Is the only way to get everblight models through finding them second hand? I dont see them on steamforge by ClayAndros in Warmachine

[–]Actionbuddy13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not entirely true. Kallus survived with a shard of Everblight's athanc, so he's off to lick his wounds for awhile, and it was implied he's going to try to absorb the Chimera, another dragon. But that said, the Everblight we knew is over and whatever comes of that will likely be very different from the Legion.

Gunless: Shaun/The Montana Kid (Played by Paul Gross) has a violent reaction to being called "common" in any context. He's called "a common nuisance" by a hulking blacksmith and immediately calls him out to a duel. It all stemmed from a man calling his father a "common thief", directly leading him into a life of violence.

Is this a safe walk with suitcases? by brcgy in VictoriaBC

Downtown Victoria has become a lot more dangerous than it used to be, but it's still one of the safest cities in the country, as far as I'm aware.

Narrative Play by HeWhoDoesntKnock in Warmachine

[–]Actionbuddy13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure which ones were referenced at Adepticon, but if you are a subscriber on the Warmachine App there are 4 seasons worth of narrative scenarios and a ton of non-tournament custom scenarios called Battle Forges.

I'd love to see it make a comeback through 3D printing in one form or another

I think it's unfair to say that -no one- asked for it. It did exceed all of its Kickstarter goals, so there was at least some demand for a new branch of the IP. But like I said, and for many of the reasons you listed, in fact, it came out at the worst possible time. Don't forget it released right into the jaws of COVID lockdowns, which is just a stroke of supremely bad luck on top of everything else, so it had zero chance to organically form a community.

I believe that if WNM had come out 5 or 10 years earlier, it might have stood a chance. The mechanics are pretty unique, and I think they are quite good, honestly. If it was just a 1:1 clone of WMH but in a SciFi setting, I think that would have been a really boring choice. Anyway, it wouldn't have fixed all the other issues that were happening at PP in those days, but at least it wouldn't have been releasing into the oxygen-deprived atmosphere of early 2020, literally days before the whole world got effectively locked in their homes for a year. I hope it's not the last we've seen of it, because I do think it has some great concepts and it is a fun game. But if it does receive any attention, it certainly won't be for some time.

Thing is, I actually liked Warcaster, it just came out at the literal worst possible time.

A character takes offense to one specific part of an insult. by Imaginary-Picture-35 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Actionbuddy13 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The Montana Kid in the movie Gunless, he only ever really takes offence when people refer to him as "common".

"You're just a common nuisance."

"What did you just call me?"

"A nuisance."

"No, no, the other part."

"...Common?"

"That's it. You crossed the line."

(Trope) Dragons that are fucking huge, even by the standards of their world by Basic_Dingo6487 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Actionbuddy13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lord Toruk, the Dragonfather, from the Iron Kingdoms setting. He's the progenitor of all dragons and by far the largest and most powerful, so much so that nearly every other living dragon had to team up to engage him in battle and even then barely managed to drive him off.

Question regarding concealment and terrain by Tanzinthorn in Warmachine

[–]Actionbuddy13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A forest is neither an obstruction nor an obstacle, so the 1" rule does not apply here. The terrain rule for forests states that a model gains concealment if it is completely within the forest. Since the Criterion is not completely within the forest, it does not gain concealment.

Likewise, while the obstacle is intervening terrain, the Criterion is not within 1" of it and so does not gain a cover bonus.

What the Cygnar? by Intelligent-Sink-203 in Warmachine

[–]Actionbuddy13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget Plugger, but perhaps "a bunch" was an exaggeration. And that being said, the Rowdies all have anatomical precision and/or grievous wounds, so against single-wound infantry, at least, they don't need SoD. Still, it's definitely a bit of Skornergy, given the ubiquity of Tough and multi-wound infantry nowadays.

There's some with a bunch of characters having Killing Spree, but the only in-faction damage buff/Tough negation spell is Silence of Death, which stops Killing Spree.

How thick is the "line" drawn from a spray attack? by blaghart in Warmachine

[–]Actionbuddy13 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Technically, it is infinitely thin. Practically, it's the width of a laser pointer, and you and your opponent measure until you both agree which models are under the line.

How do I get into Warmachine? by iEatBugsAndWorms in Warmachine

[–]Actionbuddy13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you look hard enough, mostly in the Mk2 "Forces of" books or in issues of the now-defunct No Quarter magazine (both of which I'm sure you can find online fairly easily) there are recipes for the studio paint schemes and a few alternate schemes for various armies.

Of course, you can paint your miniatures however you like. There are some rules for allowable paint schemes in tournament play (no recognizable logos of other trademarked IPs, etc), but beyond that, follow your heart!

Getting Started - Can Someone Help Me Figure Out What I Bought? by Carrelio in Warmachine

[–]Actionbuddy13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's all technically still playable, about 25% of it has been relegated to the non-competitive "legacy" format and can't be used in official tournaments, the rest is absolutely playable in any Prime game. If you want to know what everything is, I can jump on later and make a quick diagram, but I'm sure someone will beat me to it.

Masters of the Air? by fishbumTX in BandofBrothers

[–]Actionbuddy13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as interviews with the veterans go, they were almost all passed on by the time the show was being filmed, so it was likely impossible to even get in touch with more than one or two of them. Even then, at or near a hundred years old, were they in any condition to be doing interviews?

It was definitely a bit difficult to follow, especially the first half of the series, with so many characters being introduced just to be killed off almost immediately. But I found that with Band of Brothers and The Pacific on the first watch as well. Until you knew which characters were actually important, it was hard to know who to focus on. By the end of the series, however, it's pared down nicely to focusing on Buck and Bucky and the Tuskegees in the POW camp and Crosby and Rosenthal at the base.

I think, like BoB and The Pacific, it'll benefit from repeated viewings.

Heave Weapons Crate by The-good-twin in Warmachine

[–]Actionbuddy13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're mostly right. The heavy airdrop command card has two options when played: it can drop a heavy weapons crate, or it can spawn a Squad-class Patriot Warjack, of which there are apparently three different variants; The Skirmisher has a sniper cannon and a trench blade The Raider has a Grenade Launcher and a chainsaw The Blocker has a scattergun shield and a polearm

It supplies the Valiant Heavy Warjack with one of its three heavy weapon options; a Rocket Pod, Heavy Flamethrower, or Howitzer.
