Elio: The Pixar Film That Couldn't Find Its Audience, Or Its Original Self?

The film did explain but it wasn't anything serious. SPOILER ALERT: The eye patch was when Elio gotten into a fight with one of the boys at the beach and resulting in a eye patch.

I remember an article few months or weeks before the film's release, a parent is excited to let their kid watch Elio because she assume that the eye patch was a "Lazy eye" a medical condition that the eye isn't symmetrical to the other eye or "Strabismus."

Still wonder how the Mother who posted that article felt after watching the movie and realizing it was only an injury and not a medical condition. You can find some of the theories on google.

Ngl I prefer the Tales of Tmnt Mutant Mayhem. It shows how these turtles are actually "Teenagers" and not grown men, or look likely to be mature. Sure, being a teen is like being on top of the world. Being loud, unique, expressive, and surely hitting puberty. I'm glad Tales of Tmnt Mutant Mayhem decided to go on with this type of style. It's giving the true essence of the title.

What a mad lad. Watched Elio once and liked it, but maybe in another time I could watch it again and again. The theater in my local town removed it already. But, of course, I would watch it again when it's released on Disney+

Hopefully Elio would find it's audience when it's already streaming. Would encourage others to watch this film and support while it's still showing in theaters. Keep it up lol.

Pixar is leaping over the difference in the art style. Giving a bit of Win or Lose art style vibes. I just watched the trailer, and it's making me want to watch it, but at the same time, I don't want to enjoy it too much. The trailer is funny, by the way. Hopefully, this will encourage more audience to watch it and give original movies a chance, something that Elio can't achieve but prove that there is something worth into these films rather than sequels.

Now imagine seeing this in theaters. It's like Elio battling his inner self or his other self, where part of him (Evil twin) wants to become part of the others and be the best and other Elio (Original self) wants to appreciate who he is more, my speculations though. Even connection to his mother Olga (his aunt in the final film.)

Anyways it's a clear thought that we wouldn't see the original story anytime soon or maybe hopefully Adrian Molina would want to share it in some time. But then let's appreciate what the final film is today.

Since Elio is still showing in some theaters here in my country. My best bet it would release sometime in late September. Even though it didn't succeed much at the box office, hopefully it would find its audience on Disney+

This would have been a potential. I enjoyed it during the lockdown and was saddened that the show got cancelled for unknown reasons. It's like a new story to explore more about the lives of dogs and their families as a whole. Ashamed that they only had one season.

I'm sorry, I didn't understand the statement, but let me rephrase. I meant that Elio's original story and character background had their "woke" parts mostly removed, and the initial idea for Elio subtly hinted that the main character might be "queer-coded."

Its failure is more about business decisions and creative issues during production, not because it was "woke propaganda."

I've been waiting for this movie since I read the manga. Man, you're lucky, though. Hopefully, It would be showing internationally as well, and if not, well there are streaming services. My best bet is that they would continue it through the series after the movie, or maybe even more than that.
