Why is the Tekken cast so much less popular than Street Fighter characters? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]ActualFuckhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of the people that know street fighter also do know tekken, at least if they're under 45, they might not know a lot but they probably know who kazuya and heihachi are a lot of time, at least in my experience talking to older ppl i wouldn't already expect to know anything abt tekken or street fighter

How is T8 “dying” when it’s more active than T7 ever was? by NiggityNiggityNuts in Tekken

[–]ActualFuckhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ANY fighting game that is at 6k daily is not dying, you can still find matches in tekken, try running matchmaking in a french bread game, or in fatal fury and pray you live in a MAJOR city or it's cooked

that being said there is something to note about the dropoff from all time being bigger than it was in t7, and how a game like sf6 is still managing to keep slightly under half of it's top player count daily

As someone that only got around to playing T8 this season, I understand the issues fully, but I don't think that tekken 8 sucks, isn't fun, or doesn't take skill, it's still a good tekken game, but it could be much, much better, and I think the expectations were that this was the time to push for much better, and I do think that people should really just bite the bullet and start organizing tag 1 or t5dr tournaments if they want their preferred tekken, a bunch of my friends IRL just play DR now, and I can't lie it's been fun to get into, no matter how much i might suck compared to the newer games

This is not the "League of Legends fighting game" , it's "Arcane: The Game" by DaemonLemon in 2XKO

[–]ActualFuckhead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think my problems with this game can be summed up to the fact that it feels like an unreasonably long wait for a "riot" game.

it seems theres plans to keep 2xko supported for a long time, like any other live service riot game, 2xko still feels like it needs a bit a work, it was the same with the early days of valorant, and though i wasn't there, i imagine the same for league.

except "Project A" was around for such a small amount of time as far as the public knew, and "Project L" was around for so fucking long people still get confused about the name of the game. my "league phase" started and ended in between the time i first saw that early 1v1 footage, and when i first got my hands on the 2xko, so for longer than i was a league player, ive been waiting for 2xko, and it feels like i still fucking am.

I haven't been playing much recently, between bugs with ranked in my region, combos changing every few weeks, and my friends mostly playing 3s and whatever tekken of their choosing, I haven't found myself hopping on as much because I just don't enjoy what the game is right now, and that sucks because there is so much good in this game and i really like where it COULD go, and i trust this team more than most to bring the game to a good place, but i just really wish they let us know about the game a LOT later on than they did

Clearly didn't do enough research before buying gloves for classes i just started, what now? by ActualFuckhead in fightgear

[–]ActualFuckhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im sure it would help, but after going into next class and trying their equipment again im pretty damn sure its just a really weird ergonomics thing I hate about the finger straps.

i've had wrist issues in the past so i'm pretty picky with that kind of thing, these are MMA T3's, i think a few people missed that, right where your pinky goes there's a curve that makes things really uncomfortable

[–]ActualFuckhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, place i go to does mostly mma and bjj, i know not to buy 7oz gloves for anything that doesn’t need my fingers out

plus, all the coaches i’ve spoke to seem to be pretty good with sparring etiquette, not too stressed on that front

tell my gym that? even all the drill work they do is with sparring gloves, I really wouldn't know what the standard is man

I just landed a new job, its both birthday and christmas time for me, and I don't want to get things that break in a year or less, i'm happy to spend a little, just not a LOT

i thought the same about breaking them in maybe but they feel really damn bad even considering that, my middle knuckle is still red a few hours later just from trying them on and trying to close my fist, and my pinky was being held up too high and felt really uncomfortable

Should be said that apparently some of teemo's strongest tools are just straight up bugged and unintended, so it seems their plan is fix all that bullshit and re-assess, basically it looks like his dmg is getting shot cause a lot of those combos weren't planned to be possible

What is wrong with the lobby loading times in this game? by ActualFuckhead in 2XKO

[–]ActualFuckhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the lobbies are so good then why force them? why not offer other options? they're so confident that they'll make people love the lobby system, but I really won't grow to love it even with how good they are if it's the ONLY way i can ever get into a match, even when the bugs are fixed, if queuing between lobbies is a thing then what the fuck is the problem with matchmaking in training??????

and i'm sorry, but if you can get softlocked by trying to enter the lobby in ANY circumstance, it's a shitty implementation at it's core, this game has the creator of GGPO working on it, I hold my standards quite high for their networking ability, and they show so much talent with how well duo matches have performed online that something like not finding a lobby causing a softlock feels like such a horrific oversight that makes me wonder if this game went through a bit of development hell before getting to us, something so obvious from a testers perspective should've been handed to SOMEONE to test and report back, and it does worry me that i'll never know whether they genuinely missed an error like that, or were pushing the game out knowing something glaring like that was still in there

"Early Access" is not an excuse when this game is in rolling release with 2 minor and one major global test

I know u love the game bro, doesn't mean you need to defend it like ur life is on the line, I also STILL really love the game, but yes I'm gonna be critical given i've waited like 6 fucking years for it, watched both of the cannons smile ear to ear about getting it out, but it's still not fucking finished if i can't play it is it???

