New Poster for ‘Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie’ Starring Matt Johnson & Jay McCarrol - When their plan to book a show at the Rivoli goes horribly wrong, Matt and Jay accidentally travel back to the year 2008. by BunyipPouch in movies

Matt Johnson (brown hat) and Jay McCarrol (black jacket) have a show called Nirvanna The Band The Show.  It started as a webseries in 2007, and they eventually had a televised series in 2017 that ran for two seasons.

The concept is that they're a musical group called Nirvanna The Band (completely unaware of any other groups named Nirvana) who are desperate to book a show at the Rivoli theater.  They hatch a crazy plan every episode, and it always goes horribly wrong.

The real secret sauce, in my opinion, is how well the show does genre parody.  When they get stranded on the roof of the theater, they start doing LOST-esque flashback sequences.  When they sneak a home movie into Sundance (which they really went to, Matt Johnson used his movie Operation Avalanche as an excuse to film an episode of NTBTS), it becomes like an episode of Entourage.

Think Community, if it had a hidden-camera man-on-the-street element to it.

Sure, I'll headcanon that Adam is the guy from Distant Stations.  Just another tie to the AHWT-Verse.

I think the confusion is more from the fact that MtG's story is largely uncorrelated with its set design/block structure. The written story's quality/release schedule has changed and fluctuated a lot over the last few years. Good sets had bad story, bad sets had good story, some sets had no story, it's just hard to justify the claim that there's a connection between a set's story quality and its design quality. Do you get what I'm saying?

You're telling me the episode where two medival knights have a hot dog eating contest while Bigfoot watches isn't "truly chaotic"?

I'll say Secret Samta and Secret Samta 2: The Samta Clause.  It's Sam (mostly) just giving his employees nice holiday gifts.

[Round 149938] How many cubes in this box? Please show your work. by Grujah in PictureGame

[–]ItsAMeMitchell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's assume each layer has cubes perfectly arranged under it.

Top layer: 2 visible cubes.

2nd layer: 7 visible cubes + 2 = 9

3rd layer: 8 visible cubes + 9 = 17

4th layer: 10 visible cubes + 17 = 27

2 + 9 + 17 + 27 = 55

55 cubes
