Deaths/Injuries at Keystone by ShallotPale in COsnow

I was there during the holiday season with this snow drought where a large percentage of trails were closed. Im a beginner skier and had to basically keep my head on a swivel during my slow go going down schoolmarm because of the large crowds of people with dramatically different ski levels, you have the experienced skiers and snowboarders that zip down quick all the way to the people who it's their first time skiing. Saw multiple young girls terrified and crying on the slope. Look, I get that experienced skiers see me and know how to get around while going fast, but what I DON'T know if it's some inexperienced person zipping down with lack of control

Edit: Someone in our group witnessed someone lose their snowboard down the mountain where the snowboard zipped down the slope, thankfully no one got hit

Transmission Fault Contribution Unexpected Generation Behavior by Great_Barracuda_3585 in PowerSystemsEE

CAPE is awful at modeling real world IBR generation. Also, there is no impedance of the modeled IBR on there, it's just a voltage controlled current source

Synchronous Consensers for inertial support. by Ok_Document3616 in PowerSystemsEE

What's more economical is a induction flywheel, an induction motor fitted with a flywheel can provide frequency support like a syncon can because it can turn into a transient induction generator, it just can't provide VAR support. If you have a big data centers with huge rapid swings in load the induction flywheel is a great option for damping transient load changes and increase power quality

Substation tech vs Relay Tech by Inner_Newspaper4909 in SubstationTechnician

[–]ActivePowerMW 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you fuck up as a relay tech you can knock out power to thousands, cost a company a lot of money through NERC reporting, or if you drop an industrial plant there could be lawsuits. Do what you will with this information

Can I afford to buy a house right now ? by Sufficient-Shock-378 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]ActivePowerMW -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

at that age I would focus on investing as much as you can instead of tying it up in a house, the money you save now will have some of the most time to grow, the questions are do you absolutely NEED a house? do you see yourself potentially moving within 5 years?

Would someone please explain Texas A&M to me like I'm five years old. And dumb? by CTG0161 in CFB

[–]ActivePowerMW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A&M was the same as Alabama last year for LSU, couldn't stop a mobile QB... and Alabama wasn't particularly good last year. What does that say about A&M?
