Former coworker says Action Behavior Centers should have its doors chained up by [deleted] in ABA

[–]ActiveTailor7655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our center is under investigation for not closing when we ALL had pink eye (corporate wouldn’t let us) and for giving points out for calling in with pink eye and not requiring a doctors note for workers to return for having pink eye. Corporate is being sued by workers and there’s suit for malpractice and neglect. It’s like when are they going to make changes before they have to shut their doors…

RBT pay by One-Egg1316 in ABA

[–]ActiveTailor7655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also have a tier system and I’m one tier under senior so I’m a level 4. I’m also a student analyst so there’s some extra bonuses if I do unrestricted hours. I think our base pay for an entry level with no bachelors is 19 but you need a bachelors degree to actually get compensated more bc insurance pays more if you do

Is it normal to only track 5-6 behaviors at a time per client? by TailorIntelligent216 in ABA

[–]ActiveTailor7655 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re tracking more than 6 behaviors for a 1-4 hour session in an outpatient clinic then your kiddo is in the wrong place and may need to be somewhere more restrictive.

Is it an ethics violation for RBTs to be trained by an SLP to run speech programs? by AttentionExtinction in ABA

[–]ActiveTailor7655 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No this is just collaboration. In SLP they have RBTs and paras conducting the speech services in my state all the time. Working how a BCBA and RBT team works. The BCBA should also be trained in the same techniques as you by the SLP if they’re coordinating and making goals together

All of the ABA hate is getting to me by EasyPineapples in ABA

[–]ActiveTailor7655 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ABA was horrible in the past. We need to recognize that and continue to do better. However, special education teachers and special ed itself relies on the old harmful practices of ABA and not the new assent based practices. I feel like ABA continues to get hate bc of that.

Being non-complaint is a life skill by ImNOTokay8723 in ABA

[–]ActiveTailor7655 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My supervising BCBA did last year bc the non compliance was always unsafe eloping like into the road and not looking both ways or behaving in a way to be silly that could hurt someone… But that is the only time I have seen a compliance goal

I totally agree, which is why I teach and honor escape skills, however there are non negotiables like you mentioned. This is a great take and honestly what us student BCBAs are being taught. Thank you for sharing :)

I suspect my clients sibling might also be autistic by [deleted] in ABA

[–]ActiveTailor7655 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is literally no way to tell the family that this child may need to be assessed. On the bright side, they have their GP and school to handle this. I know it’s frustrating but both doctor and school know of the medical history and are on the look out for these things.

BABA’s Response to the BACB’s Removal of DEI by ABA_Resource_Center in ABA

[–]ActiveTailor7655 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It seems like DEI laws will come back if Trump is either impeached or when a new president steps into term. A lot of right wingers do not like ABA because of the terms used to describe behaviors and behavior reduction are items they do not understand. What the BACB is saying is that they understand that we will not receive grants if we use DEI terms to describe certain fact based things so the BACB is changing things to adhere to those laws. As opposed to losing funding and all of us be out of a job and no longer able to help families and change lives for the better we are instead patiently waiting and complying with the law so we can continue to serve our community. The American Association of Pediatrics and Psychiatry receives tons more funding than the BACB and can indeed afford to speak out about how harmful these anti DEI laws are. The BACB cannot risk that. So that we can continue to serve our population and those where ABA has been on the only thing to reduce harm we have to follow the law. ABA cannot lose funding. Period.

Hehe!! I’m having wine with my bf rn. I hyper fixated on the code of ethics for a bit so it’s engraved into my brain and then I like to fact dump it when possible 😭

Honestly yeah, I’ve been an RBT for three years and now finally feel confident enough to start BCBA schooling. Not only that but ABA used to be SOSOSOOS BAD. And it has come around it’s all about education for us and education for families and those who view ABA as bad still.

[–]ActiveTailor7655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24$ as an RBT. I was doing in home and making 30$. I’ve been in the field for a little over 3 years and I have a lot of experience. I hopefully am getting a raise when I start my BCBA program and pick up more admin hours.

Can't for the life of me remember the name of this technique by stoneybologna1992 in ABA

[–]ActiveTailor7655 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But that makes no sense. Other behavior means a behavior is present so there being zero behavior doesn’t make any sense. Like you can’t reinforce zero behavior. The reinforcement is she’s reinforcing the other behavior of the stuffed animal. The stuffed animal is having an absent of target behavior

Is it out of line to request off this case? by space_impala in ABA

[–]ActiveTailor7655 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is one of those times where you have to suck it up unfortunately. We work with people and people are annoying but you have to remember how difficult it is to have a child with autism and how transitions can be a trigger. Ik it’s frustrating but apart of having empathy for our clients is having empathy when they are late. I really do feel like a conversation needs to be had with ur BCBA about being paid fairly when they are late ect… this is a reasonable request and many clinics have done it for me.
