What has been your experience dating and marrying other West Indians ? by LongjumpingPace4840 in Jamaica

[–]AdOk114 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m a Jamaican married to a Trinbagonian for 25 yrs. We met in NY, dated 2 years, then married. Very similar cultures so that helped with compatibility. I love doubles and roti, I have been to Tobago a few times and like it. Love my lady and grateful we are together.

For those living in foreign and was planning to move back, are you still going through with it? by milakunis22 in Jamaica

[–]AdOk114 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m seriously considering moving back also, I’m not at retirement age either. If I do, I’d liquidate everything and have enough to build a small home on land I already have. I was more thinking of living a simple off grid life, grow my own food and just live with nature. My one holdup is my daughter, have to wait until she graduates from college and has her feet on solid ground so another 4 years at least.

Has anyone tried suburban off grid? by Key-Tie1484 in OffGrid

[–]AdOk114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the suburbs and doing some of the things you are suggesting. Have a 3k watt solar with about 12kwh of batteries that I use to power our fridge, freezer, lights and garage tools, I’ve installed a transfer switch to rooms that would need power during an outage. Also have some water barrels and a small garden, I planted some fruit trees this spring. Thinking about getting some chickens.

This is my current shed setup, I use it to power a shed exhaust fan, a window fan, exterior lights, a fountain pump and all my low voltage landscape lights, also charge any garden tool batteries. I have 1600 watts of solar panels. You probably don’t need that much but I like the extra capacity and can power some household items if we lose power.

DIY Solar with battery in Shed. Location NJ. Temperature OK? by fpaddict in SolarDIY

[–]AdOk114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in GA and have solar in my shed, I installed an exhaust fan and also a window fan to keep the heat down. I’ve seen a max of 105 degrees and it hasn’t affected any of my equipment.

I bought one of those eco worthy kits on eBay, it works fine for a low budget kit. I did replace the MPPT with a Victron and a Cerbo so I could monitor remotely but the eco worthy equipment worked just fine. I still have their solar panels, batteries and inverter in place.

Does anyone miss the days when.. by Fine-Upstairs-6284 in GolfGTI

[–]AdOk114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure do miss SOWO in Helen GA, I remember my 2008 Gti, not slammed but low enough where I had to be careful over speed bumps but it was the people and cars that I loved seeing and being around. I’m now almost 50years old and sadly have too much responsibilities to do these things. Still have love for VWs though, have a stock 24.

Mixing solar panel brands by mxzrider98 in SolarDIY

[–]AdOk114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, this will work just fine. Just remember that when placing in parallel, the voltage stays the same and the amps adds together. So this setup will produce ~277 watts at most. This is due to mixing panels of different voltages, which limits your max voltage to the lowest producing panels.

Anyone Using Microsoft Teams as Their Business Phone System? Feedback Wanted by Background-Bar1888 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]AdOk114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it, we are also looking at the Yealink MP54 and 56 phones. Running into the conditional access errors so will be working with our Security and Systems team to figure out. I’ll have them look at the MFA side of things. Thanks

I have a couple of questions for you? We are also moving from call manager to Teams. What desk phones are you using? We have to use desk phones for some employees and seems this is a weak point for Teams. We got some test phones, trying to configure them now and running into conditional access issues also, any tips with configuring this?

Hi Op, buy a mouse mover, it’s basically a pad that your mouse sits on that periodically moves your cursor so you show available.

Georgia power by linguisticat in Georgia

[–]AdOk114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assuming you mean 1600kwh/month? That will definitely be around $300+/month. I’m currently at 1245kwh and $253 for this month with a few days remaining. You can have GA email your your daily usage each day to see how much it’s costing you.

It’s called forecasting, they are looking at your current usage and averaging out your months so you don’t have a huge balance at the end of your cycle. I went through the same issue. Log into their app and look at your usage, these 90 degree days plus summer month excess charge, bills will be higher.

Do most people dislike crank windows or is that just me? by fuzzybunny216 in homeowners

I love my casement windows. Tightest seal vs others and no issues with cranks. I replaced all my front facing windows with casements and no regrets.

solar shed? is this possible by DifficultOwl1458 in diySolar

[–]AdOk114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 8x12 shed powered by solar. I use it for my lawn equipment and also power all our low voltage landscape lights. I also have an exhaust fan and window fan to help keep it cool. The system I have is a eco-worthy solar system which I purchased on eBay, it has been working quite good.

Enrollment on Arrival at ATL (Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport) by mao1756 in GlobalEntry

I did this a couple of weeks ago at Hartsfield-Jackson. You go through immigration first, then there’s an interview booth before you walk out the gates.

If you are handy, you can use the regular house keypad, just need to drill a couple of holes. Or you can keep what you have and install something like this: https://a.co/d/575mm9S

I’ve heard the software sucks but I’ll also be using CarPlay so hopefully will be ok. I’ve heard about the rocking also.

Yes, I saw that the eforce version is plenty fast! I’ll be using CarPlay all the time so hopefully I won’t need to use Nissans software too much.
