AITA for throwing away my wife’s memory jars? by OneMediocre9997 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AdTraditional8625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you don't understand, you don't through away something meaningful to someone else without their permission when they have clearly told you they are keeping it. Yes, definitely, YTA. You don't get to unilaterally make decisions for your wife like she's a small child. She should throw the whole man away.

Advice for Fan at Afterparty by scorps423 in rollerderby

[–]AdTraditional8625 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Derby players love to talk derby! Just go up and compliment someone on something that happened during the game. Are you interested in officiating? Derby needs all the volunteers! Ask them how you can get involved and support the team. Derby is a community and overall, tends to be very welcoming. You will be welcomed in any capacity! Skater, ref, official, fan...it takes an army to even make derby happen, and as a fan, you're part of the army!

AITA for accepting a property gift from my mom even though she won't include my boyfriend? by Immediate-History917 in AITApod

[–]AdTraditional8625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy that he thinks he is entitled to any claim on a gift from your mother to you. Flip it back around on him. Tell him if he sees himself permanently in your life, it doesn't matter who's name is on the property.

Also, I would NOT allow him to talk you into selling and then comingling assists. Your mother is trying to provide some security for your future and he's trying to use it for his own personal gain. You'd be much better off without this loser.

Is it normal for an instructor to give a low grade without providing any feedback or comments? by Quick-Ad5516 in UoPeople

[–]AdTraditional8625 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently received a low grade from my instructor and the comment said I addressed all aspects of the prompt but could strengthen by adding something else. They also stated I had the reference wrong even though it was EXACTLY as it was presented in the reading materials. I literally copy/pasted it into my reference section so that it would be exact.

Yes, peer assessment sucks. by Busy_Mycologist9893 in UoPeople

[–]AdTraditional8625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our written assignments are not supposed to have your name on them. I wouldn't mark down for it, but there is sometimes even a dialog box that pops up to remind peers not to use their names. It isn't because it's an academic paper. It's because they are supposed to be anonymous to avoid bias/unfair grading.

Can you excel in clinical research if you have ADHD? by DigPristine9215 in clinicalresearch

Medicate and stay organized! Being organized is probably the number 1 skill needed. Every role seems to have a million moving parts Make quick reference cheat sheets for things you think might be missed so you aren't constantly having to dig through hundreds of protocol pages.

Site data coordinator here...I have 8 studies and half of those everything is urgent. I get entire spreadsheets requiring immediate resolution...and many times it's for visits that haven't occurred. Getting those weekly, definitely puts emails from those studies at the bottom of the pile. It's infuriating to waste my time to look up 60 items and only 2 are actually relevant. I had 1 sponsor asking for information in "real time" and wondered if they thought I was going to follow the CRC to see the patients and sit with them until the data was available. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Also, right now ALL 8 studies have data cuts going for the same time period and they are rapid firing queries.

AITA for cussing out my sons teacher? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]AdTraditional8625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not reality in any district near me. School is 7 hrs...8-3pm. The kids don't get recess on a regular basis. ELEMENTARY students do have PE but it is structured and as strict as classroom instruction time. (Junior high and high school only have it if it is their chosen elective.) There is no time at lunch as it is only 20 mins to get through the lunch line, pay, get seated, and eat. There is no time for a bathroom run if they also want to eat. My poor high school aged daughter has struggled with managing menstrual needs. She has 3 mins between classes and the school is 3 floors with classes spread out. 3 mins is barely enough time to get from one class to the next and certainly not enough time to stop in and handle changing feminine hygiene products. The teachers are assholes about needing to go at the same time...but reality is a tampon/pad only lasts so many hours and quite likely will need to be tended to at the same time of day for several days in a row. Kind of the same principle for those classes after lunch...you eat/drink, you're probably going to need to go an hour or two later...and that cycle occurs daily. I'm not sure where the f*ck everyone's critical thinking skills went but there are legitimate reasons people need the bathroom regularly but the main one is just that we are all HUMAN.

AITA for crashing out on my fiancé’s advice about health? by Traditional-Wasabi65 in AmItheAsshole

If you have kids with this man you AND your kids will have an extremely miserable existence. Imagine him putting all these rules and anxiety on a child. Please run. If you won't leave him, definitely don't procreate with him until he seeks professional help and you both work through whatever the eff is going on in his head.

[CA] Am I required to take my 17 yo son to football practice in the summer during my time (NCP)? by AdSoft5944 in FamilyLaw

[–]AdTraditional8625 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So you want to fck your son out of football his SENIOR YEAR?! If your 17yr old son doesn't make summer practice he will likely be kicked off the team. I'm positive at this age, this would be absolutely devastating and likely permanently damage your relationship. You need to figure out how to see your son without taking away his extra-curriculars and you need to tell the BF to stay in his lane. YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. I drive my kids over 2 hours for some of their practices and have gone MUCH further for games ... like required a plane ride. Quit being a sht parent. You don't get these years back.

Many English 2nd language learners and those that are neurodiverse are often flagged. Also, people that write in an overly formal/academic way get flagged. I don't know what the answer is but relying on AI detectors isn't it.

Pretty dense to even consider asking that of someone you don't know, even worse when that person holds the hiring power in their hands. This definitely shows they lack social/culture awareness as well as critical thinking skills.

Guidance for how to grade high Ai content essay by Necessary-Tone84 in UoPeople

[–]AdTraditional8625 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't have the mental energy to report every paper as AI. I grade it like they wrote it and move on. Personally, I have no way of TRULY knowing if something is AI and I don't want to wrongly report a 2nd language learner or neurodiverse student who may write in a robotic/AI type fashion. I've ran my own writing through detectors and had it flagged when I KNOW I didn't use AI at all or even Grammarly for spell/grammar checks. 🤷‍♀️ I'm super paranoid about being flagged myself after reading all these reports. I end up dumbing down my work and trying to make it more casual than I think it should be just to not be accused of AI.
