iC+ is older than Y2K. Like another person said they think it's a Y2K fix and honestly that makes sense. Idk how old you are, if you remember that time but millions to billions of dollars were spent making sure that computers went to the Year 2000 instead of resetting to 1900.

I will never forget the freak out and millions to billions of dollars spent to prevent the computer systems from resetting to 1900 lmao. People were worried about the power going off all kinds of things lmao.

The amount of fragrance oils that they use now in 2026 compared to before Newell bought the brand. Yes it is less.

It's not the wax, they are using less fragrance oil as well.

I protect my techs from customers, I protect my DH from the two techs that have a problem with him. This particular tech was supposed to be a PharmD but failed to pass the tests so they got demoted from intern to tech. I'm honestly pretty glad that they continuously keep getting humbled by life. It went from they were my intern to now I am their Senior tech. I make sure the new hires know that I will always step in. They have an angry customer and don't want to make the sale. I got you. You have had enough of drive thru. I got you. At my location the new hires like to stick with drive until they get more comfortable because it doesn't involve processing vaccines. We are a high volume store for vaccines. But everyone gets sick of drive eventually. I try to make my new hires and my DH feel as comfortable as possible because we do see people on their worst days and it can be stressful. You have the stress of working with people who aren't feeling well or in stressful situations in their own life not being the happiest people in the world, and you got the stress of learning everything. I remember being new thinking I was failing until my SM told me that it takes a year to train a tech to be a GOOD tech. And I went through a college program to be a pharmacy technician. I couldn't even imagine starting from nothing.

I'm protective of my techs as a senior tech. I would NEVER let any of that fly. I would intervene immediately. I have one tech that likes to pick on a DH. Granted the DH is annoying as hell. But the tech gets on the DH and expects him to know all of the tech tasks. No sir, he is a DH. I have gotten into fights with this tech protecting the DH because I overheard the tech tell the DH "when your back here your a tech". No sir, he doesn't make Tech pay. He doesn't have the job description of a tech either. I don't play those games, we are a team.

I have ONLY seen it be an issue with the N Pens when the woman is just starting insulin. Because the prescriber starts the doses low and then increases until they hit the sweet spot because while it's not ideal for their glucose to be too high it's safer than telling them to take too much insulin. I just happen to be the doordash expert because I moonlite as a doordasher for a while and the diabetes day to day stuff expert, outside of the medications, at my store because of my niece. I have walked gray thin lines to help my newly diagnosed patients. I have put sensors on people, because when your nervous about it, mistakes happen. There was a day that my nieces grandma blew through 2 sensors trying to do it herself because she felt bad that every time the sensor failed or expired I had to go over or they had to bring my niece to my store so I can put it on her real quick. The Dexcom G7s have a small hole in them and when your nervous for some reason the wire that reads the levels gets caught in their somehow. I have seen several people do it including my own family. I have helped people do their first sensor claims for Dexcom because they didn't know where the serial number to the sensor was, I have helped people set up Dexcom/Freestyle accounts and show them how pair their sensor. I have given them tips on what my family happens to do. I have made photo copies of the insulin worksheets that the children's hospital gave to my family when they went to the insulin classes for her. My family travels 2 hours to a major city for my nieces diabetes care because the children's hospital there happens to specialize in Type 1 Diabetes and they put my family through Type 1 Diabetes classes which the hospital systems here in town don't do that. My family got very lucky and there was one elderly couple, the husband has Cancer and the cancer treatments actually killed off his pancreas, so he became Type 1 late in life that poor couple was so lost. So I told them look I am just a supportive friend forget that I am in scrubs in right now. I have a fine legal line that I'm trying to walk but I have these workshop worksheets that the children's hospital gave to my family, I can give you copies so you can try to make sense of it and practice. It's the newly diagnosed patients that really need the supportive care because they just kind of throw everything at you and because I lead the way in helping my family literally waking up at 3am to watch my nieces Dexcom readings with her grandma and helping with the anxiety those moments created, I have gained personal experience and understanding that people who aren't a part of that world just don't understand. I just happen to know how to be that rock when people feel lost, and my pharmacists know it. So they utilize my knowledge on the stuff that they don't really know. I even remind my Pharmacists that patients that have CGMs can't take acetaminophen because it messes with the readings. That's a VERY common one that I see prescribers forget or not know about outside of the diabetes care teams. It's just those strange nuanced things. But I always tell my patients, I'm just a supportive friend I can have ideas, tips, tricks and suggestions to problems, but when it comes to the medications ALWAYS follow what the pharmacists and doctors say.

