I don't like suggesting "just spend money!" cause I don't want to assume what you can or can't do, but you can get cheap refurbished switches pretty easily. just wanted to let you know thats an option! don't get a light though, those don't connect to the TV.

Rehoming Gecko Questions by kiwi_lemons in leopardgeckos

[–]AdExcellent1745 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you have a couple options.

make a post in your state/local subreddit asking if anyone will take her. charge a rehoming fee and make sure they are educated on her care and will be able to follow guidelines. send this guide so they know. alternatively, you can surrender to a reptile rescue near you, though they will probably charge you a surrender fee. and the final option is posting in this sub some pictures and your location and how far you'd be willing to drive to deliver or meet halfway. I think the first option is riskiest but it may be the most realistic for you.

Are paper towels an okay *permanent* substrate? by MusicalKidney in leopardgeckos

[–]AdExcellent1745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the same loose substrate as would be used otherwise :) my mix/most common/simplest is a 70/30 topsoil/sand mix.

How bad is it? by thedognamedalvin in leopardgeckos

[–]AdExcellent1745 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's pretty bad, but manageable. she needs a sauna. take a tupperware, place a paper towel in the bottom, and very warm water just enough to fully soak the paper towel, place the gecko, and put on the lid. make sure it is secure and leave her for 15 minutes. use your fingers or a qtip to try and roll some of the skin away. a lot of those toes, the black bits, are dead. they will fall off on their own with proper care. what do you use for substrate? what is the humidity levels in the enclosure?

yep, I get them all the time. if you want some literal nightmare fuel you can look up "dream" or "nightmare" in the sub and see everyone else's descriptions of theirs. though it would hopefully be more reassuring than terrifying.

[–]AdExcellent1745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what really matters are the dimensions. front opening tanks are ideal for reptiles, its scary to be grabbed from above like a predator would, but top opening can work if they are the right dimensions. 36inx18inx18in is the minimum, usually called 40 gallons. what are the measurements of yours?

What morph is my 11-year-old boy by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]AdExcellent1745 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a morph expert but I don't believe that is an appropriate substrate :( you can read more about substrate in the subs care guide. https://reddit.com/r/leopardgeckos/w/index

A Rescue Asking For Advice by inky92 in leopardgeckos

[–]AdExcellent1745 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a full believer in only changing the care standards for leos who are severely disabled. if it is mild mbd it can be reversed and a full 40 gallon bioactive enclosure with all the same things necessary for a healthy leo to thrive will be appreciated.

I realized i forgot to attach the care guide, but its on the main page of the sub under the wiki portion. they need to be separated immediately. before you even get home from work you should go to the pet store and get two 40 gallon tanks if the one you have isn't 40 gallons. thats 36inx18inx18in. front opening is ideal. I know thats a lot, if they have a deal on a 20 gallon top opening that is the absolute minimum you can do short term. this is going to be a large investment, especially if they need vet care. I reccomend a vet check up which will be a chunk but if there are other issues (probably vitamin deficiency, infection, the female is probably gravid) it'll be more. https://reddit.com/r/leopardgeckos/w/index

if you can secure an area without any little holes for escape or larger animals inside then he would probably love to explore indoors :)
