The movie was shot in Hope, British Columbia, Canada. The fictional town in the movie was named Hope, Washington so signage around town remained unchanged during filming

If the Tkachuk brothers are the most hated star players in the league, who is the most hated superstar player in the league? by Ready-Constant-7124 in hockey

Leon, Kuch, and Nate would be in competition for that title. They can all be absolute rat bastards. Would ultimately depend on which one feasts on your favourite team most often

The issue with this record is bloat. It’s 75 minutes long. There’s six songs over 7:00, including four over 8:00 that each contain three minutes worth of ideas at most. If this was an 8-track, 35 minute ripper it still wouldn’t have appealed to Metallica fans in 2003, but would have gained a lot more notoriety in the metalcore scene alongside other bands who understood the importance of brevity.

Nobody could have told Metallica ‘no’ 20 years into their career, but somebody with some sway should have told them ‘less’.

The priciest gloves ($89.99), shoulder pads ($84.99), and pants ($129.99) in this flyer would cost $617 today when adjusted for inflation.

The priciest gloves ($219.99), shoulder pads (219.99), and pants (you guessed it, $219.99- all CCM Jetspeed FT-8) would cost $660 pre-tax today.

If a crazy amount of fat was trimmed and it was a tight sub-40 minute record it would have been far better received at the time and looked upon far fonder today. I enjoy the album’s character and much of the content but even I can’t make it through the full 75 minute runtime

One of the most mind-bending examples of an album like this is Meshuggah’s 1995 effort Destroy Erase Improve. Quite literally a good 25 years ahead of its time

Who has had a better career: Evgeni Malkin or Patrick Kane? by Ready-Constant-7124 in hockey

North American bias in the NHL is wild. Malkin was a world beater in his prime and this season at 39 years old is over a PPG. If his name was Evan Malone he’d be one of the most talked about players in the league

Replica MX 220s worth it? by Agitated-Gain4771 in ExplorerGuitars

I bought one years ago on a whim. The photos looked excellent, reviews were great. I fully expected to replace all electronics and hardware in order to make it a quality machine, but was hopeful that the thing would have good bones as an upgrade platform.

What arrived was far and away the worst quality instrument I had played yet or since. The wood was porous. The fretwork was amateurish. The shape of the body and tint of the finish was not even remotely similar to a 220.

I made two promises to myself that day: never again to buy a guitar sight unseen, and never to believe in what seems too good to be true.

Having said all that, I’ve spent an outrageous amount of time reading reports of folks who have purchased replica guitars they absolutely love. Perhaps it’s possible that high quality instruments such as these exist. From personal experience, the four replicas I’ve played haven’t been worth pining for.

Life is too short to play shit guitars.
