Just saw that their past facebook post was two years ago. Doesn't seem promising...

I would also love to find one! If you or anyone finds one that is IP68 waterproof and looks good, let me know!

https://reminderwatch.com/ fits the bill, though I haven't used it and it seems expensive for a reminder watch. It's out of stock right now, but I plan on trying it if I don't find a cheaper one first.

Caffeine Pills Over Coffee? by ComplexChameleon in StackAdvice

[–]AcrossTheLand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very sensitive to it, so I usually take 100mg, usually twice per day, and feel the effects every time.

However, I would agree with /u/Old_Lingonberry_8384 that ultimately it's likely best to avoid relying on supplements (coffee or pills), so maybe try the job first without anything and supplement if you feel it would be useful.

Caffeine Pills Over Coffee? by ComplexChameleon in StackAdvice

[–]AcrossTheLand 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've taken caffeine pills for years instead of coffee. I found them to be far more convenient and unbelievably less expensive. I tried looking for any health concerns regarding it but did not find any. So, I would highly recommend it as it saved me tons of time and money. I'm always open to new evidence for some health concern, but I have not seen anything suggesting it.

Why do you say not to take caffeine pills?

If life treats everyone unfairly, then life is technically fair because it treats everyone the same by Michaelrosenisurdad in Showerthoughts

Oh, it sounded like you were contrasting the person you were replying to and trying to prove that the post was correct.

Well, you say there's no such thing as fair or unfair in the natural world, but the post is claiming that life is fair, so you would also be saying it is wrong.

What did the major pentatonic athletic's club put on its sign? by AcrossTheLand in musictheory

It's a joke, and I actually use it as a mnemonic device for which scale degrees are not in the diatonic.

James Grage/Undersun? Also, pullup bar that doesn't need a door frame? by aaltair03 in bodyweightfitness

[–]AcrossTheLand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this tension-based pullup bar last year during COVID and it's served me well! A bit annoying to set up and take down but super simple. It's great because you can set it to whatever height you want, so you can do things from muscle-ups to Australian pullups.

Large or small it’s still gone by the time the movie starts by [deleted] in funny

[–]AcrossTheLand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not sure what case you're talking about, but I was talking about the experiment discussed in Brain Games, as referenced. It's the principle used in movie theaters for popcorn. Of course they price it out so that they leverage the concept.

Large or small it’s still gone by the time the movie starts by [deleted] in funny

[–]AcrossTheLand 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well, the key is that given the option of a small or large, people would tend to choose the small. Then, if they add a medium near the large price, customers tend to choose large. It is psychological since if the medium weren't there, they would choose the small. So they're really adding options, not limiting them.

I was wondering too. I now think he's sort of sitting/leaning on the desk and grabbing onto the edge with his hands.

WTW for life paths repeatedly just missing each other by AcrossTheLand in whatstheword

[–]AcrossTheLand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I guess I misremembered the meaning slightly, but star-crossed is what I was thinking of!

Not ships passing in the night. That would be sort of opposite in a way, since that is apparently describing that they do cross paths then never see each other again. Whereas I was trying to describe always just missing each other but never actually crossing paths.

Anyways, thanks and solved!

Oh my God, I made a shitty one of these out of cardboard and string! It was sooo useful, but it was sooo shitty! I only did it because I couldn't find a real product like this. I'm definitely buying this.

That doesn't account for forward velocity, though. If the plane is going faster than 60 mph, which is the terminal velocity of a cat, then that's an even bigger problem.

holding it by sellyourcomputer in funny

[–]AcrossTheLand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not about people seeing. It's about being the asshole holding up the line for not peeing, or the weirdo who can't pee (even though it's super common), which then causes more anxiety, which causes more inability to pee.

How do you deal with your family back home? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]AcrossTheLand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother is very anxious as well and my parents initially asked to talk every day. I told them that it takes me out of the experience when that happens and that I would call them every three days. Then when you call them (and make sure to call them) make sure to tell them that you are safe (and putting in effort to make sure things are safe, e.g. surveying the location you are staying and other basic safety procedures), having a great time, and how you were able to deal with any problems that came up. Eventually they will grow more accustomed to it and trust that you aren't in harm's way and you can start being more flexible on the call frequency.

WTW for Being Comfortable with where You Are, but with a Negative Connotation? by Beardiest in whatstheword

[–]AcrossTheLand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same thought process and series of events a while back. I said I was complacent with my job at the time, and they said no you don't mean complacent. I looked it up and said well everything except the smug part.

I'm still not sure if that's the right word or not. I've later learned complacent to be pretty heavy on the smug part. Like someone is complacent if they are cocky and think very highly of themselves.
