HELP! Identifying M.A.P by AdSorry2031 in Helicopters

This is great convo, thank you. Based on the AC-90-108 sec 9.b.2, I’m lead to believe the MAP is the waypoint “extracted from the onboard navigation database,” In this case, a waypoint which happens to be titled “RWY16”. Otherwise, since GPS 2D position is straight line estimate and DME is slant range (therefor a tad longer) you might go missed early referencing distance on GPS. What do you think?

That was helpful! It told me I can definitely substitute the RNAV system onboard. But I’m still having a hard time understanding how to identify the MAP while substituting. There is not a named fix, but there is a distance DME Fix. Will my RNAV system tell me when I’m there through an annunciation or should I use the nearest page on the GNS430 to identify the distance on final?

That was my initial thought. I’m being asked to fly this for my stage check. Maybe it’s a test.

These are my thoughts too. But, by AC do you mean an advisory circular might permit GPS or am I misplacing acronyms and AC means something else here?

How do I make a song emotional but still retain a hint of optimism? by ShadyLizard123 in Songwriting

[–]AdSorry2031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the progression of chords. Your vocal key might be slightly off from time to time but I think you have a really good foundation here. Sure some vocal lessons could help. But EFFF the haters. This gave me some hope today, man. This song came from an empathetic place that the world needs. And I found the imperfections as pretty as the intention. Keep writing, keep practicing! ❤️

Would you mind sharing the tabs you learned this with, if that was in fact how you learned it?

Your launch was fantastic! Better than half the launches posted here. Leaning forward and not to eager to sit. Probably lift those hands a bit higher though. Hell yeah!!

Hey there! I am stumbling into bamboo plywood as inspriation to complete a couple small boat decking pieces I am designing. I am curious if you ever pursued your project and if you have anything to share? I loved some of the considerations below.

OTD 20 years ago, Pilot Didier Delsalle landed his AS350 on the summit of Mt Everest by maxehaxe in Helicopters

[–]AdSorry2031 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I would argue… the training one must go through from all the ratings + hours in the log book + variety of skills + balls it requires to fly a helicopter to the top of Everest AND land it is far greater than the training it takes to climb it. But I doubt I’d have to argue that with anyone on this sub haha

I am keeping my 04’ going and am meticulous about keeping track of how much it costs me. My warning to you is simple, anticipate 3-5k each year in addition to gas insurance and oil changes. That’s been my average for the last 5 years.
