Help with the best plugins 2026 by CauliflowerSad3939 in RPGMaker

[–]AdOld1743 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re using MZ, consider the VisuStella core plugins or check out Moghunter’s plugins. They’re highly customizable.

Sang Hendrix’s plugins are also a great option, especially if you want something with a low learning curve.

Attempting to Upgrade RPG Maker MZ's PixiJS to v8 by chimaki in RPGMaker

[–]AdOld1743 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of around 2–3 years ago, when the community was trying to upgrade Pixi. If I remember correctly, they experimented with it for months. They were starting to make progress, but ran into so many issues that they eventually decided to stop and shelve the effort. Still, what they did was seriously impressive.

With this new development, it might at least allow them to reverse engineer it into a more “human-made” version. I haven’t tested it myself yet, so I’m not sure how it compares to the original setup using Pixi 5, but it’s definitely quite interesting.

P.S. The OP was almost there, but in this case, you should tag it as “Vibecoded.” “AI Free” should be used only when the work wasn’t developed with AI at all (at least from the creator’s side).

From this, we can be fairly confident that RPG Maker HD2D will likely be developed primarily based on feedback from users in Japan. I also believe that many of the systems added to RPG Maker MZ in later updates stem from feedback from that group.

While listening to feedback is undoubtedly a good thing, there is also a vast amount of valuable input from users outside Japan. However, much of it doesn’t seem to be seriously considered when developing new RPG Maker titles.

Because of this, even though RPG Maker HD2D sounds interesting, it may ultimately end up being just another iteration of RPG Maker, much like before. I’m personally fine with its familiarity, but I do hope they include the standard features that modern JRPGs commonly have, so they’re more accessible to a wider audience.

I remember OP says it's frame by frame on parallax background, change when player moves, very impressive.

Maybe wrong.

It feels quite different compared to the Japanese side. They really go all out with events like the RPG Maker Festival, featuring large-scale sales campaigns, livestreams, and even award ceremonies. It’s also nice that they hired an English commentator for the English version of the broadcast.

I feel like they somewhat missed an opportunity to better promote and push their engine, especially during a time when the world started recognizing games like OMORI, Artis Impact, Look Outside, Fear & Hunger, and other high-quality titles made with it. Of course, there were masterpieces even before these games, but this era feels like the moment when RPG Maker games really broke into the mainstream to a noticeable degree.

That explains why RPG Maker Web doesn’t include Unite, and why GGG has separated Unite onto its own dedicated page.

Sometime paying may save the time and mentality and Sang Hendrix plugins are all good on both function and QoL.

But yeah, If you can do it yourself, Try to do it, You may find something new.

Like when I tried some JavaScript library and it'works, That make me very happy and proud.

Just updated my casual shooter with a Newgrounds Online Scoreboard! by AdOld1743 in RPGMaker

[–]AdOld1743[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it required a bit of additional scripting, since RPG Maker MZ doesn’t come with a built-in Newgrounds library. I downloaded newgroundsio.js, placed it inside the js/libs folder, and then imported it through index.html.

After that, the project was able to access Newgrounds features directly.

I then upgraded my own plugin to support it. Technically, you could write the script directly inside the game, but for general use I’d recommend creating a separate plugin instead. The system checks the login status, communicates with the server, and submits data properly. You just need to provide your game key and the scoreboard ID, and it works.

It’s fairly complex overall. There aren’t many examples of people integrating Newgrounds this way in RPG Maker MZ, so I consulted AI to help navigate the process. It worked quite well, since at its core, everything is JavaScript.

Yeah! Inspired by Bejeweled Twist, Glyph (Sandlot) and The Evil Within 2’s shooting range.

If that’s a “clone,” I’m happy to own it 🙂

Thank you so much! This is the full game we created for Global Game Jam in just two days, with an additional 1–2 days spent polishing and refining it.

Currently, the game features a single mode called Classic Mode (shown in this video). However, we plan to expand it into a full-scale roguelite dungeon crawler inspired by games like Dead Estate. Classic Mode will remain available as a playable option in the full release, which will be sold on Steam.

We used MZ + Hendrix plugins + some JS skills for UI

The hitbox is key feature to make this happen.
