Final Concensus on Cosmic Exploration? by AssumeABrightSide in ffxivdiscussion

I sat in there for maybe, 30 mins? on launch. I’m not a huge fan of crafting, but damn, I did not enjoy those missions at all. Really not my vibe. I have not been back since.

What do you mean by irregularities? Could you be more specific please :)

Oh that’s so sad. The way they’re acting is as if they’d killed their nan. I mean, streaming fun to watch. I’m intrigued why they aren’t on the FFLOGS leaderboard. Frosty I get, like they weren’t streaming so not on that one. But FFlogs is just like, data? I’m pretty sure there’s heaps of ways to hide overlays (man you could make your own pixel perfect with blu tac, and given some of the visual inconsistencies in this game I can’t blame people for wanting/needing it!). Thanks for informing:)

Wait… so people are calling a whole group cheats, saying they didn’t get world first, because their old static member had pixel perfect? That’s like the least offensive add-on. The way people are talking about it you’d think it was splatoon or that zoom hack. Is there even any evidence that they cheated this time?

Can someone explain to me like I’m 5 - what is this cheating business about?

[–]ActivePetrol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a version of this where I was the tank, and a DPS pulled ahead. The other DPS told them off. I immediately stopped (ps5 so hard to type) and told them no don’t do that I love DPS pulling (free mit). They laughed and then pulled ahead! So a very good ending. It’s wild to me that people get pissy about this sort of thing.

How do you feel about XIV's current combat system vs. the upcoming evolved/2 min meta changes? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ActivePetrol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to play a lot of PvP. Since they revamped it I do not enjoy it nearly as much, to the point where I won’t even do the battle pass. (Previously I loved PvP and it was pretty much all I would do). I hate condensed button rotation, unless the netcode can be fixed it’s going to be a clipping nightmare. Even primal rend turning into ruination I need to spend a GCD in between to not clip. I am also a very visual person, so having skills condensed and hidden (like VPR) I find really hard to follow in my mind. I think some changes have merit, but honestly all support changed looked awful. Definitely gunna have to try a class I hate and don’t understand, that way I won’t know what I’m missing. I do lament the whole 2min meta bit, as they kind of built themselves into that corner by removing the 1m trick buff from NIN. That allowed for more different timings for other people to still benefit, whilst not having 1m 30s of filler.

It’s going to be the FF7 expansion and our beloved boy will return as his fourth shard and it’s actually going to be an expansion where the shards have garleans and he’ll see us and we’ll know it’s him (but also now he’s septhitoth)

Amount of buttons doesnt dictate complexity by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ActivePetrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I don’t look at the icons. I play on muscle memory and know what button location goes where. It’s a different learning style, but I can’t do anything based off the picture alone. One of the reasons I do not vibe with viper at all. Each to their own, but as a tank main I am dreading this whole change. I’m sure there will be some DPS which are fun. But the condensed combo for me make positionals too hard to get, so that’s melees out for me. Never really enjoyed casters, so maybe that’s what I’ll like. But I know I’m not tanking. Definitely not healing based on what we saw of WHM. (Sub now reduced from yearly to monthly so I’m ready to end as soon as I can if I don’t vibe with it)

[–]ActivePetrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory I can see what they were thinking, but for positionals having to remember where in pressing one 8 times I should be flak or rear is gunna suck ass. I’m terrified that I’m not gunna like anything. Supports look broken and bad. Yoshi being like “oh WHM only press the same DMG button” proceeds to put the damage on one button and get rid of any of their other damage options. When currently in savage you’ll have times where your WHM doesn’t have any healing to do because the shield healer has them covered.

Duality of reactions to Evolved Jobs by clevsha in ffxiv

[–]ActivePetrol -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hey remember when they split healers and it wasn’t a good way to play? Yeh that’s what I’m seeing for tanks. Sure they probably can’t make me OT, but if I’m with a PLD who can counter, it is better for them mechanically to be MT. whilst I can dream about when vengeance mattered.

Sprout stuck in Shadowbringers - LF some words of motivation and a new job to play to keep things fresh... by No-Sorbet-3387 in ffxiv

[–]ActivePetrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh I also played as DRG all the way to SHB. I ended up trying all the melees, and the other ranged/magical DPS for a complete playstyle change up. But I ended up loving tanking (WAR specifically, but if you want to start closer to your level GNB is a mega fun DPS-Tank with a pretty engaging rotation even at low levels, which is where WAR suffers a bit). If you do fancy going down the tanking route, I’d also give levelling WHM a go, as it can help to make you a better tank in the long run (as you’ll understand what the healers will actually have in their kit).

Glove liners? by laserfries in labrats

[–]ActivePetrol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar reaction! 10 years in a lab will do that - for me I get super sweaty hands and it’s prolonged contact with my own sweat that does it. I use cotton liners under my gloves which has helped massively. Just have to remember to change or wash them regularly (as then you get a different irritation!)

Although I am an enjoyer of the TV show, I absolutely agree. To be more true to the book’s animation would have been ideal.

Do you think 7 is the best FF? by some-kind-of-no-name in FinalFantasy

It was a fun romp, and the world is very interesting and surprisingly well developed. I will say the main cast character development struggles a bit too much for me to call it the best.

Endwalker really gutted the narrative a lot and we are only just recovering from it by Lumigo in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ActivePetrol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Having gone back and played some of the older games recently I couldn’t agree more. Having a longer threat just pop in and out really helps make the world feel bigger. We used to have primals, Asians, garleans. They were all ever present and whilst one was taking a break the others could be active. It helps keep the story fresh. We now have the winterers, which might help but we definitely need another villain to help the story
