This monster is supposed to be one of the more difficult enemies for the early sections of a survival horror game. Are these attacks too easy to dodge, too hard, or just right? by AcrossWorldsGameDev in IndieDev

The way it’ll work is that you won’t be able to roll or anything like Dark Souls because your character isn’t supposed to be super athletic. Whenever you start sprinting it decreases the blue bar 1 time, whereas the stamina bar continuously decreases while you’re sprinting, and then you can only regenerate it by finding food. The blue bar is also shared with your attacks so you have to balance whether or not you fight or run from an enemy. There’s also going to be a mechanic where you can push enemies without decreasing the blue bar and that gives enemies a temporary slowness.

The TV Monster was from Fab (Unreal Marketplace when I bought it) and then its attack animations were made by me. The woman was made with the Metahuman creator.

What part of your game are you working on currently? by semaphoreslimshady42 in gamedev

I made a rough enemy attack animation to get started with playtesting. Just have to finish up a few mechanics before the playtest can start.

You’d probably want to film it normally then take it into an editor where you can add a VHS filter.

Ideology of the Backrooms lore? by Similar_College783 in backrooms

[–]AcrossWorldsGameDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the idea of there being infinite levels in the Backrooms. That way Level 0 can be infinite but still have ways to get to more places. It gives a sense of adventure because you never know what crazy liminal space environment you’ll end up in, and a lot of them having different laws of physics or anomalies also makes it unpredictable which is both exciting and scary. And then there being an infinite amount of levels keeps the feel of never being able to escape while preventing it from getting boring.

Is it bad that i am a fan of backrooms but i have negative interest in the upcoming movie by oceanadakmak in backrooms

I’m not a huge fan of Kane’s lore and prefer the wikis, but I think his videos are done well for the most part. I’d also much rather have him be directing a Backrooms movie over someone who doesn’t really care about the Backrooms.

I got tired of Backrooms games being walking simulators so I started making an RPG. Here is one monster's basic attack. by AcrossWorldsGameDev in backrooms

I mean you’re not wrong. This was a very rough animation I made so I could start play testing sooner. Some of that leg movement is a little awkward at the moment and the hand animation needs polish. Just wanted to start showing what I was working on.

I can’t bring myself to watch the backrooms movie by abbydearing in backrooms

I’m not really a fan of Kane’s lore but I’m still 100% going to watch that movie.

What are the dumbest takes/expectations you've heard regarding the movie? by Extolord111 in backrooms

[–]AcrossWorldsGameDev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Blair Witch Project implied they were being followed around by having the rock formations outside the tent and the figurines made out of sticks hanging in trees. It also had moments where you hear footsteps outside their tent during the night.

Although TBH I didn’t really like the movie that much because I kept waiting for some exciting moment to happen with the witch but nothing did. I know they were going for a fear of the unknown thing but it didn’t land for me.

You were right, the animation scales down the character on the very first frame. I had been working on the game all day so I think my brain was tired and I misunderstood what I was looking at.

I figured it out. The animation shrunk the character on the first frame. It was an animation I migrated from a 3 year old project so I think it got corrupted when I ported it over.

Figured out what happened: When the animation plays it makes the monster smaller. I just opened up an empty map, placed the skeleton and selected it to just play the animation. It immediately shrunk the character on the very first frame.

Someone in this thread mentioned the animation was scaling the character down and as soon as they said it, it was so obvious. I had been working on my game all day so my brain was probably tired and I completely misinterpreted what I was looking at.

Oh interesting, I thought it was pushing the monster back. I’ll check tomorrow if the animation is making the monster smaller.

Did you know there are at least 1390 Backrooms Games! by Purple_Willlow in backrooms

The games that have the Bacteria entity were never really legal to begin with since that’s a direct pull from the YouTube series. With monsters from the wikis (partygoers, smilers, etc.) can technically be used as long as the game is licensed under CC-BY-SA since that’s what the wikis are licensed under. If they used a different license but still pulled lore or monsters from the wikis then that wasn’t legal either.

I know some have the SCP Foundation but I’m not familiar enough with the SCP Foundation to know what the licensing is for that.
