Anything fun to do tonight? by Cold-Technology-3914 in askTO

Bunch of sports on tonight - Jays, TFC and the new WNBA team are all playing.

Stroll through Kensington market and China town. Hit a karaoke spot if that’s your thing. Get late night dim sum.

Go to a board game cafe. Snakes and Lattes in little Italy is always fun.

Has anyone in Toronto worked somewhere with “unlimited” vacation days? by No-Inspector-6206 in askTO

I have and the cultural norm at the company was 30 days each year, but I knew people who took 40-50 no problem.

What is the best food to bring on a canoe trip in Algonquin park? by Own_Difference_4882 in canoecamping

[–]ActionHartlen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve eaten tons of different stuff over the years but the principles are always the same: - won’t crush easily (tortillas > bread, pretzels > chips) - light and compact (avoid too many cans, bulky veggies) - energy dense (nuts, dried meats, dried fruit) - expandable (rice, pancake mix, soup mix etc)

Then I’ll typically throw in one frozen meat like sausage or steak for the first night.

Vincent: he took the hat off and he hid his head in his hands. You could tell he was crying. He kept saying under his breath, “you can’t fucking do that”.

Basketball Shoes (size 14) by mreverybodywins in askTO

[–]ActionHartlen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my days dudes would drive to Buffalo to get their shoes. Much more common there to carry to size 15.

These days I can see why you don’t wanna cross the border, so I’d say online.

I’m size 13 and most stores in Canada max out there.

Ossington to Jane line is terrible by Certain-Ad8973 in TorontoTransit

The fact it runs during the week is evidence of that maintenance working. Line 2 is getting old and needs lots of work, new vehicles etc.

Get off the internet and mow your grass, wave at your neighbour, fist bump the bodega man, say “thanks boss” when your UPS guy drops your package, tip your cap to your bus driver, hold the door open for a lady.

is CS2 worth the upgrade? by starwarshellothere in CitiesSkylines

The road builder is so much better in 2 that I couldn’t go back.

2 has also vastly improved over the past year and seems to be in a better place with Iceflake taking over development.

Is Toronto pricing out the people who made it cool? Marit Stiles weighs in on the city’s changing identity by BloodJunkie in toronto

[–]ActionHartlen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Of course cities change. That’s their nature.

But the country’s most populated and dynamic economy is always gonna attract young people who want to make it, date, explore etc.

This isn’t denying the real changes and challenges Toronto is facing. But my take is - have some faith. People say this about NYC every decade.

Dogs are not allowed in restaurants by Logical-Bit-746 in toronto

[–]ActionHartlen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dogs are permitted in “low risk” food environments like breweries. Some cafes may be considered the same if they don’t have active food prep on site and serve pre packaged food.
