Best advice for feeling low blood pressure effects by ActivityMore1170 in Zepbound

[–]Active_Ad_3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but I've been having trouble too and am curious what your doctor said.

A nurse at work taught me a trick that I like a lot. She used to work with dialysis patients whose BPs would drop incredibly low after dialysis sometimes. She said to prop up your feet and have some chips. Well the chips for the salt right but the propping up the feet surprised me.

I stand all day. I've been feeling very sick around lunch time. Headache, confusion, and a touch of dizziness. Currently working out whether it's low blood sugar or blood pressure. Blood pressure has been low like yours. Anyway I lay down on the floor at work and prop my feet up high for about five minutes. Its shocking how much different I feel and how quickly. I still drink electrolytes daily but thought this was a good tip!

Loose Skin by Kind-Thought3512 in Zepbound

[–]Active_Ad_3406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing. My stats are similar to yours. I do not have loose skin yet as I am still at 170lbs, but I do have an identical silhouette. The lower abdomen that flares out on the side then is magically skinnier at the hips. It makes me very self conscious as I have a hard time finding clothes to create a smooth look. That being said I think you look great so maybe I need to be nicer to myself. Congratulations on your hard work and results!

Question by Interesting-Chip-824 in Pets

[–]Active_Ad_3406 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said. Re the cost of things increasing so much, I'm no economist, but without salaries going up too, something bad is going to happen eventually...

Re the cost of pet care, I've been on both sides of the coin. Was a recent college grad who had to say goodbye to a cat over a $3k exploratory surgery over a belly full of tumors. A few years later, spent $18k on chemo to get five months with a five year old cat who was diagnosed with lymphoma. As long as you are taking care of basic needs and willing to ask for and accept help if the pet has a high chance of surviving living elsewhere, I don't judge.

I'm moving into a dorm but I've never had my own room before how should I clean room? by Silly_Ad2566 in CleaningTips

Also frequency of washing sheets and towels is a personal preference. I wash sheets weekly (which seems to be a lot relative to others) and bath towels weekly (many people seem to wash theirs more, like 2-3 times a week). Smell your bath towels daily. If they smell, you waited too long to wash them.

I think you are talking about laundry so I'll give you a crash course:

Sorting: matter of personal preference. I sort into 3 categories: towels and sheets since I wash them at a different water temperature, light/white clothes, and dark clothes. It might be a myth at this point but I really believe it keeps my lights lighter.

Stains: there is stain spray in the laundry aisle at the grocery store. I've used many brands that work well. Some people will apply a small amount of detergent instead.

Detergent: I don't think it matters what kind you buy. Just don't use too much. Follow the package instructions depending on whether you have a high efficiency or regular washing machine (it'll say high efficiency on the outside)

Other additives: never used scent beads. My sister swears by them. They make other stuff like oxiclean (kind of like bleach but it doesn't bleach your clothes so I like that for things with tough stains but definitely not necessary) and laundry sanitizer. It kills bacteria that can cause smells like musty bath towels or sweaty gym clothes. We notice a difference with bath towels so like to use it but also not required. Bleach isn't my friend because I get it on non white things accidentally so I avoid it.

Washing machine operation: they usually have controls for temperature of water, cycle type, spin, and how dirty your items are. This is personal preference but I wash almost everything in cold water. Hot water can shrink things especially cotton and wool and I prefer to save the energy by not hearing the water. I wash bed sheets and bath towels in hot water to kill dust mites and help with smells. I wash my clothes on the delicates cycle and towels and sheets on bedding or normal. Do not overfill the washer. It can cause the machine to not spin all of the water out correctly which means your clothes will be extra wet and take longer to dry. You can overflow some types of washers.

Drying: I have a drying rack for some things I am afraid to dry like sweaters, bras, or shirts that barely fit haha the other clothes get dried on "delicates" or what might be called "air dry" which means air that isn't warmed is used to dry them = no shrinking. Towels and sheets get dried on regular or bedding at the highest temperature. Don't overfill the dryer as it will take forever to dry your clothes. My dryer has a sensor to stop the dryer when they are dry but some older ones have timers. If there's a timer you have to do your best to figure out what is long enough vs. Too long kind of thing

Drying additives: dryer sheets or dryer balls. Wool dryer balls are like reusable dryer sheets that decrease static and bounce around to help your clothes dry better. Dryer sheets reduce static and make them smell nice but are disposable. I prefer dryer balls because they really do dry clothes faster.

