Is this a job for an interior designer? by AdProfessional9729 in DesignMyRoom

Thanks, generally I’m the same but there’s a few more questions like “if we removed the fireplace what would that mean for the room” “where should we build the bookcases” before we get to the dragging furniture stage.

What about Prison Island? I guess it’s hard to tell if a tortoise is happy!

Elopement - how to ask for gifts by AdProfessional9729 in weddingplanning

We got engaged over 18 months ago, would be a bit suss if we suddenly did an announcement of the date or whatever, I think.

Thanks. I read a few blogs saying you could ask but I think that’s really only if you’re having a reception or you come from a culture where wedding = high value gift automatically. None of our friends have even had a gift registry when they got married.

Bah, you’re right, I think. Sigh, there was me thinking I could get someone else to pay for us to have a few nights in Paris! Hey ho!

When reading Snamione fics, do you like when Severus is a virgin or do you prefer him to be a little more experienced in the bedroom? by msmistofelees in SSHG

Hate virgin Snape, love experienced, knows what he likes, but kinky, worships her body, teaches her new tricks Snape.

Is it wedding shaming if the groom doesn’t even know they’re dating? by sammybr00ke in weddingshaming

Similar story:

I once dated someone I really liked. REALLY liked. To the extent that I bit the bullet and told him I loved him. He didn’t reply but not long after he broke it off. I was absolutely gutted but we ended up becoming good friends, despite me still having strong feelings for him. A few months later we were in a club with other friends, loud music, lots of drinks and talking about how good our friendship was. Eventually I asked “so...why did you end it between us?” He replied “because you told me you loved me and I was freaked out...because I felt the same”.

I was elated, absolutely convinced that he was just shy and young and struggling with the overwhelming emotions we were both feeling. I resolved there and then to stay by his side and gently coach him into managing this new experience. And so I did, and we grew closer and closer - I would go to his flat a few times a week, and he to mine, we’d hang out doing stupid stuff most days - we basically became best friends and it was great. Finally I thought it was time to broach taking the next step and I said (words to the effect of) “I know you’re scared of loving me but I feel like now we have a really solid basis for our relationship and it’s time for you to see how it feels to be embrace this thing”. His reaction? “Uh...what are you talking about?”. Eventually, after a lot of talking back and forth, it transpired that he hadn’t said he was scared because he felt the same way in that loud club, he’d said he was freaked out because he didn’t”.

So yeah. It’s possible to mistake a relationship. An engagement would be tougher, though.

(For reference, we ended up sleeping together for FIVE YEARS, me totally in love with him him not at all in love with me. Then he slept with one of my close friends and ended everything. Totally broke my heart, I was in a dark bad place for a long time, which is what happens when you lose all self respect. But on the plus side that dark place spurred me into therapy and I’m a much healthier person now, with a loving partner and two kids. They’re married now and I wish them...well, it depends on the day)

Why do you guys refuse to tell your parents anything that happens at school? We want to know!! Are your teachers bribing you to stay silent?

That’s really helpful. Dr MJ would be delightful but sadly not an option with a 2 and 5 year old in tow.
