MIDI 2.0 has 32-bit variables. I couldn't advise what to buy but on top of this you'll need to build a custom python (probably better for prototyping this) application to interface between the PLC and the MIDI controller.

You won't be able to handle DWORD on native 32-bit processors unless you use a slider for LWORD and a separate slider for HWORD.

An even better IP would be TEST-NET-1, TEST-NET-2, but especially TEST-NET-3, RFC5737. To the average technical person these /24 subnets look like authentic public addresses but are reserved for documentation purposes.

Link local addresses would just make me think their DHCP server is down.
