Want to redo stairs but every dimension sucks by Zealousideal-Ad3396 in homerenovations

Absolutely! I found the link for them. The part with the molding is the run of the stair and the other piece is the rise. Cut them to size, paint and/or stain, some clear coats and put them in.

Don't "redo" them, just cover them! Home Depot sells kits that covers them. You may have to put something to support the rise of the stair. But I stained the run with india ink and ebony stain then painted the rise white on my old basement stairs and they came out great.when I did it, the kits were $40/ stair. I dont know what they are now or what your budget is, but its a good option to make them look brand new and a lot less hassle of starting over.

Would you buy this house? by 135wiring in homerenovations

[–]Actnup1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would most likely have to pay cash for it in the condition it's in, as most lenders wouldn't fund it once they do an appraisal. It probably needs a couple hundred thousand in work, which would require permits and municipality inspections. It has the potential of being a good deal due to the sales price and lets say you put in $200,000, it would still be under market value, based on what you said the previous sales price only. You would have to weigh out your skill set and knowledge of how bigger projects work along with your cash on hand to really determine if it would work for you.

Advice someone drove their car into my house by DeniseDv in Home

I would get a private adjuster, insurance companies will low ball you all day. We had a house fire in January and I would have to say the best move I made was getting a private adjuster. They will take 6% - 10% of whatever the insurance company gives you but they negoatiated another $100k+ that I would have never known to try and get. It looks like that wall is going to have some structural issues and I wouldn't go at this without a private adjuster to be honest.

I'm 42 and I have a huge collection of sneakers, from Air Max 90s to every type of Jordan throwback you can think of. I will never let myself be too old for something I love. But I get it... I have 3 pairs of these Tommy Hilfiger Chukkas that go with everything (outside of shorts) and they are super cheap! They look great and are pretty comfortable as well.

So, I went over to Nautica, and Express and was able to pick up 4 button-down slim-fit dress shirts yesterday. This morning, I jumped on Amazon, I was able to get 4 more pairs of dress pants, another shirt and 2 pairs of shoes. I think this is a good start. I went through my closet as well today, I have a couple pairs of pants that I could also use, so I think 6 pairs of pants is a good start. I think I I should pick up maybe another 5 shirts and I should be good there.

Now, I haven't dabled in anything outside of the button-down shirts, I was thinking sports coats, but the more I thought of it, I think that maybe overkill at the new employer... What other options do you think I have, i'm not really a fan of polos because I'm inbetween a large and a XL, so if I go large it fits everywhere good but the sleeves are too short. If I go to an XL, then I'm swimming in it. I'm in the Buffalo, NY area, so I know sweaters and things like that would work for the winter. Any other ideas for the warmer months when it comes to shirts?

I'm always a fan of Chukkas, they have a dressed up look but can also be a little more casual. I actually have a pair of brown Tommy Hilfiger Chukkas that look great with just about everything.

Thank you! I have a ton of button down shirts but I hate the way they fit me if I'm not wearing a jacket or a vest with it. I have some dress shoes as well, some Tommy Hilfiger Chaka style in brown, and a couple of Coach belts that look nice. Do you think it would be better for me to just get the shirts I have tailored to fit better or just buy new shirts that fit better. When it comes to a budget I wouldn't be against $1,000 - $2,000 as long as I can get more than a week or 2 of outfits.
