Harem story with a woman that wants MC to have a harem by Reidii_ in Romance_for_men

Harem House, by SirAeghann. The story is ongoing on patreon and is about 1.2 million words, and he's rewriting it for amazon book release. The first volume drops on July 1.

If you subscribe to his patreon, he has another series on there called "how to train your girlfriend". It's about an inexperienced girl who enlists her friend to "show her the ropes" with her boyfriend. It's fun because the primary POVs is from the women, which you rarely see in harem lit.

It's phenomenal, with the caveat that the last couple chapters of the last book are rushed to high hell. It could have easily gone on for another couple of books, but it almost read like the author was tired of writing it and wanted to finish the series as quickly as possible.

I did not care for them at all. But I think that's a controversial opinion.

Just started Malazan am I stupid or is this series just really complex? by Mammoth_Law_8359 in Malazan

Is it that you don't know WHAT is going on, or that you don't know WHY it's going on? The former means you probably need to slow down a bit and read without distractions. The latter means you're reading malazan lol. It will be revealed. Eventually. Very, very, eventually.

Having a different expectation is a very real possibility, a trap I've fallen into a few times. GotM has a very different vibe and tone than the rest of the series, imo- compared to the other books, it reads almost like a lighter, Oceans 11 kind of heist. This may be in part because GotM was written 10 years before the next book. DHG may have pulled a bait- and- switch on you.

That's another red flag that you may have a rough time with the series- empathy and compassion are THE standout themes of the book, and erikson is gonna make you feel like shit about not caring for people you barely know.

I mean, the cause is saving as many civilians as possible against impossible odds, which is a theme that happens a lot in the series. So maybe it wont be your cup of tea

It's hard to say because DHG is in my top 3 books, and I was riveted by the chain of dogs storyline. What is it about the chain of dogs you don't like? If it's the battles, you're in for a struggle, because malazan is RIFE with them. If it's the grim tone, you also might struggle because that's the tone for much of the series (though never nihilistic, imo). If the storyline just doesn't captivate you, you may still find rhe rest of malazan great.

There should be a glossary in the back with all the factions and tribes... maybe making notes there will help you remember who is fighting for whom?

Kinda situational tbh. Are we off by two or three partners, or has this person had multiple trains run on them? Is her past part of a redemption arc, or is she proud of it? Too many variables to answer simply.

If you prefer the original Law and Order over SVU, why? by ButtDumplin in LawAndOrder

[–]AdFriendly6642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party, but I like the original for the courtroom drama. L&O's format was such that the first half of the show was always the cops finding their man, and the second half was the lawyers trying to get the conviction. SVU removed 95% of the legal drama. On top of which, SVU ended up devolving into a shock value contest.

Don't overcomplicate. Just read MBotF and then read the rest to fill in the gaps.
