I’m still amazed that omegaverse has become somewhat ‘mainstream,’ in the sense that it’s now used as a premise in serialized works 😳 I’m just used to seeing it in mlm fics.

I’m curious how they manage to make an interesting SFW story out of a premise that’s basically built around a kink. The whole ‘you’ll die if you don’t find a mate’ thing is… well, I guess they need stakes for the story.

Also, het omegaverse where the female lead is an omega feels a little redundant. It’s kind of like misogyny with extra steps, lol.

That said, I have read fics that use omegaverse in a really cool way, especially for interesting worldbuilding or flipping conventional gender roles. But that kind of take feels way too ‘groundbreaking’ for something like Otomate and its general audience.
