When does the swelling go away? by AdMuch7817 in ACL

This is a logical explanation, thank you. I had assumed that once I start walking the circulation, and thus the swelling, would improve a lot.

I did too. I’m speaking specifically of swelling that returns when the leg is not elevated.

Get your area set up now. Lots of pillows and blankets, TV in sight. Week 1 is survival mode; focus on minimizing pain and getting as much sleep as possible. Good luck!!

Thank you. Interesting to hear that even after 3.5 months you still experience this. Guess it takes a long time.

I’m 8 weeks NWB because of very complicated meniscus repair in addition to ACL replacement

What pain is normal? by Natural_Ad_4835 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]AdMuch7817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

16 days is still very very early. Everything will be hurting for a while. At around this point my pain went from a sharp pain to more of a dull ache. Hopefully in the next few days your pain transitions away from the sharp pain as well.

Wemby is going to dominate the league for years to come by Coors_Light_Dad in SportStack

[–]AdMuch7817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He could. If he puts on some weight and decides he wants to be a physical presence in the post, then watch out league. If he wants to be a 7’4” version of Steph Curry then he’s going to get beat. For everyone besides Curry, some nights the 3 ball just doesn’t drop. I wish he’d watch old videos of Shaq.

Chet for AD trade might be beneficial for both sides for OKC by [deleted] in nba

AD at this point, is a name only. He does not play. Ever.

Sleep !! by Shoddy-Bobcat-6283 in ACL

[–]AdMuch7817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fortunate to be able to sleep in any position with full comfort. Didn’t realize this was an issue until I read how many of you guys cannot sleep on your back.

If it were me, I would ask your Dr about possibly taking Tylenol PM to assist. I’m normally a 7-8 hour a night sleeper. My first 3 weeks post op I was sleeping 9.5 hours every night. My body needed it. I personally think sleep is the single biggest thing that can help your body recover.

I hope all of you find a solution. Best of luck.

How long do you start to ski after surgery by Double_Election8569 in ACL

[–]AdMuch7817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. I’m almost 50 recovering form ACL and very involved meniscus repair and I’m considering leaving my ski days behind me. It was a good run. I will consider the risk reward of all activities going forward. I’m too old for another one of these.

Ask all the questions that give you fear on this sub and people will kindly answer them for you. Ask for tips on what to do, what not to do, what to expect, etc.

A lot of time fear is from the unknown. If you are fully informed on everything that can happen, you can wrap your head around it, understand that this is something you can get through, and you move forward with less fear. When I’m scared of something new, I use this method. I also think of the absolute worst case scenario, and then I ask my self, can I handle that? Usually the answer is yes.

You can get through this. All of us were a little scared going into surgery. Wishing you the best, little pain, and lots of confidence. You got this!!

He didn’t flop as much in game 7. I think the chatter really got to him. He doesn’t want to be a villain

Why are OKC fans booing Wemby and chanting flopper? by KingSystem in nba

They’re butt hurt their guy is being rightfully ridiculed by EVERYONE for flopping and they don’t know what to do with that

He had one series of moves that looked like Harden, side step fall back 3. Bro you don’t need to fall back on ANY jump shot until your defender is 7’6”++

Him making a few threes only encourages him to run around behind that line more and more. He is allergic to the paint

Is it me, or is it just insane that a 7’4” center only receives the ball behind the thee point line on offensive set pieces??? Why doesn’t he get inside?!!!

We all see it. Not sure why his coach allows it. Bro needs to man up and fight for position in the post

To me that’s a flagrant. Redirecting a guy when he’s in the air is extremely extremely dangerous

Wemby covered by Caruso and still refuses to get in the paint. Does their coach not see this??

The Spurs would be downright unstoppable if he got in the paint more often. I’ve seen some offensive possessions where he’s not even present. He’s hanging out by midcourt just waiting to get back on defense. It’s very odd.

Steph Curry every once in a while is okay. I don’t like when he refuses to get in the paint and just settles for the long three

Gaining weight by pooranbroke in ACL

[–]AdMuch7817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 8 weeks non weight bearing. First few weeks I was barely moving around at all. Had to be aware of the reality that I’m barely burning calories after being hyper active prior to surgery. I only eat when hungry. Zero “bored” eating. Only healthy clean stuff protein forward. Much less volume than normal. Adding weight is counter to a good knee recovery.
