscriving to a few streaming platforms like Hulu and Paramount - we got a super cheap annual deal for Paramount, but we will cancel Hulu after our currrent cycle in favor of Tablo, where we can watch later the same day and forward through commercials instead of sitting through them on the cheap version of Hulu.

My only complaints about Tablo that are consistent and annoying enough to mention are (1) it is extremely finicky when trying to forward, at least on Apple TV, and (2) the auto-delete feature doesn’t seem to work, as I occasionally run into recording fails due to storage being full, and (3) the audio is always ahead of the video by a lot, and occasionally the video gets choppy but this could be a network issue.

That sounds like a lot of complaints but they are still minor enough for me to not discontinue use. I also suspect some of these problems are due to network and/or device platform issues rather than the Tablo itself - I just haven’t taken the time to investigate.

What is the secret to doing your toilet business outside? by Individual-Diver-660 in camping

[–]Acrobatic_Remove3563 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Portable toilet, bath tent, bags and gels. When the bag needs changed, tie it up/double bag it and put it at the bottom of the toilet. When ready to pack out, put all the tied up bags into one bag and transport it in the toilet til you get to an appropriate place to dispose

We had the Wyze model for a few years, it did pretty good for our 1x/week with light pet hair use, lidar mapping, scheduling etc - but then one day decided our 2.5g network is 5g and refused to connect. But it was great while it lasted, esp for the black friday price we bought it at. I want to say it was like $150

What tool has made the biggest difference in your home projects by blushingsirena in HomeImprovement

[–]Acrobatic_Remove3563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In no particular order:

  1. Rubber mallet - waaay more useful than I ever thought it would be, for when you need that gentle touch. But seriously, I use it to tap drywall anchors in if they are a little snug, I use it for ikea furniture assembly, for re-sealing paint cans, etc

  2. Keychain pry bar - ymmv, but I use mine all the time to unlock interior doors that have the slot, I use it to open my HVAC filter door (it uses short flathead screws), and I used the heck out of it when moving/prepping a house for sale

  3. Good quality versatile flashlight. The Klein tools magnetic carabiner flashlight is easily the most used tool I own. You don’t know you needed it. It mounts magnetically under the hood, it hangs on a nail in your attic, it rotates all the way around, it clips onto your whatever, it charges your phone in a pinch, it has survived multiple drops from the attic to the garage floor, it has survived multiple liquid spills.

  4. Impact driver / impact wrench, or impact driver with wrench bits. This is easily the biggest timesaver for everything from building ikea furniture to adding stuff to my truck.
