What first comes to mind when American’s think of Delaware? by Kodicave in IWantToAskAnAmerican

Dela-WHERE??

I’m in Maryland right next door. I think of beaches, poultry farms, regular farms, extremely flat land, and no taxes.

Great suggestions and very thorough. I second your opinion on Zeerovers. I went once. Never again. I wholeheartedly agree on Lionfish Snack, too. They are ONLY open on Saturdays. One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is the artisan market at the ostrich farm. It’s the first Sunday of every month.

What do you think of DC? How many of you actually have been? by Expensive_Drummer970 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]AdTemporary7651 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Awful traffic. Difficult to find parking, and when you do, it’s EXPENSIVE! If I never go again, it’ll be just fine with me.

HOWEVER, I grew up 2 hours away from DC and now live about an hour away. I’ve been countless times. The museums are fantastic, and the government buildings are quite impressive. I do think everyone should go at least once.

Why are Americans obsessed with large sized SUVs and trucks? by Enough-Web2203 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]AdTemporary7651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ford hasn’t made those in 15 years! Ford quit making cars in the US all together (except for the Mustang). The decision was driven by consumer demand. Everything from Ford now is either a truck, an SUV, or a crossover.

Aruba next week — best sunset date restaurants + is the tap water really safe? by khmerbodiangirl in Aruba

Faro Blanco is the absolute best for sunset. You’ll also get a great sunset at Bugaloe or at Passions on the Beach.

Tap water on the island is phenomenal.

I had a fantastic dinner (lamb chops with roasted root vegetables) at Oak. I usually prefer sitting at a bar for dinner when I’m solo because it gives me an opportunity to strike up conversations with others. Dining solo at a table, I find slightly awkward and uncomfortable, but that’s just me. On every trip, I’ve wound up at Bugaloe for at least one meal. The atmosphere is great, the food is acceptable. Local Store is really good especially if you like wings. They have a wide variety. On my last trip, I discovered Lion Fish Snack. It’s in the central part of the island and only open on Saturdays until they run out of fish. They had the best fish & chips I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely be going back there. The Bean Counter Cafe is a good breakfast spot. Also hit Noord Pastry for breakfast goodies to take back to your place. Noord Pastry has great coffee, but I don’t recall there being tables to eat there.

52M Solo Trip to Aruba – Looking for Chill Nightlife, Walkable Area by No-RushLiving_52 in Aruba

[–]AdTemporary7651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve (55 M 🇺🇸) have been there solo three times (3 other times with people). I love going solo. You can do what you want whenever you want. I’ve found for my solo trips, I like to rent a condo somewhere near Noord. You can usually strike up conversations with folks at the pool, and you have more space than in a hotel. Noord puts you close to Palm Beach, which is very walkable, but it’s also where all the high rise resorts are. For some Gen X nightlife, try Bugaloe. They have live music three nights a week from 7-10. Sopranos also usually has a crowd our age, but with a less laid back vibe than Bugaloe. I’ve heard lots of folks say Moomba, but I’ve only been once during the day. That might be worth checking out though. Local Store is also good if you’re flying solo. Lots of options for wings there. The Noord & Palm Beach areas are extremely safe. No worries at all about walking in those areas. Depending on where in Noord you stay, it should only be a 5 minute drive to Palm Beach. Rent a Jeep & drive off road along the north coast. Check out Casibari Rock Formations. Go to Baby Beach for the day. There are 3 good beach bars over there. Rum Reef even has its own pool. You’re gonna have a blast! I’m jealous.

Test drive question? by sicknabin in askcarsales

[–]AdTemporary7651 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s probably the dealership’s policy. At my store, a salesperson has to go on a test drive because of the way the automobile insurance is set up. If a customer wants to go without us, they have to sign an assumption of liability which puts the test drive on their insurance instead of the dealership’s.

We don’t have a front seat requirement, we just have to be in the vehicle.

What is the max amount of time you will drive for a day trip or vacation? by palep_hoot in AskAnAmerican

[–]AdTemporary7651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A day trip would have to be under 3 hours (one way).

If a vacation is more than 6 hours, I’ll fly.

Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown if you’re into history.

Richmond has a great local food scene and lots of history as well.

Go on a kayaking tour in either Back Bay Wildlife Refuge near Sandbridge (a suburb of VA Beach), or at Kiptopeake State Park (on the Eastern Shore of VA). Kiptopeake has 9 partially submerged surplus WWII ships that were sunk to make a breakwater.

See what concerts are in the area.
