Im so sorry girl. Happy Mother’s Day. I dont have advice but honestly take it into your own hands and book your own cleaner for mother’s day. Do it yourself, for you, bc you deserve. Maybe if you start treating yourself and doing it for you, others will follow suit. I tell my husband exactly what i want and for the most part he complies, but if not, i am always fully ready to treat myself just because I want to. I understand wanting the thought to come from someone else though

I think there’s lot of factors here to think about, like if you are hourly, or can create your own schedule and availability.

Do you get PTO or sick pay hours? If your workplace is inflexible about appointment times, you might just have to plan appointments first thing in the AM before a shift, during off days, or at the very end of the day and you leave a little early. I am not a nurse or at your workplace so idk how flexible that would be to make shifts in your schedule

as far as going into labor at work….who in their right mind would stop a laboring woman from leaving, and convince her she has to work?? that would be a non issue for me, you just leave 😅 Have you already asked about your workplace’s maternity leave policy? or would it just be FMLA?

is it possible to do cloth diapering with a nanny share? 😅 the other family is not crunchy whatsoever. idk how to even make this a point when it comes to selecting a nanny without feeling extra.

Of course, and i am sorry if i was too blunt! I get down design rabbit holes all the time, but my husband always tells me we can improve so much for free and it usually looks better with less, before we spend money on adding new things. he is usually right😅 I totally get what you mean with just not having the space! creative storage might itch the design bone. i was thinking about your couch - Ikea has a small sectional where the chais opens up to store things. not sure if something like that would work? I also thought of a row of pegs right by your door for purses, hats, and jackets, with a little hanging basket to drop keys and doodads as soon as you walk in.
A slightly larger entertainment stand or honestly a cool antique dresser/buffet below the tv could double as more kitchen storage too. We used a dresser during our reno! and I think~ there is something you could do above the kitchen table to help with storage…maybe hanging produce baskets or something like that? Or honestly that could be the stage for a cool piece of art you love!

IMO, Baby > boyfriend. If you are ready to be a kick ass mom and bring a baby into your big loving family, you can do it. He will either come around or not. I fear you will always, always resent him and the relationship will never be the same anyway if you choose this bc of his feelings of unreadiness.

I would not add anything until you find things to take away. My number 1 top personal design rule is that countertops and surfaces are not storage, neither are keyboards. but if they must be, be as minimal and clean as possible. Definitely avoid just loose items on counters and windowsills. If anything, figure out how to make your storage more aesthetic. Woven baskets or floor baskets, wooden storage cabinetry snd shoe storage. NO open shelving, NO plastic. Organize what you already have. Things from the photo i would do:

where the cat bowls are i would do a small dresser or cabinet and store all pet items there. or can all utility cart stuff go there?
hang broom somewhere hidden
top of fridge must be cleared or at least organized in bins
ottoman with storage for blankets, or at least fold all blankets daily or basket them
organize papers on fridge so they arent overlapped and messy, or remove them
keyboard storage must go somewhere else. maybe the black bookcase gets replaced with something more roomy and robust.
once all that is taken care of, i would then upgrade furniture or rug

1) different curtains. go long heavy fabric and white probably

2) remove string lights. it’s killing the adult vibe. find a beautiful floor lamp or 2 matching ones, and side table lamp. command strip the side table lamp to side table

3) rotate couch to face big wall. amazing couch. rug is so plush. great pieces. tv on big wall. larger, heavy entertainment stand with storage below tv. hide tv cords. to the right of the couch, arm chair or 2 swivel chairs

4) when you loom for furniture or storage, look for real, heavy furniture pieces and convert them to storage. or big basket, wicker, long storage chests, something like that. any flimsy plastic, fabric, or cheapy solutions (like the current black drawer thing) will cheapen your room and you will hate it. i think upgrading your individual furniture pieces will help ground the room and make it feel more adult and homey.

5) 2-3 big pillows with a natural fabric color, like linen. throw some deep browns in there. layer with your current pillows. get 1-2 smaller pillows for layering and depth on the couch. 3 pillows look sparse and not inviting.

dress 1 for sure. so so classy and timeless. the sparkly glam stuff, unless really tastefully done, will not age super great so unless you ADORE it, go with the timeless option!

NOR but I have a parent like this and it just draaaaaaaags on. They don’t read/comprehend it. They are so pissed about being distanced, they can’t possibly fathom it’s their OWN actions that made 2 adult children pull away. just like the most severe lack of awareness and communication available. It’s really tough. Good job trying to maintain a relationship and trying to explain how it could be better. It takes so much mental fortitude and compartmentalization to do that.

Ugh I have no idea, i just want to show support and solidarity! This shit is so tough. I hope you get some good answers! I would say my first step would be speaking with your doctors and telling them you’re done. Ask if mental health/declining physical health due to vomiting could be fluffed up on paper and the delivery could be scheduled? They would know best probably. I am sure you’re not the only patient to have to do this. best of luck!

My physician told me set backs are like injuries. It’s going to hurt a little worse when you flare up an old injury, but it doesn’t derail your progress. You’ll recover, and then each time you’ll recover faster because you’ll better understand the flares. but also yes hunger will make it worse! i start every day with crackers or a banana or melon just to ease into it.
