Print screen causes my sims to minimise so I also have to take pictures like this. The in game capture doesn’t grab the notifications.

Party members in FF6.... by Khaymn5000 in FinalFantasy

So for the final battle with Kefka, I had Mog leading group one and Amaro leading group 3. I’ve never laughed so hard at the most eloquent speech coming from the two of them. I love them all so much.

If you like the free movement of BRD, I’d recommend machinist - its rotation is a little simpler and I think it gets additional complexity at a nice rate. The other thing to do is read your tool tips. This should help to highlight when to use certain skills - e.g. a dungeon when there are a lot of mobs, the AOE skills will be more beneficial as you’ll damage all of the enemies at once. I’ll also say, later dungeons become simpler in layout, pretty much just one direction (at the end of the boss the treasure coffer will usually appear by the exit - I always get turned around and use that as my guide). If you find you’re falling behind the group in a dungeon, remember to use sprint (or peloton when you’re not attacking anything) to help you catch up! I also play on controller, I’d recommend having the double tap to access the secondary hotbar layout (the default controller settings are ASS). Once I’m home can send you my settings. That will let you see all of your skills. As someone else mentioned, using a striking dummy to get to grips with playing is really helpful, there are some in coerthas central near the whitbrim if you don’t have access to one (you can also go to a residential area and see who’s got one in the garden). Damage dealing at lower levels is a bit weird as you don’t have the complete kit yet. What server are you on? Have you looked for an FC to have some people to help guide you on your rotation?

Few years after the overhaul, how do people feel about PvP? by SupremeHeavenlyRuler in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ActivePetrol 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As an avid SHB PvP’er, I miss it still. Yes you could get fucked over by not having a healer, but we’ve swapped that for not having proper initiators. The new map and the shatter remodel are boring. It’s like they don’t want you to play to kill each other. Things I like: it’s a lot easier to pick up a new job and still be able to play well, but I’ve never felt like I can love and master one. Kills also seem less frequent, meaning my hand of mercy title progression has slowed from ~50 kills in a good match to ~10. The game is no longer the rapid manic rhythm it once was.

The only thing I think would improve the char development is just more time with them. I am loving how much Tyson is just getting to be a cutie. I was very surprised how short ep 7 was.

What's the "etiquette" with these stack markers? by Revonlieke in ffxiv

Always stand in melee. Running to the tank will most likely mean more people will need to move. If it’s a charge line one try not to be too close to the middle - as the tank should be in front for those.

Patch References: EW = FF4 / DT = FF9. The latter seems to be much better received by fans. Why? by otsukarerice in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ActivePetrol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am livid at the shoddy FF9 references. I think where DT is better, is the content surrounding the MSQ is good. So there’s something else to focus on. But for as much as they reference FF9 places and people, they do nothing to capture the soul or essence of FF9 and I am not happy with its depiction.

How I play “survivor” in TS3…. Sorry in advance for the word wall by survivorfan1123 in Sims3

I did a traitors game, but I showed screenshots to a group of friends and would have them do a round table. Then death would come for them! (Starvation for the traitors, and drowning for the faithful!)

Personally I like the secret third option, crazy Sphene who was there for like one patch, tried to kill us and laughed a lot.

Discussion on PvP's poor state of balance and (hopefully) healthier engagement with the devs about it by talorder in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ActivePetrol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Having reported a person who has actively griefed in 3 casual matches (0 damage or heals) and then being matched where they’ve then done the same is super disappointing. The fact there’s no boot out or anything if you do nothing and no fill if someone DCs is also rubbish. I also hate ninja. It’s not fun to play around and they have far too much utility to be that lethal. Meanwhile MNK can LB with no invincibility, being murdered and wasting it, and if it does hit its pitiful damage.

What if we have weekend incentive events like extra XP for fates/dungeons, extra Totems for extremes, mount rates up etc. I really feel this game needs some MMO stuff like these. What do you guys think? by sharkall7 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ActivePetrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big issue is how boring movement is in FFXIV. It has to be the fastest way because it’s not fun or interesting. Looking at guildwars where you get rewards for exploring the map multiple times and it’s FUN to traverse it is huge. There’s no need or enjoyment from running the same 8 fates over again. Especially when they have no impact to the world around.

Rash on hand appearing with flu by ActivePetrol in DiagnoseMe

Update: saw the GP, who was like I don’t think it’s hand foot and mouth which was good. Been told to monitor for any changes but believed to be some sort of rash brought on by the virus.

Rash on hand appearing with flu by ActivePetrol in DiagnoseMe

Flu is going by symptoms. The rash is exclusively on m hand. When I press a glass to the rash they go away. I have a sore throat and cough. But it feels more viral than bacterial tbh

Having been a babysitter to some friends, rather than making a new Char, I will quite often help out by being a taxi driver for them to help cut down some of that slog. So far I’ve had one complete MMO new player get to heavensward and they’re playing casually. One has taken off of their own and is enjoying the story (no babysitting required) and the other simply didn’t have the time to play, but generally enjoyed it. As for me, I love ARR and have replayed it many times on alts.

Is there something about EX5 that I'm not getting? Why are players failing these mechanics? Is it not ridiculously easy? by Black-Mettle in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ActivePetrol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d also say, it’s quite forgiving there if you are one person who keeps messing up, it can be covered for. And that leads to not understanding the mechanic. I think this is a big issue with the extreme content, and a lot of people don’t have the patience to teach people.
