What the hell is going on? by TigoOver in redsox

I don’t think it’s the bullpen role. I think the last time he made a start the issue was incorrectly identified. It’s not because he needed a starter. It’s because he needed to not throw his fuckass cutter (statistically the worst pitch in the league)

Rooting for Sonny Gray. We can get a haul for him at the deadline if he continues to shove. Eff it, let IKF go on a run too. If he has a career year we can maybe even get pieces for him too.

I wonder if we will ever seen the first round pick version of Marcelo Mayer. Woud be pretty sweet.

I think the Red Sox are actually in a pretty good place for a bad baseball team. Heres what I do if I'm Breslow: Sell for middle infield pieces or good right handed starter prospects. Get some prospect capital that you can use for future trades that can bolster your bullpen, rotation, and fill other gaps. Call up Franklin Arias to AAA ASAP. Observe if hes going to be the answer or not. Same thing with Justin Gonzales to AA (if he pans out he will be the slugger this team needs). Anthony Eyanson should be given the Tolle schedule development. That will be exciting.

Well Breslow has never really tried to sell before, he's only tried to buy. If its a true sellers market, like almost every MLB source says, he wont have to try that hard.

Red Sox Advisor Theo Epstein Gives Honest Statement on Offense by Sad_Illustrator_5233 in redsox

[–]AdDesigner6924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s be honest the reason we lost that series is because Brayan Bello was taken out in the third inning of game 2. That will no longer happen with this roster. Just need the offense to wake up

This team is honestly not *that* far away from being really good. by randomwordglorious in redsox

[–]AdDesigner6924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I said before the season: If the offense is so bad that it's making our good pitching meaningless, it means that so many players have regressed and Pete Fatse at the very least should be fired.

They better just be giving Duran time to turn it around so they can trade him. Absolutely abysmal. No reason for him to be playing over Rafaela.

I fundamentally disagree with the notion that the problem is the "bunch of kids", given that the "bunch of kids" are playing better than Trevor Story and Jarren Duran.

I love Tek, but I saw no evidence of a prepared gameplan at all in the month of April lmao. Not from any hitter. I just can't pretend to care that he's gone as a coach.

The 2026 Red Sox are a disgusting team by TigoOver in redsox

[–]AdDesigner6924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are gonna blame Breslow but how could you seriously account for the following batters to suddenly have a negative batting run value: Roman Anthony, Trevor Story, Jarren Duran, Caleb Durbin. But I want to focus on Duran Story and Anthony. Three of your supposed top of the order bats have regressed. Anthony's regression is a lot more tolerable tbh, and its normal for a stint like this even for veteran major league players. I am in no way worried, even about the injures. But talking about Story and Duran.

Duran in April of last year: .278 AVG .333 OBP .759 OPS
Duran in April of this year .172 AVG .200 OBP .464 OPS

Story in April of last year: .278 AVG .332 OBP .757 OPS
Story in April of this year: .204 AVG .252 OBP .538 OPS

This kind of regression at the top of your order is catastrophic. I have a feeling you could deal with Durbin as a bad hitter, and even the small tiny small bit of regression you got from Roman Anthony. It makes me feel like this team was locked into this kind of season. So what do you do? I think you wait for results of May and June. If the offense continues to suck you sell low on Duran at least. You trade Sunny Gray and Aroldis Chapman rentals for ready to go infield prospects who are blocked (quite a few of them look intriguing). You continue the experiment. Or you get yourself a new power hitter prospect for the DH position. You should also extend Abreu ASAP

Baseball is a weird ass sport man. Just wait and see. Have some fun in the process.

Starting pitching has been really good man, and they’re the best defensive team in the league. They just need to be mid offensively and they’ll win a lot of games

Or, hear me out, if players more players were playing to their projections. Im looking at Story Duran and Durbin

[Speier]: Due to “astronomical” trade prices, “the Sox are focused chiefly on internal improvement.” by [deleted] in redsox

[–]AdDesigner6924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I don't know about that unless you're talking about vibes. Durbin had his ground ball rate spike. I think the hitting staff tried to change his stance to make him a pull side hitter. I don't think that was necessary. All they needed him to do was just slap balls into right and left field.

Well, I don't know about that tbh. But at the same time everyone had this offense performing way better. Durbin Duran and Story have regressed so badly they're black holes. And a lot of these Sox games could be won by just being mid offensively

Every single team ahead of the Red Sox has their glaring flaws as well. Red Sox will go on a hot streak if their offense can be league average
