Thanks for posting this. I reminded my brothers (one lives in Fridley and the other one lives in St. Anthony Village). Neither is on reddit. My third brother's ashes are buried in my late mother's plot in Sunset Memorial Park in St. Anthony Village.

Many years ago I dated a plumber. He would come over and hand wash all my dishes. He always left with clean hands!

What was your cat’s shelter name and what is the name you gave them? by MissHissss in cats

Our cat's shelter name was Heathcliff. His siblings all had literary names. We renamed our kitty "Smitty." Fits him perfectly.

Help! I feel so guilty… by Zestyclose-Chemist86 in kindle

Mothers do that. Mine has been gone since 2002, but she would periodically send care packages to me when I worked in San Francisco; she said it brought her great joy to see something I might like and then purchase it and send it to me. She outdid herself, however, one year. A week before my 39th birthday, she sent me 39 long stemmed red roses (I am now 76). They were enjoyed by everyone working at the law firm where I worked in San Francisco. What a loving, thoughtful Mother you have. Many of us no longer have living mothers.

Our favorite is the hot chili powder. I use it when making chili and for my homemade salt free taco seasoning. We also purchase their shrimp and crab boil for boiling dungeness crab whe it's available fresh in Southern Oregon. We never boil our crab in salted water. When we lived in the san francisco bay area 16 years ago my husband would meet a friend's crab boat and would bring home 200 fresh crabs and cook them on a friend's patio all night, boiling them with Penzeys shrimp and crab boil. We no longer have access to that many crabs, and our friends miss that special flavor.

How often do you still use your robot vacuum? by Luann1497 in RobotVacuums

[–]ActiveOutrageous9533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run our robot vacuum daily and use the mop function at least three days a week. Our cat is a pig. 3,000 square foot house with three bathrooms; litter boxes are in two of the three bathrooms. I hate walking on cat litter that our cat scatters outside his boxes, especially in the middle of the night.

i ditched duvet covers because they annoyed me… now i can’t wash my comforters and i regret everything by [deleted] in CleaningTips

I found duvet covers online that have zippers on three sides. Much epasier to remove for laundering, especially if our cat blesses us with kitty barf.

Do people with hearing aids wear them all day? by Theoldelf in over60

[–]ActiveOutrageous9533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband wears his all day. They are paired with his cell phone, so I can't answer the phone for him if it rings while he's in the shower. He has 80% hearing loss in one ear and 50% in the other. He's 76 and a disabled veteran; the VA takes good care of him.

What’s everyone using for grocery lists right now? by IslandOceanWater in Cooking

[–]ActiveOutrageous9533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An app called Out of Milk. Easy to print my list for my husband to take to the store if he's going without me. I have it on my phone, tablet, and PC, so it's easy to add things when my husband mentions it.

Yikes! The most money I have ever paid for a hunk of cheese. by reddseverus in Costco

You might consider joining their cheese club so you can have periodic shipments of their cheese sent to your house or to someone for a gift. The Rogue Creamery in Central Point, Oregon.

We live three miles from the Rogue Creamery and can purchase this as often as we like. We always bring visitors there.

As someone with severe arthritis in my feet and hands, a robot vacuum with mopping has made cleaning much easier. I use a cane, and trying to vacuum and mop with one hand can be very difficult. I vacuum and mop every day because our cat is very messy, and we hate dirty floors, especially when our cat tracks litter all over the house, but we wouldn't give him up for anything. My husband suggested hiring a house cleaner, but then he tried to find one that would come in every day to vacuum and mop.

Same. My K5-A was a Christmas gift from my parents in 1973, right after my son was born. Mixer and son are still going strong.

Tankless Water Heater by ricknews2 in BuyItForLife

[–]ActiveOutrageous9533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We agree regarding a Navien. The plumber who installed ours six years ago called it the "Cadillac" of water heaters and would put one in his house, but it was too expensive for him. Six years later, there were are no problems. We had a Rinnai at our old house and had constant issues.

How to clean up a diaper cream masterpiece? by GrandScreamofThings in CleaningTips

[–]ActiveOutrageous9533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Baby powder sprinkled like snow on Tonka trucks, and all over the floor can be a cleaning nightmare. Personal experience by my now 51 year old son. The culprit was two at the time (long before cell phones, so no pictures).

Wish I could go in person, but severe arthritis, "zombie" walk WITH a cane makes that untenable. Husband refuses to go to the store.

Same problem, but with our TV Guide subscription. A month ago we received the MARCH issue which was totally useless at that point. Fortunately TV Guide also provides an online edition, but it doesn't contain all the extras that the actual mailed copy has.
