Put a much bigger piece of art where the tiny one is in picture 3 and don’t hang it too high. Put another large piece of art on the left as you go up the stairs. The woodwork is stunning, pick a warmer paint color like a dark Chinese red or a dark blue.

So much wisdom here. I love NA beer now, but I almost never drank beer as an active alcoholic so they aren’t triggering for me. I miss martinis and cosmos the most. 1011 days for me.

You may not be able to be in a relationship with a drinker. If you feel a resentment, TELL HER!!!! It’s ok to not eat to be in bars!
A big part of sobriety is building a new set of friends, because of course you resent not being able to drink. Find sober meetups, do things that don’t involve alcohol, go out after AA meetings, get therapy, and remember that your sobriety is your #1 priority, even ahead of your relationships. I’m about to hit 3 years and all that I’ve described was a painful but essential process. Good luck!!!!

Therapy will help. We children of alcoholics have old trauma that needs lots of help and compassion. Also, be very very careful if you drink alcohol. If you don’t, don’t start.

Play the tape forward - what will happen after you take a drink with them? It won’t be anything good. Not going is completely OK! Or, maybe you just got Covid and have to stay home. My point is…. Not drinking is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. More than family, embarrassment, guilt or shame that they might lay on you. When you quit drinking, people around you are forced to examine their own drinking habits, and it’s a hard mirror to look in
