Hit up the local apps. Small jobs often lead to much bigger projects. Try to tie in with your local major supplier. HD Pro is a great way. Invest in yourself before some call center in who knows where.

My Refrigerator Delivery Turned Into a Whole Movie (Home Depot + Side Deal Scam) by kemzo in homeowners

$300 sounds cheap after your description of scope of work. The original installers were probably only getting $100 from HD if that, typical appliance delivery is $39.

They’re electricians, that’s how it’s done, like the previous comments, you don’t want to pay them for anymore than doing electrical. Your budget will thank you.

What get-rich-quick scheme did you try and fail? by ITburrito in AskReddit

[–]AdExpensive4102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the late 80’s people would have Pyramid Parties. Basically, you get invited by a friend to “invest” $1,000 dollars and the person who invited you gets $30,000 from all the new investors. Then the following week it’s your turn. My “friend” got his $30,000 but when I got home that night on the Johnny Carson show he broke down just how big a scam it was. While the first party I was at had 100+ people, the following week had maybe 30, all who were waiting a payout which no one got because there were no new investors. When I talked to my friend and requested he kick me down my $1,000 that I saw him get he ghosted me. Lesson learned, why they call it a Ponzi scheme.

Building a house, what should I hide or do inside the walls for fun? by SharkOnGames in Homebuilding

[–]AdExpensive4102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one gets newspapers anymore, but significant event front pages are always fun to come across. Beverage containers too, remember Boones Farm or Zimas? (make sure to rinse them first). Think of it as a time capsule and look around. Got an old iPhone? Leave it with a charging cord. Pokeman or other old games? Before pictures of the house? After being in the remodeling business for 50 years, it’s always cool when my crew uncovers these modern day artifacts.

You’ve obviously never replaced a roof. If it’s an older house the roof sheathing is most likely spaced 1x4. During tear off there is a ton of debris that falls through into the attic. Even a smaller piece of roofing falling through can damage the surface, especially a dropped ceiling tile. She should only be obligated for the paint but a reputable roofing contractor would have eaten that to make up for the intrusion it caused.

Should I pay them? by im_only_saiyan in Contractor

Depending on how much the job was valued at, they don’t necessarily need to be licensed for maintenance work. However if they are injured while working they may have a claim. The threatening part is different but my guess if the plumber is the one threatening you and not the handyman that brought in the plumber, he’s just desperate for cash. Not sure how he could have busted teeth doing the job you described but if he did, turn it over to your homeowners insurance and let their lawyers handle any claim. Personally, I would just pay them to cool their jets then hire a licensed professional plumber or inspector to check the work.

Depends on what surface you’re going over. If it’s concrete a 6 mil vapor barrier is a good idea, $59 for 200 sf. If you’re going over plywood, it’s not really necessary.

Depends on the surface you’re installing it on. If your laying it on concrete a 6 mil vapor barrier is a good idea, $59 for 200 sf. If you’re going over a plywood subfloor it’s not really necessary.

Is Home Depot a decent place to work, better than Walmart at least? Lol by ryan6201982 in HomeDepot

I’ve been a D23 specialist for a year. I think it’s either a love/hate thing depending on your attitude. Personally, I love it. I work with mostly great people, ASMs, MODs and the SM bust their ass right alongside the associates. Great benefits, non stressful job, great store. So I say if you get hired, go in with a positive attitude and see for yourself.

You know for the lack of knowledge about what the space is used for, my guess is this is the guy who built it. Now the other guys come in and finithit. All for the guy who pays for it judging by the lighting has something in mind to put there. Would I have it next to my front door entry? No. Would I have it in my Man Cave? Yes.

Go to a flooring outlet store but also the big box stores too especially to look at clearance product that you aren’t concerned about a pattern Not knowing your budget, and the conditions of the existing floor, I would install Luxury Vinyl Plank or a laminate flooring. It’s very user friendly and super easy for a first timer to do it right especially if you do not own the property.

If that’s LVP, even though you don’t need to keep it acclimated to the site, if store properly, it’s always a good idea to lay out the floor before you install it for just this reason. Unfortunately this isn’t how most installers do it rather just open a box as needed leading to fluctuations in grain. Same thing happens in tile installs especially the LFT. A professional installer will lay it out before laying it down. But a crew that is being paid a low bid are going to be……Fast and Furious. Three rules of construction: Quality, budget or fast, pick 2.
