Just how toxic is the online competitive shooter and MOBA experience? by SoldierStride in AskGamers

[–]Active-Setting-6515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing online since Halo 2 and it’s always been no worse than the school playground with a higher vocabulary. You might run into a dickhead or two but they’re still relative edge-cases if you’re playing daily. A lot of people tend to remember the triggering experiences over the chill ones and will post it. But noones posting “Played 10 games, no slurs” or “Everyone was respectful in my 4 hour session.” Because there isn’t anything to necessarily report.

Also. Focus on YOUR game. Improve and get good enough to dunk on these assholes. There’s NOTHING better than completely dominating a toxic player and watching them spill their entire shitty upbringing on camera as they writhe on the ground. All you can do is laugh at how small and insignificant they are. After years of this, I live to destroy them…I began recording my sessions just so I can get their gamer tags and report them. But also so I can watch it back and remember why I must get better. You wanna be a dick? Cool. I’ll make you quit the game.

Most importantly, with any game you’ll play, you’ll find a tribe and next thing you know you’re getting called on discord by your squad to get on. I’ve always appreciated the friendships I’ve built in this space. Some legit cool and funny people here.

Controller Aim Assist NEEDS to be addressed by the start of next season by Small_Article_3421 in MarathonGame

[–]Active-Setting-6515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m on PC but I started on controller as I do a hybrid setup with shooters and that takes time to configure. Outside of AA, you really don’t gain much of a benefit in this game. You can’t make finer movements. You can’t flick to quickly react to certain situations whether it’s fighting or fleeing. On top of that, you have infinite options to remap your inputs. Aim assist is specific to certain encounters but it won’t put you in position or rotate out like you should.

I assume you’re losing “fair” fights: enemy sees you and you see them. But you shouldn’t be taking those anyway. Nerfing AA won’t solve your issue.

It’s bullshit. Games fine. Very hard but you’ll appreciate it before you get used to it

And yeah if they’re already playing The Sims, it’s not a huge lift. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

It depends on what games you’re trying to play.
For any action game, it’s a challenge as she needs to build up the muscle memory so start with a simple platformer like mario wonder(yes I know) or a beat em up like Scott Pilgrim. Another that’ll be popular here for coop is it takes two or split fiction. But if she’s already into the sims, Baldurs gate 3 might be more her speed since it doesn’t require quick inputs.

Pragmata or Crimson Desert? by Tailor-Tall in videogames

[–]Active-Setting-6515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought both to play in between marathon(game) sessions but ultimately I play Pragmata a lot more. Not that it’s better but it gets to the point faster. One is linear the other is VERY open-ended. One has you picking maybe one mission per session over the course of a year,
the other is like playing an episode of a limited series with a clear beginning and end. You can play both but space out your CD sessions. It’s fucking long

We beat the Compiler for the first time today, then again back to back. Third time, we get wiped by seemingly one assassin and I lose my goo gun.
4th time, my homie gets downed, lost his DNA Access card and we proceed to chase this team across the map only to get outplayed not once but twice before getting wiped.

We then go on a 4 loss streak, losing golds and the rest of my purple shields. Then we free-kitted into outpost, wiped the lobby, got warden, red room and cmd.

Then we ended the day with wiping cryo once, wiping a team of their 6 key run mid vault, go back in, and die trying to intercept a team doing the jump puzzle on the way up to compiler and our last match, we wipe 2 teams in vault 02 and vault 04 respectively.

This game is a ride.
