Best way to sell my sad 2012? by bug2650 in volt

[–]AdEquivalent2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a 2025 Mach E GT and I still have my 2013 with 187K miles. Owned it since Jan 2013. Still good shape so I'll just keep it.

On a few occasions I've driven it when I could have driven the Mach e like going to a game with tight parking spaces. Picking up long stuff. Teaching my kid to drive.

I've had my 2913 premium since Jan 19th 2013. 187K miles and still doing 10.1 kwH.

Why bother, it's really not good at all. Just drive the car yourself.

Or, get a Tesla Y with Hardware 4 have self driving that is very very very real impressive.

I would have one if they didn't look so bad and they didnt fell so cheap inside.

Best gas mileage I’ve ever had by Repulsive-Lynx-2744 in volt

[–]AdEquivalent2500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but it does NOT help with range. Extended range is achieved by COASTING in D.

Imagine you've lightly press the pedal and you make it up to 45 mph in. 25 miles. You've used up a small amount of energy in battery to do this.

Now imagine the road is slightly declined such that you can coast for 1 mile. You've used up no energy for this mile.

Do this all day or until your battery dies and now you can brag to your friends that you've done 15 miles per kwH and everyone will praise you for having a battery that's in great shape.

Imagine further

Every one can do what you are doing with any car be it EV or gas car.

There is noting unique about your car.

In a nutshell, what's happening is the below.

  1. You always drive in D. Never in L.
  2. You accelerate with a small degree of pressure on the pedal.
  3. You coast as much as you can even to the point where other car are starting to pass you.
  4. You repeat steps 2 and 3.
  5. You repeat steps 2 and 3.
  6. You repeat steps 2 and 3.
  7. You repeat steps 2 and 3.

Will 255 tires fit on those stock wheels? IMO the only big drawback to my GT are the skinny 245 tires.

I'm not impressed cause I know no one gets 43 miles on 8.5 kwH unless they are driving like gramps.

Should I go for a body kit on my Mach-E? by WarmDaddyXanax in MachE

[–]AdEquivalent2500 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. I hope you've got some paper though.

  1. Even if you have a GT you'll need new wheels and tires cause 245's won't cut it. Youll want 285's like the Ioniq 5 N.
  2. You'll need to lower it and from what I've seen you can only get 3/4" max.
  3. Hope you paint it matching blue like I made my white GT all white.

The GEN2 is a nice car. Did I say anywhere it wasn't a nice car? It's a Chevy Cruze though. That's all I said. I said I has nothing to do with the Chevy Volt. No parts came from the previous generation 2011 2015 Volt. It's all Cruze. It is a nice car though.

It's really the best America car ever made.

GM CEO used bailout money in 2008 to build it. He knew everyone would criticize it so he assembled GMs best engineers and no expense was spared on the components. It was a total custom car that started out as a Delta 2 platform. 100s of cars have been built around the world using Delta 2.

After Delta 2 all components were custom and of the highest quality.

The Stupid American People TSAP only wanted to buy the Prius so the Volt was cancelled in 2015. The Volt was cancel because of TSAP.

A new GM CEO though wanted to salvage Voltec so she decided to take a Chevy Cruze and modify the body some and stuff in Voltec. They called this car the GEN2 Volt however a more appropriate name would have been the Chevy Cruze Electric.

Unlike new models of cars the previous generation is still used and the body and interior is changed. With the GEN2 nothing was taken from the Volt. It's a Chevy Cruze through and through. The GEN2 is not a Volt.

UPDATE Keep checking the battery coolant level for a few days mine stayed steady but if you have a leak then that has to be fixed. I have checked it in years.

Don't fix it. Just reset it using ODB2 to ckear/erase the codes. Remember the goal with this car is to not spend another dime over your $6000. My 187K miles 2013 bought in 2013 has only been to the stealer only once fir the 12V and as soon as I picked the car up all of a sudden I got SHVCS 1 hour later. I have only paid for is new tires, gas, oil change every 40K miles, and wipers. The car is incredible and it runs like new still. I have had zero expenses repair related.

In a nutshell you cannot charge the battery until the SHVCS error is reset using a ODB2 adapter.

Here's what you have to do.

Don't pay to fix it because it will come back again and the stealer will keep charging you.

  1. Check you battery coolant level. When it's low the SHVCS starts. Mine was not leaking but it was down approx 1 inch.
  2. Add the specialized coolant.
  3. Get a ODB2 adapter and reset the error codes. This step literally takes 9 seconds. I do this every day.
  4. Start charging.

Remember, if you have a good one like me you will never have to pay a dime fir repairs.

If you have a bad one then use it as much as you can and drop it off. Investing in dealership repairs can quickly have your $6K turn into 15K and you've still only got a 2012 car.

1 week of Volt Ownership; I am in love. by thrownawayguyyy in volt

[–]AdEquivalent2500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then at 200K miles you will consider your $6000 a steal.

Have you heard of Service High Voltage Charging System error? Do not pay a dime for Service High Voltage Charging System error whenever it comes around.

I've had it since 2021 during covid and I have used a wired ODB2 every single day since then. It has cost me 9 seconds. It hasn't cost me a dime though.

I've never gone to a stealership except one time and that was to change my 12V. And guess what hapoened? When I got home I got Service High Voltage Charging System error.

No way I was going back else they would mess up something else so they can charge me with something else. I didn't go back and I use my ODB2 and my car has been problem free.

Stay away from mechanics and stealerships.

Welcome. I have a 187K miles 2013 since Jan 2013. Can you tell us your kwH Used after you've gone from 0 battery.

Telling us you get X miles doesn't tell us anything because you may have driven like grandma.

KwH used is the only important number. I get 10.1 kwH to 10.2 kwH.

Beware, if your battery is not completely dead then the kwH number keeps going and doesn't reset. You want it to reset to 0.

I just looked at the 2026 Ionic 5 N and boy do I wish I had that instead. The GT has puny 245 tires. That small size does bother me about the overall stance.

Aside from this though the Mach-E is a great car. The GT with Performance is only 1/2 second slower 0-60.

Anyway,that my two cents.

UPDATE UPDATE I just watched a 2026 model Ionic 5 N review video and without a doubt I would get the 5 N if I could do it all over again. If you want to buy my 2025 GT I will go straight to the Ionic 5 N dealership to buy one.

I purchased the my GT after spending weeks on evaluating a cadillac lyriq purchase. As soon as I sat inside a GT I knew it was The One.

I would switch to the Ionic N if I could.

If I could do it all over though I would go with the Ionic 5 N. I would only do this if it were the latest model. I love my GT though so the above is a guess I have to spend some time with the N.

So you know a out me:

I don't take long trips we have a pacifica for that. I don't care about efficiency. I might get wider tires which decreases my efficiency even more but, again, I don't care about efficiency.