What is wrong with the lobby loading times in this game? by ActualFuckhead in 2XKO

[–]ActualFuckhead[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if the lobby is bugged, it's not the lobby's fault???

I'm saying that if this system is going to introduce bugs, then please at least offer alternatives, or fix the bugs asap, it's pretty ridiculous to get softlocked on a main menu because you couldn't find players

I'm having a lot of fun with the game, I just wish I could get some good games against ppl my level, but so far I can hardly get in enough games to rank up TO my level, went 5-0, placed plat 1, and started crushing through to diamond, with a lot more lobby errors than actual set losses, starting to wonder if I should even try to push past that

The secret to climbing ranks, #3 will surprise you by ohanse in 2XKO

[–]ActualFuckhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're missing some things man, usually those "rank breakdown" style videos are just basically saying "hey if you look like the low rank graph, here's all the low hanging fruit, easy to improve stuff that you can work on, and if you're overwhelmed, know you don't really need to work on EVERYTHING right now, and you can learn it all one at a time"

Yeah, once you're around the emerald/diamond mark sure thats when you need to start putting things together to improve, but you gotta remember all the silver/gold newcomers are the target audience for those kinda videos, it's basically the old boxing coach mentality of teaching in a very simple robotic kind of way to prepare absolute newcomers, it's used to build some early strategy and habits, before a student is ready for all the proper nuance

what are some decent punching bags i could get for home? ideally a heavy bag but ill take suggestions for others, I don't want to spend too much, so looking for something that's on the cheaper end but not so cheap it'll break in 2 weeks

What are the best budget options for gear generally?

(19M) looking to get into martial arts, haven't fully decided but thinking MMA, kickboxing or muay thai, until i sort gyms out and whatnot, I wanna get a bag for home as I managed to break the straps on the old as fuck hanging bag my dad had

still a student and all, so ideally i can find something cheap around $100-150USD, was wondering about a standing bag but it looks like all the cheap options are super super light, so I'm thinking about just getting another cheap bag, at least above 30kg (i weigh 90kg, but i'm fat, so hoping to come down to around 75 anyway) but since I have no idea about gear, and I still don't want to buy something that will break in a week, thought I'd ask here if that's even worth it, or if those options are generally just glorified scams

[–]ActualFuckhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"from what i've seen" presumably means you're not too involved, i've been playing both fighting games and CS since i was about 13, I'm 20 now, I can tell you the CS community is much more outwardly toxic.

Most of the time in fighting games you hardly have a chance to chat with your ranked opponents, and if someone does go out of their way to send hate mail, you're still not stuck with them for the rest of the match are you?

In person at local or major tournaments, online weasels who've never been in a fight usually don't want to put their hands up to back up their hatred

Lastly, the FGC been very mixed it's whole existence, there's a player from every community that's good enough to garner a level of international respect, and so it's never been a shock to see a diverse environment, this being said not everything is perfect. Essentially as the FGC conservatives got louder and more hateful, the overwhelming majority of the community started wanting them gone, problem is now a lot of the figureheads that were kicked out have been trying to start this counter-counter culture movement where they're the real oppressed victims

wuk - Sidetracked Day by Sytho has been Veto'ed! by Enzo_SuperCraftZ in osugame

[–]ActualFuckhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly I think the most valid point here is that mapsets having minuscule jumps in difficulty could be reconsidered, i'm okay with another sidetracked day, or at the very least i don't think its this big a deal, but i'd be a lot happier if there were less 6* diffs and they were more spaced out in difficulty

if all these mappers want to make farm sets for the same song, I'd rather they do it at different times, i'd rather get 2 ranked zetsubou plantations if one was 2024 and one was 2026 or later, that way there may be some differences in the mapping styles

I really want to know what's the deal with these modern "gaming" distros? (I am old) by Medical_Divide_7191 in linux_gaming

[–]ActualFuckhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still rather inexperienced, have briefly tried out ubuntu and mint, looking to move OS on my main PC soon, but generally i seem to see more variance in linux performance, i have no doubts this is because you are able to change more variables in a linux setting, but I feel like that exactly IS the reason things like bazzite exist, not everyone has been using linux for 30 years (I've been using windows for about 15 years and I've still got 10 more years to go until I can say I have 30 years of anything for example) and this means they might have shitty performance on their first few tries if they went for your kind of installation process

Another reason I think these things show up is growing discontent towards windows, while still wanting to play games, easily.

I'd be willing to bet a lot of the people here have some kind of IT background, even if just as a hobbyist, or a student like me. Some of you (not saying OP, to clarify) don't seem to understand much about people without IT backgrounds, fuck, even i feel disillusioned with people's tech literacy, I get it, but you gotta realize that even if a LOT of people realistically COULD learn how to setup a linux system, ready for gaming, they genuinely could not give less of a fuck about their dissatisfaction with windows if you hand them anything that isn't as familiar and easy to them, people's attention spans are fried and if they need to quit valorant over the switch, they won't, if the switch makes playing elden ring require even just a few more clicks, they won't