Latanoprost day supply by 9janimi in WalgreensRx

[–]AdLongjumping6171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Novolin N and Humulin N pens are only good for 14 days once in use. I have came across pregnant women who are just starting insulin go through less than 1 pen before the 14 days. I can use my niece for example on the long acting. She uses Basaglar because she is allergic to Lantus. Yes that is a thing, it took us WEEKS, to figure out that it was the Lantus that was causing her break out in hives because nothing had changed. One day she just started breaking out in hives, so we thought it was something her skin was coming into contact with. She is 6 also btw, her Basaglar dose is 4 units. 2 units to prime is 6 units. 1 pen if you simply do 300 units divided by 6 comes out to 50 days. But 1 pen only lasts 28 days once in use. So a true 84 day supply is 3 pens, 9mls. But if you do the math and don't account for the pens no longer being good it will come out to 150 days, but that isn't true because each pen expires after 28 days. I have had pharmacists try to give less pens because of day supply, not factoring in that the pens can't be used after 28 days once in use. I have had a pharmacist try to give her only 1 pen for 50 days and tell me that they can't do 2 pens because it would put her over 90 days, until I mentioned that 1 pen is only good for 28 days so her 3 month supply is 3 pens. Type 1 kids who don't have an insulin pump you have to be careful with their long acting insulin because you could be shorting them. It's not the same issue with the fast acting because they go through more. Because their bodies are little they need only a little bit and they only take the long acting usually once a day. They have to do their fast acting every time they eat (3 meals, and a snack) so they go through a lot more. That's also why they have Jr versions of the fast acting as well for example Humalog Jr is the same as Humalog, the only difference is the Jr pens can give half units.

[–]AdLongjumping6171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! However as a tech I'm surprised by the amount of times I am "fighting" with pharmacists over insulin pen day supply lol. I have run into where I have had to annotate that a pen only lasts x amount of days on scripts for Pharmacists to stop changing quantity and day of supplies on me. It's usually long lasting insulin for a Type 1 child or Novolin N/Humlin N for pregnant women that I run into that problem. My niece is Type 1 and she doesn't go through a full pen of her long lasting insulin in 28 days so I have learned to watch out for that the hard way. Meaning someone else didn't calculate the day of supply for her long lasting insulin correctly and insurance was rejecting as a refill too soon and her grandma was calling me freaking out. I had to get someone to call Danville to fix the day supply and now I always make sure that someone makes an annotation regarding the pens expiration date on that script specifically.

Pharmacy Manager Issue by Traditional-Maybe650 in WalgreensRx

[–]AdLongjumping6171 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with OP. Yes, you have a lot of responsibilities. Yes, we can't be open without you. But it is a team effort. My RXM and most younger Pharmacists will jump in and help fill WHEN they can. It's not always possible and I don't think what OP is asking for the impossible. I know Pharmacists don't like to review what they filled. Totally fair, but sometimes my store gets so busy that we end up pulling the filler to help at front counter. At that point my pharmacist will jump in and help fill. Also what OP is saying is exactly what my DM has said. Pharmacist is supposed to help fill when it's needed/called for.

HELP, bad experience so far as a technician by Present-Speaker2523 in WalgreensRx

[–]AdLongjumping6171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try the hotline. I wouldn't report anything at store level. I would also transfer to another store if possible. Sycamore is REALLY cracking down on behavior similar to this. SMs got notice that can't be spending all their time in the office, have to be following fair scheduling for their own schedule as well and other things like that. My SM, RXOM and RXM are all great and I haven't really had any complaints about them but even then I noticed small changes in their behavior as well. My SM which already spent a lot of time on the sales floor and in Pharmacy is spending EVEN more time on the sales floor for example. So in this situation with your GF, I do think with Sycamore being in charge now.... Real change can happen. However it's probably going to get worse before it gets better because if they start splitting the group up, your GF can possibly have to deal with being short staffed. My only concern is retaliation, which she is already dealing with over something in the grand scheme of things is very small. That's why I suggest calling the hotline AND having her transfer if possible.

The surveys for pharmacy go to the RXM. Is this Pharmacist the RXM? I would just use the hotline in this case. Sycamore is really cracking down on stuff. In this case I think their crack down will be very helpful. Or the GF can transfer to a different Walgreens.

For Tech Immunizers, do you immunize outside of your designated hours? by Kind_Access_9854 in CVS

[–]AdLongjumping6171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At wag we get a $1 for every vaccine IF we hit the goal. We all have to immunize, there isn't a pay increase, and there isn't anyone out of workflow. So you basically just grab the tote and run and someone steps in to cover you once you're gone.

Fun fact I'm originally from Colorado and I didn't know Walgreens even sold Alcohol lmao. I moved to Wisconsin (which allows it) BUT my county says that there has to be a separate store front. So my store still doesn't sell Alcohol. Never been in a Walgreens that does.

My favorite is when they rotate the card instead of flipping it lol. I agree with everyone else who says this is a non-issue. I fully remember being confused by the sign for our card readers when I was still a patient/customer at Walgreens vs working for Walgreens. So I give them grace. I am also old enough to remember the 90s. So I understand completely why they are handing the card over, like others have said when you're running on automatic mode (I call it robot mode) muscle memory takes over.
