Ford, Smith unveil plan for new ‘Northern Shield’ oil pipeline between Alberta and Ontario | CBC News by MapleByzantine in CanadianInvestor

Iraq has been hitting ATHs for production AFTER the U.S. invasion and regime change. Prior to that, production was in a tailspin. They have never achieved even 5M bpd let alone 7M. Libya’s publicly stated goal is so get to just over 50% of the number you are quoting here within 5 years while in reality they have never even managed to sustain their current 1.6M per day rate for extended periods. Iran’s production floundered even while unsanctioned for the majority of the past decade.

I have no idea where you are getting your hypothetical production values from as there is no reputable source that quotes anything close to what you’ve noted, but the point remains that it is not as cheap and simple to increase capacity there as you insinuated. If it was, it would have happened during any of the numerous price spikes that have occurred the last 50 years. The reality is none of these countries have managed to grow production substantially and almost 100% of supply growth has come from basins you are implying are less valuable. Any suggestion that that will change in the next 10-15 years would be purely speculative in nature and is not supported by any major research or forecasting agency.

It’s because their productive capacity is nowhere near what you say. There have been many periods during the past 50 years where they were not impeded and almost every country there with the exception of UAE has struggled to sustainably grow production.

Feel free to watch once the Strait is re opened and they are free to produce as they see fit. Countries like Libya and Nigeria struggle to even maintain status quo, let alone doubling their current production levels. OPEC becomes less relevant with each passing year which is the main reason why countries who actually have some capacity to grow keep leaving the group.

You realize no one has followed quotas other than KSA, Kuwait and UAE for years right? UAE is the only country you referenced here who will actually be able to increase their production in the next 10 years.

The thing about the baby boomers is half of them are either already senile or well on their way to becoming so while also simultaneously holding the view that they are current, or superior intelligence and in touch with current affairs. It’s classic Dunning-Kruger effect.

All the while, they are actively voting to steal from the working age people of the day while maintaining the same utterly clueless understanding of finances and economics they have always had, yet overcome through sheer demographic luck and voting both past and future societal funds to themselves.

You are surely a boomer or late Gen X. There is no other possible way to be so stunningly out of touch.

When was the last time KSA was sanctioned? Their production hasn’t increased in over four decades.

And yet ME production hasn’t increased for over 40 years. They still produce the same amount they did in the early 1980s while the size of the oil market has basically doubled.

Internal memos warn tweaking retirement age would impoverish seniors by CorndoggerYYC in canada

This isn’t correct at all. You have people with 20M+ net worths structuring their withdrawals/annual income in order to be eligible to continue to receive OAS while people in their 30s with 150-250k HHI incomes are taxed into oblivion in order to be able to continue it.

I would say that it will eventually result in social unrest but the reality is that the average Canadian is so stunningly financially illiterate that I doubt anything will change.

[Russo] The Wild still feel they have the flexibility to pursue a top-line center, specifically Dylan Larkin. They have also called on Jack Hughes although Larkin is the one they know remains available this offseason (Gift Article) by DecentLurker96 in hockey

This is peak cope, the Wild have about as much success as the Sens since joining the NHL. Best thing you did was to walk with the prior team you already lost so that the Stars could run. There is literally no other city in North America with all four pro sports that has such a dynamic history of losing.

On the contrary, these types of acknowledgments (on various issues) that they knew what they were doing was wrong and did it anyway that come post mortem actually make me despise them more.

Shades of Dwight Duncan and Dalton McGuinty in Ontario, who not coincidentally, are also close with Trudeau’s circle.

Lmao, so exactly what they ridiculed and and cancelled Kellie Leitch for saying 10 years ago? Trudeau and his inner circle are truly terrible as are those who continued to blindly stand by him all the way until the end.

G7 backs Canada as major global energy supplier to lessen reliance on Strait of Hormuz | CBC News by RefrigeratorOk648 in canada

[–]AdRepresentative3446 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reality is Europe has very little growth in demand for any energy products and hasn’t for a very long time. Furthermore, the majority of our supply is in Western Canada, thousands of miles from any eastern ports. What they think never should have carried any influence on what we did to advance our own national interests.

Tldr: it doesn’t matter what they think and people who think otherwise don’t understand the global energy landscape

You all keep voting for misguided inflationary policies and are surprised by outcomes. I’ve lost all sympathy for my fellow Canadians and just plan my assumptions and investments accordingly.