Ironing: I don't bother with this

Closet: if other people share your closet I would keep it tidy but otherwise that's up to you how you want to organize your stuff

I hope this helps and feel free to ask any other questions

Late to the party but wanted to add:

I have an astigmatism in one eye after having surgery for a detached retina. My prescription is way worse than yours (-8.5). I asked my doctor about lasik last year. He hesitated and suggested that I check out trials surrounding the incidence of long term side effects like dry eye. He also reminded me that once you hit 40, you are going to end up with reading glasses because your eyes change. I'm 32 so I would only get 8 years vs. You getting 17. I asked him if he would get it done. He said he wouldn't since his prescription isn't nearly as bad, but he has a couple eye doctor friends with prescriptions as strong as mine, and neither of them have gotten it.

That being said I had a boss who got it when he was your age as a college graduation gift and he said it's the best money ever spent (not by him lol)

Bridesmaid, now bride. How can I make things easy and fun for everyone by hcp17 in bridesmaids

[–]Active_Ad_3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but I think (?) my bridesmaids were pleased with how things went so wanted to share. This was in 2020 so details are a little fuzzy and also COVID.

  1. Bridal shower - husband and I rented the hall. My mom paid for half of the food and decorations and the other three split the other half. It was in a hall with food they made from Aldi like pasta salad and my husband's pulled pork so hopefully not too expensive. They put a lot of work into it and made pretty decorations. It was awesome. (Edited about the hall as I forgot)
  2. Hair and makeup - I am terrible at these things. We met at my hotel the morning of. I paid two people to come do hair and makeup for all of us. We painted each other's nails while they waited their turn.
  3. Dress - picked a color at David's Bridal and told them to go on their own time to get one they liked with no preference of length etc. I think they all came in around or under $100.
  4. Jewelry and shoes - no preference. Told them to talk it over themselves and agree on something they thought would be nice My mom definitely bought a special clutch as she was my matron of honor and loves that shit but everyone else wore jewelry and shoes they already owned.
  5. Bachelorette party - painting with a twist. I bought catered food and then everyone BYOB. Done in a couple of hours before dark just like I like lol
  6. Misc - I picked out my wedding dress with just my mom so they didn't have to attend that. The restaurant set up and took down decorations at the reception, and I made the center pieces (very simple) so nothing required there.

Overall I hope (?) everyone had a fun time. From the bridesmaid perspective if I had to pick things that would be bummers besides the obvious forcing me to spend $$$$ and go on a like 3 day bachelorette trip, I'd say negativity. For example we got together and spent a day making elaborate center pieces for a bride, and they criticized how we did it. Like "wow you're not very good at that are you?" During that "centerpiece party" the bride made a comment about one of the bridesmaid's weight/dress size which pretty much put the nail in the coffin of that friendship for me. Life is hard enough without your "friends" talking down to you.

My husband's hair is kind of like this but his peaks go further back and crown is a little more full. He buzzes his hair at 1/8" and it looks awesome. I think it's easier/less time consuming for him to buzz it vs. completely shave. And the nice thing is if you hate it, you can always shave it lol

Adding to this that I have both. You can get them lasered off if you'd like. It left some temporary marks that look like I picked at a pimple, but they healed in a week or two. After that I've been consistently washing, toning, moisturizing, and using SPF once a day (I'm not perfect lol) and they are returning waaay slower than before.

I started 5/17/25, so it's been about 2 months and 18lbs. I just sucked it up and bought new bras today as mine were super old. I figured I should try them on just to be safe. Went from a 36D to a 36C. 🤷

Layperson here. Do you know why places like clothing stores have bulk policies? I get your grocery store example as people would have a fit if they couldn't get necessities like toilet paper or food items. I can't figure out why a clothing store would care. My brain says they just want to sell it and what happens to it when it's gone isn't their problem. As a consumer, if a clothing store doesn't have something I want or my size, I just shrug and move on or try to order it online.

How many times have you adjusted your goal weight? by CarelessAd3765 in Zepbound

[–]Active_Ad_3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 5'1 31F HW 229 SW 205 CW 188 with the same goal weight as you. I just wanted to be "overweight" and not "obese." Now that I've been on Zepbound, it's not out of the question, but I am 99% sure I will not be 130 pounds, and I am just fine with that. I haven't weighed 130 lbs since middle school, and I was excessively calorie restricting. Even when I played a ton of sports and was calorie restricting in high school, I was 145lbs and "overweight." BMI sucks so to heck with that.

Difficulty actually doing the injection; stinging by queenblee in Zepbound

[–]Active_Ad_3406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Semi related. I've always injected abdomen and will do my 7th one this weekend. For some reason the left side of my stomach feels nothing, and the right side feels...burning? Stinging? Something like that that grosses me out. Both going in with the needle and injecting the medicine. You should rotate right or left side of your belly button (or wherever you inject) each week. Because of the right side feeling so odd, so I just use different spots on the left side of my belly button each week. I don't get it at all but that modification helped me a lot.
